the sad part is, they are not only locked into a long-term, bloated, guaranteed contract with carmelo anthony, but one w/ phil jackson as well that has a 5 year 60M guaranteed deal (with him also responsible for the carmelo signing).
i don't see carmelo anthony tradeable unless the knicks can win basketball games with him, and he can show he is healthy, and it is not clear he can
play at a superstar level with this triangle offense. i don't see a way to dump that big of a contract.
i would have to believe carmelo anthony is more valuable to the new york nicks at 25M a year, then to some other team for 29M a year. there is no way they will get any players in return that have expiring or even shorter contracts.
if he could thrive playing a different offense, it is a question whether the triangle offense should be scrapped, with jackson most likely leaving in that scenario. i think they should keep things how they are for now, in the off-season bring in a better coach and a new offense
