They probaby lose all the money they save on not hiring cashiers in people incorrectly ringing up their groceries at lower prices. Hell, probably lose even more money then what it'd take to hire cashiers.

Thread update:
No Stop & Shops in NH, can't steal. Wish I could, though. :ohwell:
LMAO, how did I never think of this? There's a store nearby with some of those automated payment things, employees don't even go near them unless there's a problem. I could just walk up, pretend to scan a bunch of things and punch stuff in on the touchscreen, bag my items, walk out, and no one would be the wiser.
Do it, report findings.
i hate ****ing theifs
Here's the backround: Stop & Shop, a food store from the northeast recently came out with their 'shopping buddy', which is a little hand-held scanner that will scan your items for you, so that you can skip the lines. You scan your Stop & Shop card, grab a shopping buddy, scan all of your items, scan a bar code at the self-checkout, pay and leave. They also encourage you to bag your own items as well.
Well, I've been 'forgetting' to scan at least $40 worth of groceries a week for about two months now. It's been working well. I've been doing it on Saturday mornings, which is incredibly busy, and I've yet to have a problem. I didn't have a chance to cash my check over the weekend, so I got it cashed today. I reluctantly went shopping tonight, knowing well that it wouldn't be as busy, but I thought maybe the security would be slacking off because it's slow.
What I do is scan a lot of cheap small stuff like Powerade's and stuff like that and put it on top of the other, expensive stuff inside a brown bag. For some reason, I pushed it a little bit this week and threw in a few things I haven't tried to take before, like those expensive bags of Tyson chicken, and some $10 things of Coconut shrimp. The stuff I scanned came to about $45.
I go to the checkout, scan the bar code, scan my card, and nothing happens. It's supposed to start listing my purchases at this point and it doesn't. I look up and the light for my register is blinking for help. Oh ****. I look over at my shopping buddy, and I can't re-scan. Oh ****.
So, a girl comes over and tries to void the transaction for me and tries to scan my card. Nothing happens. She looks at the shopping buddy, presses a few buttons, and she looks at my cart and starts going through my stuff and scanning it to check if I scanned everything. Oh ****. So, I immediately went, "Some of the stuff is a different order." She asks, "what stuff?", so I point it all out, and push them aside, as she's giving me a weird look. I knew I was caught. I started explaining that I'm purchasing stuff for my uncle's shop, and I have to use a business credit card for that stuff. I think she bought it, because she just went, "oh, ok then, never mind."
So I pay for the stuff that I scanned, and slowly walk over to another register, this time with a cashier. I realized how much I was going to steal, over $60 worth in groceries. Oh ****!
I'm not buying for my uncle, I have no business credit card. I look over at the girl who's staring at me from the service desk, and she's talking to a manager type woman. Now they're both staring at me. Total comes to $62 and change. Oh ****! Now I have to put on my acting shoes. I open my wallet, pretend to look for my credit card, I can't "find it", so I pay with cash. At this point, I'm scared they're going to call the cops or blacklist me from the store and have my picture on the wall or something in the security room. Now I really have to act. I walk over to the service desk and explain that I think I lost my credit card, just to be safe.
Me and two cashiers walked around the store for a short while with "no luck." I wrote my name and number down and told them to call me if it turns up, and that I'll have to cancel it on the drive home.
Over $100 in groceries for one person! I feel like an ass. I wasn't even embarrassed, I was so angry that I decided to do this on a weeknight! Why couldn't I get a few things, and then wait for the weekend for the serious stuff? WHY!? I had to push it, didn't I? Oh well, there goes a good thing!
Flame away. I don't even care, I deserve it. :oldlol:
You were just doing this for the thrill of it or something? Props for being quick on your feet, but that's a warning sign to stop while you're ahead.
Who the **** steals? How old are you?
Old enough.
Apparently not.
Is there an age limit for stealing?
Didn't think so. :ohwell:
I stole a jawbreaker when I was 11. My conscience ate me up the following night. I didn't even eat the jawbreaker.
lol PM is a damn tool.
hi josh
op was like fran
Stealing from Stop & Shop? Gangsta
I would do the same thing. :pimp:
i stole a lot from safeway when i was a kid, just stuff to munch on, got caught once and no penalty just a phone call to home
stole a few laptops back in my college days
Dude if I was in the store with you and witness that and you say "I think I lost my credit card" I'd be like, "Bullshit!" I remember so many times teens would come in and get cigs, then they'd get carted and they'd pretend to pull out their wallet and be like, "OH fuck, my ID isn't in my wallet." :oldlol:

Lol I used to do that all the time when I got carded.
does anybody ever actually buy that? i've actually forgotten my i.d. on any number of occasions, and i don't think i've ever gotten anywhere; club, booze, whatever. i think i tried that routine in high school once or twice, but it never worked.
It probably never works but I always just used it as an easy way to bail out.

Please tell me that was from a store, because stealing from other students is plain being an asshole.
lol i was about to reply to a 3 year old post. OP is a dumbass if it has not been said. he already paid cash for the groceries, no way you can get in any trouble after that. so what you lied and didn't pay with a card, you can't get in trouble with that. but stealing groceries? i hope its because you're broke and can't afford any.

Depends on the action the store takes.
A former co-worker of mine went shopping Thanksgiving morning at Walmart. It was completely dead. So him and his wife go in, shop for about an hour and end up buying about $200 worth of groceries. Before they leave a security guard stops them asks him to empty his pockets and he has a small jar of some fancy mustard. He put it in his pocket because he was carrying numerous items to the cart his wife had several aisle over and he simply just forgot he put it in his pocket.
So the security guard takes them in the back, makes them sign papers saying they would not step foot in Walmart again in that area. They even offered to pay for it and told the security guard it was an honest mistake and what happened.
So in the end, they paid $200 for groceries, forgot about a $5 jar of fancy mustard, offered to pay for it, store denied it and banned them for life from that specific store.
Get a better job thenu wont have to steal:rolleyes:
if they were to call the police, then just run.
if u get caught, it's a misdemeanor. lmaooo shit's pie.
op was smooth as shit
Missed this thread. Thievery and attempted rape? Wow...
op was smooth as shit
Now you're making the big bucks sucking shit through a hose. Smooth
I call bullcrap on all these "Shoplifters get their asses beat" stories. Stomping out a fat lady? Are you serious? That's like a gang beating right there and should warrant more than getting fired. Workers and managers or whatever can't lay a finger on anyone. Hell, it ain't even shoplifting until you leave the store. If I got my ass whopped by some mangers and cart boys for stealing $40 worth, you can bet I'm coming with a law suit on the company.
:oldlol:
one time my friend was drunk and thought he was being slick but wasn't and filled up a shopping cart of shit from safeway
the rent a cop followed us out to his car and kept asking to see the receipt as I was ignoring him and telling everyone else to just ignore him as we got to the car
he came close to me as I was getting in the drivers seat and I told him that Im not gonna show him a ****ing receipt and he takes one more step near me he is going to get ****ed up big time
he went back inside and we drove off

I'm not sure that was such a good thing you were doing.
OP is scum.
youre stupid.
Pete sure was entertaining.
Pete in his prime
First of all, in every case I stated that the shoplifter got busted in the parking lot or getting into their car. Last time I checked you couldn't park your car inside Wal-Mart. Second of all, undercover security can and does lay fingers on plenty of people, and when they need help they can get assistance from managers and cart boys alike. Shyt happens all the time.
Undercover security will stop you and ask you directly or indirectly if you have stolen something after you have left the store if they strongly suspect you of stealing but didn't actually see you at the moment you stuffed something or if another employee has seen you stealing. In that case they will just be basically issuing you a warning or if are stupid enough to confess they will try to take you inside. But if they actually see you stealing stuff they can and will try to physically detain you if you resist their version of a citizen's arrest. The undercover security NEVER let anyone go if he saw them stealing, at least when I was there. That was the best part of his job, taking people down. He didn't have anything to worry about, he was cool with the cops anyways.
I'm not saying that there was a physical confrontation with shoplifters every week but it happened enough where it wasn't anything shocking. Wal-Mart actually had a little detainment cell right across from the accounting office and you could regularly hear people crying, screaming, and cursing from there. Once in a while you could hear or see people getting up from their chairs and being pushed back down by security until the cops got there. Our undercover security was a badass, he had one of the highest conviction rates in the state. They used to bring in other undercover security officers from other stores just to train with him. He was this big older mexican guy with an OG mustache and tattoos everywhere, the last guy a shoplifter would expect to be security. But the guy ended up getting fired for guess what? Stealing from the store. :oldlol:
I can't believe you guys think my stories are BS. You do know that Wal-Mart security and cart boys have literally KILLED shoplifters in the parking lot right??? :oldlol:
Maybe things have changed in the last few years, but shoplifters were still getting messed up if they fought back when I was there.
Such bs. Do you think a cart boy earning minimum wage will get physical with anyone?
How stupid and pathetic are you?
why was this thread bumped?
:confusedshrug:
I wonder what stop and stop this was at.
Damn Pete's. Where is this guy??
I was bored at work.
You feeling guilty?
:lol
My closest call involved a somewhat similar situation and a bag of shrimp.
OP tried to rape a girl.
If he was still here he would get bullied by me and I would most likely stalk him and call the authorities on him.
