Re: The Saddest Truth: Shaq is now The Big Embarrassment
The saddest truth: Your Laker homerism made you write (albeit articulately) a hate spiel against one of the greatest players to ever don the purple, just a wee bit too soon.
"where were we all 7 months ago?" you inquire. Not hating on the Diesel my friend.
Yo GTS, tell me how our collective asses taste.
BTW Laker fans, isn't it just a wee bit hypocritical to be hating Shaq for his immaturity when your boy Kobe openly quit in a past playoff game and could never get on with his teammates?
so only non laker fans are allowed to be critical of shaq? or dare be labled a "homer" how old are you anyways...
don't start crap unless you have your facts straight, i have been and always have been one of the lakers biggest critics over the years, but instead of a taking an unbiased eye you see a laker avatar on the post and go into knee jerk "homer homer alert mode"....
once again your final pie throwing of comparing kobe's oncourt failures to shaqs off court behavior shows you clearly are not on the maturity level to even be discussing things in a relevant matter...
best of luck to you

No matter how you twist it this thread equals a massive fail.
To sports fans the hardest truths to face are often the ones that were in view the longest, these truths screamed from the rooftops yet we refused to hear, we refused to see them for what they are despite all efforts by the truth itself to enlighten us.
Instead as fans we make excuses

Re: The Saddest Truth: Shaq is now The Big Embarrassment
Haha this is so odd, I came across this article through google. Awesome job gts...I'd say that even if I wasn't a Laker fan, its just a well-written article in general. Also its evident that gts is speaking of Shaq's disgraceful behavior off the court, which pretty much sums up the public opinion of Shaq. I mean, I have lots of friends who are huge fans of Shaq but not too fond of his demeanor off the court. There's no doubt we respect Shaq's legacy as a basketball player but as an individual, he has a long way to go.

Re: The Saddest Truth: Shaq is now The Big Embarrassment
not a conclusion at all just an opinon, no right no wrong, just a point of view from watching shaq over his many years in the NBA... just an opinon...
thanks for sharing yours btw
peace
From your viewpoint, it was drawn up as a conclusion. You said people can't accept facts, which isn't the case. I agree it's easier for people to just come back in this thread months later and laugh, but that's the nature of how messageboards usually work. When you're wrong, people come back and laugh, and when you're right; most people would usually appreciate...

Sorry But I love To BUMP THIS THREAD!

Re: The Saddest Truth: Shaq is now The Big Embarrassment
Hahaha - I actually wrote a thread about two weeks ago in which I stated Shaq was no longer relevant in the NBA... people went nuts. Heck, this was written in 2008.
Nice bump!

Re: The Saddest Truth: Shaq is now The Big Embarrassment
He had his moments for the Cavs this year, and I believe had we ever gotten the chance to face Orlando, perhaps he could have made a difference, but coming back from that injury, he was slow to work himself back into shape.
He had his moments during the regular season, for sure. it's just that you knew he was going to miss his usual 20-30 games. At times, he would just catch the ball in the low post, and everything else would stop, to the detriment of the team. lacked some of his usual touch as well.

So if I make a post that says Kobe is irrelevant to the NBA and that he's an embarrassment, and I make the post today, do I get props when it becomes true in 10 years? Lol.
Point being that you can't expect someone to respect you for predicting something that is 100% bound to happen.
For the record, Shaq isn't an embarrassment. He's a shadow of his former self but that's about it. He's still better than most centers in the NBA despite his age and shape.

I know that you are, but that's beside the point. I was referring to Glen Davis causing that Shaq injury and karma biting him in the behind for it.

It WAS true then as it is true now.....what has Shaq done???? Nothing!!!
I will say that I don't get the reason to dredge this up at this time to discuss.....what is the point of picking on the guy?

No, he's not. Not even a little bit. People shouldn't expect him to be the Shaq of old... because he isn't nor is he anywhere close to it...
I want you to tell me he isn't still better than half the league so I can call you a tool. Please tell me.

Shaq isn't better than half the starters in the league (slight exaggeration here, maybe about 33-35%).
btw - do you guys know this thread is a couple years old? People are posting as if this thread was posted yesterday lol

Yes, we know. Thanks.
To be an embarrassment he'd have to not be able to compete at the NBA level anymore, which he certainly still can, and quite well, mind you. The thread was wrong 2 years ago and it's still wrong today despite the fact that he's gotten even worse.

Re: The Saddest Truth: Shaq is now The Big Embarrassment
he should have left the league by now and became a stupid sheriff or whatever he wants to be.
