Re: The fact that Black Panther got nominated over Infinity war is a disgrace
Looking at Rotten Tomatoes there is an interesting disparity between the critics and fan ratings.
Critics ratings
Black Panther 97%
Infinity War 85%
Fan Ratings
Black Panther 79%
Infinity War 91%
I don't care either way but just thought the disparity was odd. I liked both of them.
Critics and fan ratings are always disparate . They are never the same in almost any discipline. Heck, even the Titanic had a bigger disparity than Black Panther. And Black Panther gets an absurd number of irrational haters even in this thread.
Re: The fact that Black Panther got nominated over Infinity war is a disgrace
For whomever saw both and has seen all Marvel movies leading up to Infinity War
1. Infinity War had better acting
While this is totally subjective no journalist is going to embarrass themselves and say Brolin, Downing or Holland deserved awards for their acting. While I liked them (Zoe and Hemsworth too) I didn't say let me watch it again for the acting. All of the acting was good. With that said: Boseman was more convincing as a leader. B. Jordan and Serikis were better as villains.
Four actors or actresses (Idi Amin, Tina Turner, James Brown or Jackie Robinson, Adonis) have iconic roles from Panther. Lupita will be the fifth to make it next year with her role as Adelaid in the upcoming horror flick "Us". Like Avengers there were no bad acting on the set and several stand out performances. In general the human story is much better in Black Panther. I felt some for Gamora.

2. Infinity War had a better story
IW doesn't have an ending. And because what we saw wasn't even real (sorry but we all know that even the middle doesn't really happen). Sorry there are no good stories without a solid middle and no resolute ending, with just a nut who wants to destroy half the universe. The human story is lost among super powered beings.
3. Infinity War had better special effects
True. But it had to.
4. Infinity War is the 3 levels above Black Panther in every aspect
God forbid they get called racists right?
I don't think you thought this one through.

It wasn't a very good movie though.. Definitely not as good as rottentomatoes critics reviews. It's not worth watching in theater -- worth watching once but zero re-watch value and not Oscar-worthy.. Maybe for CGI, cinematography, etc I would nominate for. Still, it's not in the same universe as Infinity War.
If I'm comparing Black Panther directly to Infinity War, then it's a slap in the face to nominate Black Panther for anything and not nominate Infinity War for same stuff - Infinity War should win over Black Panther for almost all of those awards. I understand the social value of it being the first movie with full black cast/crew/production/etc and it's inspirational in that manner, but I can't judge a movie and nominations on that alone. That's not reasonable and going way too far. What do you tell the cast/crew of Infinity War? "You are not all black so you don't deserve this nomination"??
Re: The fact that Black Panther got nominated over Infinity war is a disgrace
Let’s keep it real. Marvel movies aren’t exactly Oscar caliber, unless you’re talking about a special effects award. Nominating Black Panther is obviously social justice pandering to avoid #OscarsSoWhite criticisms.

Even as popcorn flicks neither were particularly great.

Bingo.
The idea that Black Panther is up for best picture... LMAOOOOOOOOOOO.
And wtf, Infinity War has no place in the best picture category, either. OP is being a moron, here.
They're ****ing comic book movies... campy ones, even.
There's only even been one performance worthy of oscar consideration in my time as a legal adult to come out of a superhero movie... Heath Ledger's joker... that's it. Nevermind the entire movie getting a nom for best picture... how absurd.

IW does not have a story that fans can believe in. It wasn't finished. It's human story is at best weak. Thanos was never called the best villain in the MCU like Kilmonger was. https://www.quora.com/What-makes-Killmonger-in-Black-Panther-2018-the-best-villain-in-MCU. And those articles are numerous. IW had no chance at an award.

Black Panther, with a better story, a better protagonist, a more human story, a far better acting cast, a story more rooted in human history, it provides a better look at the psychology of the underdog, and is filled with exoticism of three different continents; Black Panther was only nominated for its musical score and best picture. There is no argument that Infinity War having a better original musical score you just need to be laughed at and the conversation done with.
If you disagree with anything above please explain yourself. Most of it disqualifies Infinity Wars from being in the running of best picture. And this is all basic stuff you waaaay overlooked.

TBH, neither should be nominated for best picture. Score, okay fine Black Panther should be nominated for sure. It had some African music blend that I liked.
