Question for Live fans...
have you even played the 2k series? I find it very hard to believe that a real basketball fan would not find 2k VASTLY superior to Live in every single aspect of the game. The only people who actually think Live is better than 2k are people who play only for arcade style fun and relaxation.
Live looks better this year, but they are seriously stealing a lot of things from the 2k series now.
And I sure as hell wont pay for any EA games, I've been burned by them one too many times.

I played 2k5 for about a week on the PS2 while I was in China last summer and played 2k6 on the xbox360 for half a week this year.
Question for 2k fans, why do you CARE?
1.) Live is for PC, 2k isn't. So take out the people without consoles from playing 2k.
2.) PC is infinitely better, so take out people who enjoy better graphics on the PC, and the ability of PC games to always keep updated and get new player made content from playing 2k.
3.) Graphics. This year (06), live's graphics on the 360 is considered the best of sports game made, EVER.
4.) People who enjoy a fast paced game for relaxation. I don't play 48 min games, I don't wanna see scores of 10 to 10 when I play only 8 mins.
Now another question for 2k fans, how many has actually played live 07, and why would you dismiss a game from the start? Now even though I said 2k games suck, I'm still going to try 2k7 and hope for an improvement. But why the *** should I not try live. Why the hell should anyone care?

Well I have Live and you can change the sliders to make it more realistic. It's a matter of preference. Some people might like to play Live for the All star weekend feature and sick graphics and some might play 2k because of the 24/7 ebc mode. I like both games actually. They should unite both games to make NBA Live 2k7...wouldn't it be sweet?

Honestly, the 2K series has fallen off a little bit. It's still better than Live, though. Live '05 wasn't terrible. It had some problems, but it wasn't terrible. Live '06 was really bad, though (as was '03, '02, and '01).

NBA 2K simply OWNS NBA Live in every aspect. I dunno if you're blind but NBA Live has some of the crappiest graphics ever. It looks like something fresh off the N64. You simply cannot compare to the detail and effort put into NBA 2K. Gameplay is much more realistic as well...as I stated before, Carter and McGrady dunking on three guys from the free-throw line is physically impossible. Peja cannot score 80 points off 3pointers. Fcuk, I've seen SHAQ drain a few threes in an NBA Live game.
If you want arcade, fast paced, unrealistic hogwash, look no further than NBA Live. But in terms of TRUE basketball simulation, NBA 2K rules, with no competition.

Actuallys whats most unrealistic about live is how you can block basically everyone who tries to dunk on you (even shaq). You've obviously never played the game before.

I scored 50 with billups (13 were three pointers) in 2k5, and dominated the game with Kwame Brown (KWAME!!!) in 2k6. so?

This is EA sports you're talking about, of course it will be unstoppable. Live is adding player tendancies this year too, something 2k is now on the 2nd generation, and really it's the 3rd since the people who made Inside Drive 04 are working on Nba 2k series, and that game was the first to have tendencies. So, knowing how unbalanced new features are in EA games, Im guessing the tendencies will be all out of whack.

They are actually balancing the superstar features so only the true stars of the league (Kobe, T-Mac) etc, can use it effectively, while the one dimensional players can still use it but not even close to the same effectiveness.
My roommate in college had all the NBA Live games and I had one of the NBA 2k's, so ya, I have experienced both first-hand and logically, have come to the conclusion that NBA Live is a complete joke, in ALL aspects of what a basketball simulation should be. Of course the block party in NBA Live pisses the hell out of me, but whenever you use a tremedously high ranked dunker, you can basically dunk on anyone from the free throw line. Lets not even bring up the Allstar game mode. Its just flippin' ridiculous what you are able to do there. I was down 30pnts at the half, then I put Peja into the game and I won by 3 points by scoring every single basket in the 2nd half off 3 pnters. Is this even possible?
So you're telling me that Kwame Brown should not be able to dominate any basketball video game? Is this possible as well? How do you prevent someone from using Kwame Brown in a video game to his full potential? Its not hard if you've mastered the control scheme and have good bball IQ for the video game. You cant expect the programmers to be biased and make Kwame miss every single dunk or layup to prevent him from being dominant.

I was talking about tendencies really, Live will have them for the first time this year, while 2k will be on their second version of it, and 3rd version that the developers have worked on. Tendencies, you know, the sliders that each individual player gets in 2k, that dictates what their game is? 2k7 has 16 sliders, and 20-30 tendency ratings that govern how a player plays the game, what they like to do etc.

Stick with your NBA Live. NBA 2K blows Live away in the game reviews and ratings anyways. I dont need to justify anything to you. The things you are asking for are basically impossible. Nobody is going to play an NBA video game with 12 minute quarters. You're complaining because Billups scores too fast? If everyone scored at normal rates, the final score for your average 4 minute quarter game would be 20 to 30 points.

Exactly. But 2k is suppose to be godly realistic right? Is scoring 50 in that short amount of time possible? I think the most anyone has scored in a quarter was only 30. I guess Billups is an all time great.

I personally think people buy a lot of EA games out of tradition more than anything else. They are just used to the game, and dont really care if there's an actual better product. Because, from like 1997 to 2003 Live was absolutely horrible and it sold well. But then again, it might be changing as the 2k series inches closer and closer in sales to Live, and 2k6 even outsold Live 06 on Xbox 360.

4.) Superstar moves. Alot of people hate it, but its damn fun. I personally don't like outside scorer or high flyer but I love playmaker and inside scorer. Perimeter defender is the only move that is easily abused becuase you can get so many steals.
And this is only 06, which I consider one of the worst versions of live ever made.

I can dominate with Marko Jaric in NBA 2k6. All basketball games are unrealistic today. Who cares? Is it realistic that teams can shoot 80% in NBA 2K6? Not really. I still like NBA Live and I anticipate that this one will be much improved...though I wish the superstar mode deal wasn't so unstoppable. But what is the difference in 2k6??? You can still back a player down and dunk in his face every time everytime.

Emotional attachment? I already said 06 is the worst of the series. I never bashed 2k like you do with live. I DON'T go into the 2k topic and bash 2k. well, maybe not an idiot, but they are misinformed about these games and only buy Live because of the name.
knicks are going to be nasty in nba live lol they always make francis a superstar and channing frye and eddy curry will both have good ratings, marbury will be like an 89 again with jamal coming off the bench as a playmaker and q rich as a shooter
i usually buy nba live but it is getting to be garbage the way they shoot is terrible defense is almost impossible and gameplay graphics keep getting worse my favorite was live 2004 but i lost it so i might get 2K7 this time see how it is
I wonder if Live is going to have actual realistic rebounding now...you know, something that the 2k series have had already? Enough with the ball being vacuum sucked into the hands of whoever has a higher rebounding rating thats been the trademark of every single Live game so far. We want contested rebounds, body contact, balls being batted back into the air and flying across court...(which interestingly enough has been on the 2k series and makes gameplay infinately more realistic)
