I don't think any economist thinks running large, growing trade deficits is a good thing. And this trade war will only last if Mexico and Canada don't make more concessions. Funny thing is, historically both Canada and China have had higher tariffs than the US while conveniently maintaining a big trade surplus with the US in their favor. Trump has leverage to get the US a better deal, unfortunately he's in a more multicultural, divided country than China and Mexico, and they are betting the partisan politics, and liberals weak stomach for confrontation, will force Trump to cave. But if he does succeed in getting the US a better trade deal you can bet your bottom f*cking dollar the libs are sticking with that deal just like Biden kept ALL the Trump tariffs on China
