Tony Jones: Tomorrow
The Utah Jazz are bringing in 11 players in their next round of pre-draft workouts on Sunday. Headlining the pair of workouts is UCLA big TJ Leaf, who averaged 16.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season and is projected as a first-round pick in the June 22 NBA Draft.
When Thomas Bryant wanted to fill time in his room at Indiana, he would pick up a pencil and draw. Not basketball plays
As of the 2018 playoffs, it will have been 10 years since the Jazz won even one game in the West semifinals.
That goal seems modest at the moment. But to make it easily achievable, the Jazz have to keep Gordon Hayward in free agency and they have to defer a playoff meeting with the Warriors until the conference finals.
Dallas getting upset by the 8th seed is what got them to the finals last time they were there
I'll be intrigued about how the Jazz can keep building around him and how internal improvement with the likes of Rodney Hood and Trey Lyles can enable them to make up some ground with Golden State.
Hood isn't going to get a lot better. He needs to be able to stay healthy and understand his role though. Lyles is young enough that there is still hope but he needs to learn to play with others. If he keeps thinking he's his hero Kobe he'll be out of the league and playing China with his old teammate Burke. Bolomboy may have passed him already with possibly more picks on the way ready to take his spot. You have to keep getting better or you'll be out of the league. No mention of Exum. Neto or Wallace? Burks is still young enough to come back and with two years on his contract they need him to. Joe Johnson, Ingles and Diaw certainly aren't the answers though.
The Jazz have to try to put together the best team they can that matches up with GS. At some point GS will falter rather it be because of injuries, egos or boredom and the Jazz need to be ready to pounce like Detroit did against the Lakers which came apart because of Kobe's ego. I've got my doubts if they will. Joe Johnson and Ingles have to go. I doubt they will. It's not the way the Jazz have done things but we'll see if the new front office and coach actually have a clue or not
If he's available at No. 24, I'd take him.
Doesn't sound long enough for them
Bryant is a 6-foot-10 big man with an incredible 7-foot-6 wingspan who played at Indiana as a sophomore last year.
This sounds like their type of guy. Even longer than Favors
Utah's power forward spot is in a bit of flux. Derrick Favors is entering the final year of his contract. Boris Diaw's contract is nonguaranteed for next season. Trey Lyles took a significant step back last season. Joe Johnson, for all of his brilliance last year, is still better suited for coming off the bench at this point of his career.
Again no mention of Bolomboy and I can easily see him in the rotation ahead of Lyles possibly even starting once Favors goes. Johnson needs to go. Doesn't match-up with GS
After all, the Warriors' four best players are all still relatively young. Steph Curry is only 29 years old, Durant is just 28, and Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are both 27 so, assuming that Golden State does everything it can to keep this terrifically talented core group together
Perrin said Leaf is a better shooter than Lyles but that the third-year-to-be Jazz forward is a better ballhandler and playmaker.
Potentially. Don't you have to pass the ball occasionally to be a playmaker?
As a team that prides itself defensively, but is also looking to win now rather than merely plan for the future, those are two traits that the Jazz will have to take into large consideration before selecting Leaf.
Please list these guys that will help them win now?
Gordon has the upper hand. The Jazz cannot do much more than wait. Will Hayward follow the example set by the statues?
No they can try to improve the team. Depending on what happens before July 1st they can go into their meeting with him with a plan to put a better team around him and Gobert. They must do that because the other teams will have a plan
If Hayward decides to leave Utah, I will always believe the decision to leave was made long ago.
Can you blame him? The team still hasn't been all in and they were only partially in this past year because he was a free agent.
Robyn Hayward, the wife of Utah Jazz All-Star Gordon Hayward, posted a completely innocent picture on Instagram of her and her daughter Bernie snuggling with one another. However, NBA fans noticed a potentially subliminal message in the photo as the two-year-old was wearing a green shirt with a shamrock on it that read
