Did you know in Rwanda when the genocide started, there was a compliment of UN troops from Belgium occupying the International school? The tutsis (the Rwandan ethnic group on the wrong side of the genocide incase you didn't know flocked to the school for protection. The school was surrounded by Hutu shouting chants of how they were going to butcher the Tutsi. It was three days before the UN troop and all Europeans were evacuated. The UN left the tutsis to be slaughtered, because it was their job to observe and they didn't get any orders to put down the genocide. Explain that.

I don't know about hispanic, but if the person was black, it probably wouldn't get as much publicity because it's not as rare with them. Also take into consideration that it was a girl. If 6 black guys beat up 1 black guy into a concussion, that wouldn't make the front headline of anything but the city's local newspaper.

You aren't looking at the method, which is the most important part.
This isn't some guys roughing some dude up on the street for talking ****. This is a planned attack. Trapping a person inside a house with look outs and stuff. These people are sick, this isn't a street brawl...

But everytime a little black kid gets shot it's 5 minutes on the 11:00 News and that's it? And when they get kidnapped it's no big deal? The only minority kid I could think of who got any media attention was Elian Gonzalez, and look how light his skin was.

You could really go on and on forever with cases where somebody got off far too easy, or got excessively punished and question how much the motive had to do with race or social status or sex or religion or some mitigating factor.
It's kind of pointless and doesn't get anything accomplished though. What's more important than what if, coulda shoulda woulda happened is what did, and how will they handle it.
I just hope they don't get some slap on the wrist punishment. And I hope nobody gets on tv to pull the whole, "what if they were black" nonsense, except Jane Velez Mitchell. I'm sure she will do it if she gets the chance, and she's hilarious when she race baits her cohosts. Everyone else just pontificates in a rather annoyingly predictable manner.

Bosnia lost over 200k people and it took the US and Europe a while to step in. The main reason why the Europeans and Americans don't go into Africa is because they have nothing to gain. Why is America in Iraq? Why hasn't America/Europe stepped into chechnya? Why won't America liberate Taiwan with bomb strikes?
