Young Amare stoudemire.
Wade for mine.
As effortlessly as Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard dunk (I think they're the best in game dunkers) BUT... for me the most exciting in game dunker is Derrick Rose:

The explosiveness this guy gets when he jumps is insane.
I just like his "body language" better when he dunks (if that makes any sense), like he's angry at the rim.
Reminds me of how Latrell Sprewell used to attack the rim all mad as hell.
even Steve Nash on the sideline is like "oh, no he didn't!" and Grant Hill and Amare look shocked
how can I forget this gem? OMG that was siiiiiiiick
I think he got that after getting a steal in the backcourt too....
and yea, Rose goes at the rim with a sense of anger, which is quite contrary to his demeanor during everything else. He seems so calm when he gets hit, calm when he plays, calm in interviews, but when he cocking the ball back to hammer it home, he does seem like he's pissed off at it, like it stole his bike or something.
Melo.
I'm a Melo homer too, but lol

I do love his style when he dunks it and doesn't pull down the ring or anything, I don't think he really even touches it.

Yeah, I mean I know what the guy I was responding to was saying, but Carmelo is not that great at dunking. He's really quick off the ground, but he's not that powerful a finisher. He gets blocked quite a bit. I think it might be because his hands are kind of small (he can palm the ball, but just barely). He's got style though, I'll give him that. He has pretty good body control in the air.
The most exciting in-game dunker to me, currently, in the NBA is Blake Griffin. I'm not ready to call his body of work equal or greater than Vince Carter's, but I'm not upset at the comparisons. I'm always excited to see what Blake does next. Vince may have been the last player to provoke such a feeling. In fact, there's a part of me who still watched Suns highlights whenever I could last year just on the off chance VC may have flashed back the clock a little.

yeah, pre-micro Amar'e was just insane. Watch him in the 2002 high school dunk contest, just ridiculous that a 6'10 dude is moving like that. I think pre-surgery Amar'e makes a pretty decent case for best physical specimen at the power forward spot ever. So quick, so explosive, so strong, such good body control. He had no Achilles heel either like the other guys I would consider. Kemp had small hands, Blake has short arms, KG was skinny, Chuck was short, and Malone wasn't that quick.
Dunno. Thing is we don't have that much footage of Vince rookie season. But believe me... I mean it's not that easy to claim that Griffin is better in game, contact dunker. You're talking about damn Vince Carter here. Don't get carried away
But if we're talking about the current NBA, we're talking about the current Vince Carter. Right?
And you can't honestly say that the current Vince Carter is a more exciting in-game dunker than the current Blake Griffin.
Lebron James, Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard, no explanation needed really.
How exactly are dwight howards in game dunks exciting. Most of them are just power dunks.
With all the hype and highlights..Blake Griffin

Its exciting, just overpowering everybody, then just jumping so super high looking down into the rim and smashes it with the fury of an angry god, same goes for Blake Griffin. Lebron James aswell, but he does it more from the perimeter, of the dribble then explodes by and overpowers anybody, then takesoff that bionic left leg and he goes up so high, cocks the ball way back and then smashes it down so hard like the rim just killed his family, anybody who dares stand in the way gets posterised, which brings extra excitement.
There is a reason Dwight, Blake and Lebron lead most often in dunks made.
currently? clearly blake griffin and it aint even close
