I've known people who try to emulate him. OP is only 12 years old though and I can understand why 12 year olds would be more interested in who is on ESPN top 10 highlights but I've known mature players who are realistic in their abilities and physical attributes and try to emulate Duncan's style. Of course these people I know aren't 7" tall but in regular ball around here anything over low 6 foot is a big man.

Just because your pre teen brain doesn't understand it doesn't make it dumb.
I've known plenty of people who once they realise they are never going to be an athletic freak start to work on things like their bank shot and post up/fade away game and try to emulate old man duncan. As they mature they realise they aren't as fast or flashy as others so they work on their fundamentals. I know english is your second language but it's not a hard concept.
cuz he's a role player, nobody wants to play like a role player

Maybe in 2014 NBA Finals. Lebron and Duncan with the same numbers of finals MVP next season.

You dumb for thinking I'm a teen and retarden for thinking that there's a lot of people out there that strives to be like Duncan on the basketball court. Nobody agrees with you in this thread on that. Duncan is too damn boring, non flashy and corny.
Many people, not just kids, are drawn to the extraordinary. High flying exploits and incredibly crafty dribbling maneuvers resonate because they're different, they're original, and they're exciting forms of self-expression. We tend to be wowed by those who go above and beyond, pulling off something for which we are not accustomed to seeing. And many players are naturally attracted to trying to induce such wow.
That said, I think some kids deserve more credit. When I was younger, I wished I could dunk like Shawn Kemp but my influences were often more grounded. My shot came from Sean Elliott, my open floor breakouts came from Latrell Sprewell and Grant Hill and my willingness to move without the ball and flesh out a midrange game came from Richard Hamilton. Many kids or adults are fans of the spectacular but still pick and choose strategies and influences from more realistic corners. I've personally come across a bevy of players throughout the years who've tried to over-use the window in honor of Tim.

except for all the people who've said similar things about his influence on bank shots :facepalm
I never said a lot of people either, keep taking those ESL classes, I just said I've known plenty of people who were strongly influenced by his game and that it was usually as they aged and gave up on the dream of being able to throw down flashy dunks and drives. He's the poster boy for people who focus heavily on fundamentals.

Read my opening post again niguh. I said kids and street ballers not people who gave up on their dream or people who are too old to even be flashy. Reading comprehension my niguh.

In what world are street ballers all children? If you are using your own imaginary rules and only thinking about and 1 type street ballers then yes they will all be flashy but if you are talking about actual street ballers who play pick up games I know plenty who aren't flashy. Just because an answer doesn't fit your agenda doesn't mean it's wrong....

Duncan is a top 10 player all time and a 5 time champion. Your assertion that nobody strives to be like him is false. This may be hard for you to accept but a lot of people would prefer being a great player over being flashy.
