Re: Harden is averaging almost 40ppg
lol at people acting like Harden wouldn't absolutely dominate in an era with no zone defense and the likes of Craig Ehlo and Jeff "the beast" Hornacek guarding you every night :oldlol:
If Harden tried his shit in the 90s he would get knocked the fk out so fast.
You saw what Artest did you a young Harden right? Before he was even famous for this BS?
Now imagine an entire league full of Artests.
Harden wouldn't average 10ppg in the 90s.
AI would average 30+ ppg in today

You lot really exaggerate how it was in the 90s, "a league full of Artests" :lol
If 4'10 Mugsey Bogues can average a double double in that era then Harden should easily put up 30+
Re: Harden is averaging almost 40ppg
Harden is the adult version of the kid who masters the timing of M. Bison's Psycho Crusher in Street Fighter 2 and uses only that move. With a little practice, you can still win against it, but it's a ****ing slog and makes you wonder why you're playing the game in the first place, so you usually just go outside and ride bikes instead.

The overexaggertion with this one is strong. A league full of Artests? Yeah, no.
Harden averaging 10 ppg in the 90s? Holy shit what a dumb thing to say. You're devaluing the **** out of him
First of all, his career average as a starter (with Houston) WITHOUT free throws is almost 21 ppg, so don't try to tell me he wouldn't be able to score even if free throws were limited. Harden's a quick, crafty guy who also happens to be really strong. I remember in 2014-15, he was hitting mid-range jumpers consistently. He could've easily implemented that shot in the 90s.
I'm not saying he'd be averaging above 35 ppg in that era. However, I am saying is that he'd still be a star probably averaging somewhere around 24-30 ppg along with his usual 7-8 apg, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
Re: Harden is averaging almost 40ppg
This is the result of playing in the weakest defensive era in league history. People think we're joking when we say that Kobe or MJ would average 40-45 points a game in this era.. Harden hasn't been able to hit three well in most of these games but he's still putting up 39.5 ppg...

Lately he's been hitting the 3 pretty well.
In the Rockets' current 7 game win streak, Harden's averaging 43/8/7 on a 45/41/81 shooting split

Yeah but he was averaging like 36 a night while shooting like 20% from three the first few weeks. He's a great player don't get me wrong but he's mastered this era in terms of exploiting the rules.
Re: Harden is averaging almost 40ppg
Old man Wizards MJ was giving the league the business.
Old man 98 season MJ was more explosive and athletic than Harden has ever been.
MJ would average 40 plus EASILY today.

Re: Harden is averaging almost 40ppg
Kobe and MJ would need to shoot 5-6 times more a game than Harden to get 40ppg.
Would be interesting to see them try 30+ shots per game.
