Re: Jordan Speaks On Load Managing
Jordan has trouble walking. He can no longer play ball recreationally because his body is in such bad shape. He said so recently.
Load management comes from science, from doctors understanding sports physiology.
As hardcore as Jordan was and wants to come across now, he himself would be in far better shape had he had load management.
Maybe he could even pick the ball up at 60 or whatever age he is.
There is maybe no better example of "toughness posturing" in sports as load management. Fans even want to seem "tough" by talking down load management, calling the players "weak" for using it etc. Fans often reference the past; but take a look at most of those players, their bodies are a wreck.
Who cares if he could ball at 60? 95% of regular people cant play pick up at that age. Its a young mans game and you give it your all while you can. If he had this soft ass attitude saving himself for 60 he wouldn't be the GOAT.

MJ couldn't go more than 7yrs (87-93) in his era without needing to walk away due to mental and physical fatigue. Highly doubt he plays all those full regular seasons if he's playing at the pace the game is being played today.

The overall talent and hustle is on another level compared to where it was when MJ first joined. Not to mention overall spacing is superior which means defenders have to cover more ground now.
Watch some regular season games from the 80's, mid-range shots were basically 3 pointers which made it way easier for defenders and you see a lot of players playing lazy transition defense.

What is this based on besides you dudes talking out your asses? Highly doubt? Bwhahaha
These arguments remind me of someone who runs from a fight then says you would have done the same. Everyone is not soft like you. There’s nothing on MJ resume that screams load management. Stop acting like today’s game is way more difficult to play in vs yesterday’s. Defending load management makes me question some of you “males”, respectfully

I blame the Spurs for this. They were really the first team to take load management to another level around 2012 or so. Other teams began to copy them.

I never claimed he load managed during the season. Did you read what he said in the OP? Did you see the whole video? MJ is given the questions ahead of time and practices his answers ahead of time. A video is shown of him early in his career where he turned his ankle. From there it was nothing but him blowing himself cause others "tried to talk me into coming out of the game" then of course how "I pushed back and told them fans are here to see me, I can't let them down... blah... blah ... blah... look how kind hearted I was thinking of the fans. Dude's scared to do live interviews and knows he's fading.

In theory no but in practicality yes.
There's no way around it. Players are putting way more mileage on during a given game than at any point in history. The game is more fast paced on both offense and defense than at any point in history. That's why even with the load management you're still seeing so many injuries.
The solution is reducing the number of games.

This is the most obvious solution, an 82 game schedule is completely antiquated in this day and age. This isn't 1955 when you had 3 tv channels and the radio to compete with, there are too many entertainment options available today for fans to sit through 82 games over 7 months for games that, let's keep it real, are meaningless on an individual basis.
I've been saying this for a long time, cut the schedule to 58 games, start the season after the Super Bowl so you're not in direct competition with the NFL for several months and can dominate the sports coverage, and I think you'd see a legitimate improvement in the quality of regular season games.
Players would be less likely to load manage, I think you'd see an improvement in player effort and intensity knowing the season is much shorter and you only play every team twice. You'd still have massive flaws like how comically geared towards offense the league is, but I think shortening the season would provide many benefits to the regular season.

Why should the NBA cut it's schedule significantly back when every other major sport has upped their regular season games?
NFL will soon be 18 games.
NHL is going to 84 games.
Why is 82 games so acquainted for the NBA but not for the other sports?

It's honestly crazy the NFL is trying to up it to 18. With all the injuries that happen every week, in the long run it only damages your product. 16 games was good enough.
In reality, all regular season games should be limited in every major sport, but owners will not allow it, they want the money to keep coming in.
