Re: Wilt Chamberlain wilted under pressure in the playoffs and finals
Wilt never had a game like this with his legacy on the line. Wilt was out there shooting 1-11 from the FT line in similar high pressure games.

Re: Wilt Chamberlain wilted under pressure in the playoffs and finals
Wilt didn't choke or wilted under pressure. He just wasn't as good as he's made out to be. There are game footages on Youtube you can watch and judge for yourself.
Also the style and minutes he played...yeah you are going to wear down when you are playing against 5 HOFers.
I mean he could have been like the most dominant player of all-time Shaq and got swept 6 times. But going 7 games against the Celtics and Knicks is I guess "wilting".

He had 100 points against the lottery knicks bt.

Why couldn't LeBron do it.?

Cause LeBron didn't play against insurance salesman and cab drivers
Re: Wilt Chamberlain wilted under pressure in the playoffs and finals
He was great in the regular season. But he struggled offensively in the playoffs and NBA finals. His nickname was also the Big Dipper.
That's not really true. The only Finals he played in his prime he averaged 29 ppg 28 rpg on 51.7% shooting. He averaged 29 points 27 rebounds on 53% shooting vs. that same Boston team in the RS in '64. The league was small and there were only a few good teams in his prime, his stats are inflated from playing those bad teams a lot.

The issue is those guys could deny him the ball. Pretty rare that he shot significantly worse in a Playoff series in his prime, he just didn't get as many shots up, and even if he did at times his teammates weren't doing shit and they still lost.

His scoring went down in every postseason. It's true.

Wilt also never choked even close to as hard as Lebron did in 2011. That was the worst choke job in the history of the sport. I'm not sure if you were following basketball back then, so you should educate yourself about it.

And you should ESPECIALLY watch this one. This is, in a nutshell, why Lebron has been out of the GOAT conversation since that series.

Of course he did. He was outscored by Don Nelson in the Finals.
A guy you thought made the HOF for his playing career. :lol

Not even in the same ballpark as 2011.
You can't force somebody to be educated. All you can do is give them the tools. :confusedshrug:

Why wasn't it in the same ball park? At least provide your explanation.
Wilt was coming off blowing a 3-1 lead in 1968. He forms a superteam in the offseason and joins West & Baylor, 2 of the 5 best players in the league. He is a big favorite in the Finals against an aging Celtics team, then proceeds to get outscored by Don Nelson and lose the series despite having a teammate that averaged 38/5/7.
That is at least on par with 2011, and social media and this forum would have clowned Wilt if those things existed back then. Only difference is Wilt again pulls another choke the next season in 1970, while LeBron has a historic run in 2012.

Lebron scored 8 points in game four. ZERO points in the fourth quarter, and the game was razor close. Came down to the final seconds.
Worst. choke. job. in. the. history. of. the. sport.
Nothing Wilt ever did came close. Lebron wilted worse than Wilt. :lol

That's cute.
Wilt in the '69 Finals had a game where he scored 4 points, and two other games where he scored 8.

Re: Wilt Chamberlain wilted under pressure in the playoffs and finals
What gets forgotten in history is Jerry West stated after the '69 Finals that he would pick Bill Russell over Wilt Chamberlain for a single game. Wilt was his own teammate. :oldlol:
Can you imagine if D-Wade said something similar about LeBron in 2011? We would never hear the end of it.
I don't blame West, imagine having the greatest NBA Finals series ever to that point only to lose because of a big choker like Wilt.

Imagine how many rings Wade would have if he wasn't teamed up with the guy known as "LeShrivel" - the biggest choker in the history of the sport.
I'd rather have Russell or Wilt over Lebron for a single game.
