You posters just don't get it. Your're taking those comparisons I made too literal instead of focusing on the similar points at hand. Mentally ill kids are a danger to our normal kids ability to freely have fun. Also there's lots of mentally ill children who are also not only a harm too themselves but others.
If mentally retarded kids should be treated equal then wouldn't they be in the same classes with the normal kids? Well they're not, because they are not normal and should only be around their own.
The problem is not that your posts are offending anyone...they just don't make any sense at all. Mental illness and mental retardation are not the same thing, you can't interchange them. You simply have no clue at all what you're talking about.
For example, mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association include hundreds of different conditions, such as various depressive forms, autism, schizophrenia, OCD, anxiety disorders and so on. By putting "mentally ill kids" into one big category, claiming they are a "danger to normal kids", you just show a lack of any knowledge of the topic whatsoever. I'm "mentally ill" by the way, diagnosed with a high functioning form of autism. Went to a "normal" school, will start with university this fall.
Now you're essentially putting me into a category where I'm a "danger" to normal people and should be isolated. And it's not that I'm offended, not at all. It's just shocking that, well, you have a brain...kind of. And you really believe the stuff you write make any sense? That's what annoys me, people like you have the right to vote...
Then you go on and start to talk about "mentally retarded" kids. Guess what, not all kids being diagnosed with a mental disorder are also suffering from retardation. Yet, you mix up everything into a big bunch of incoherent nonsense.
So yeah, I really think you posts are harmless and shouldn't offend anybody. But they simply don't make any sense at all. I mean if some mentally retarded kid would've written this, we could say "Yeah, he's got brain damage, put him away". But what is your excuse?
Needing special attention is not the same as quarantining these kids from the rest of society. How are we supposed to move forward as a society when we have such backward thinkers?
Ironically enough they should be the ones separated from society
everyone should have some empathy for people with problems like this .. but if the kid is walking around yelling profanities around the neighborhood then that needs to be stopped .. the first part of her letter was ok(minus the namecalling and such) .. she just took it to some other place
Needing special attention is not the same as quarantining these kids from the rest of society. How are we supposed to move forward as a society when we have such backward thinkers?
What? Your're quarantined when you need special attention due to virus or infection so your seperated from others, JUST like mentally ill kids in school. How can you not see the correlation?
I feel the pink stationery softens the harshness of the letter. It's a nice, unexpected touch.....
Look, I'm not being insensitive, but these are things we think about in our head without saying it outloud. Imagine frankenstein coming outside yelling in a Yette voice and there's kids outside trying to play but their afraid? I'm not saying put this mentally handicapped kid to sleep, I'm just saying the parent of that kid needs to isolate him/her. Let it play in the backyard and watch TV or go to the park.
Yes, because parks need to be quiet and calm places. Because non special needs kids are calm and quiet in the park.
Are you actually aware that children aren't quiet nor calm?

:facepalm
It's a difference between children playing, and one kid yelling out curse words spinning in a circle banging his head on a park bench.
And to the bloke Dr dre, I realized that a posted a typo just now with the use of the word "retarded". I was more discussing kids that are like the one in the letter posted in this thread. And I am informed.
And I am informed.

Mentally I'll kids are like old drunks or Schizophrenia patients. Imagine a old drunk standing outside while your're cooking out with family and friends and he's yelling explicitives at the top of his lungs acting like an ape?
:lol
To summarize the most important parts of this paragraph...
Old Drunks
Schizophrenia patients
Mentally ill kids
Yelling out expletives
Acting like an ape
Good job! You're quite informed for sure.
Oh, and btw...the only thing the woman was complaining about in the letter was some sound she doesn't like because it's not "normal" and her kids are afraid of it. Well big deal, dogs scared the sh*t out of me when I was a kid. So what? I mean if the mentioned kid was outside beating up other children or raping the neighbor's dog or stuff, the yeah, he shouldn't be allowed to go outside. But this is not mentioned in the letter. So what exactly are you talking about? She wasn't even implying the kid is louder than other sounds in the neighborhood or does it all the time. She's simply not used to it and wants it to stop, without any good arguments at all.
Look, if you want to play devil's advocate, then do it right. Write some semi decent stuff about lack of empathy in autistic persons, throw in some stuff about how there's money spent on the disabled that could be used otherwise. This way, there's at least something to talk about and you'd give us some reason to believe that you aren't actually brain damaged yourself. I mean if you're in to have fun looking at outraged responses and stuff I'd at least understand why you're writing that way. But if you seriously believe your posts make sense, I don't know...
So am I the only bloke that lold while reading this letter?:lol
I wanna punch you in the face.
Dr dre. It isn't about outraged responces. It's about mentally ill kids needing to be seperated from normal kids. You writing walls of texts because I agree with not only this woman's stance, but what most people actually think about this situation isn't even needed. If you knew how to read, you would understand why I made observational comparisons. Me saying "old drunk" and other words were not to say "this is EXACTLY what the kid is" but to simply state that the reaction these children recieve and the non normal acts of this child would be viewed how society reacts to schizo's and crazy drunks or ape's.
:facepalm
This made the news here in Canada. I know its not the only person that probably feels that way but i just cant believe how heartless some people can be. :banghead:
I hope she will get what she deserves. Im sure its already hard enough for the mother to have to take care and deal with the needs of her child.

Seems like a bored male teenager wrote this. Not a big deal at all considering teenager do dumb stuff.

Okay, then please tell me to which mental illnesses this idea should apply, and how you'd define the other group of "normal kids". So how should this work in a practical context?
What? Your're quarantined when you need special attention due to virus or infection so your seperated from others, JUST like mentally ill kids in school. How can you not see the correlation?
Holy shit this is baffling. Done trying to talk sense into you.
