I believe the answer is yes but the Mavs would have to wait at least 60 days before they could package Chandler with anything.
ah okay, thank you :)
Yes, Expansion draft '03.
So Carroll and Crash finally reunited
Time to bring back Brevin Knight :D
I don't understand why is driving these changes among bigs.
Chandler, Dampier, Okafor. What is driving this?
Now that the GM is out of NO, we may be able to do what Dallas couldn't, trade for Collison or CP3.

in the case of Dallas this is soley to try and counter Splitter signing with the Spurs. He hates the Spurs mainly because he always out spends them but seldom out plays them.

uh not really.
they did it to unload the awful contracts of Matt Carroll and Eduardo Najera while simultaneously upgrading their backup center spot.
Now they have more flexibility for the future and a better player.
this shocked me a bit. That's an expensive C combo. They are loading up on length to deal with the Lakers and protect Kidd/Terry who can't defend the Parkers of the world. Or they possibly just wanted to get something for Dampier's voidable deal and will use Chandler in another trade.
MJ should have pulled the deal on the original deal. You dump Diaw's deal for Evans' and turn Chandler(who wasn't better than Nazr and Theo really last year) into the PG they badly need. You fill a hole without really creating another and give yourself a lot of financial flexibility now and going forward. Thomas is going to play most of the PF minutes anyways.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Dampier,Augustine,Diaw,Henderson,1st for Okafor,Paul? Saves 50 mil, gives you an athletic F(NO could use this), 2 talented, former first round guards and a first round pick. Probably better offers out there.
Hey Dallas, would you do Barea for Solomon Jones and some kind of future 2nd rounder?
good move for Dallas. Don't understand it from the bobcats side.
They clear some salary off the books and feel they can cover the loss of chandler at C.
[QUOTE=Se
The bobcats are obviously gonna try to trade Dampier.
I dont see why the Bobcats made this trade. They are trying to clear up some space or they like adding wack players
I could see Kidd and RB starting I guess, but I don't really like it. Jones isn't a PG, he's a SG. I think Dallas makes a move for a SG still, a normal sized one. I can't see Marion starting over Butler after how bad he was last year. They need to buy him out and swallow that one. Bad idea from the start to sign an athelticism dependent player to a long term deal when he's on the wrong side of 30.
Chandler for Rip Hamilton? Maybe include Wilcox and Stevenson. I think both sides win. Pistons get cap space next year and a C to team with Wallace while Monroe develops. Dallas already has a good C and no legit SG, just SFs and undersized combo guards.
Decent idea
So Okafor was traded for Dampier :lol
Anw the Mavs are a deeeeeep deeeeeep team

True. Cause all the length and depth against LA doesn't help us if we can't even make it to the second round, let alone the WCF (where the Lakers most probably will wait). I'm just hoping that Carlisle is gonna let Roddy start. At least that'd be an upgrade.

Word is we're gonna re-sign Adam Morrison.
Seriously though I have to believe that this trade is a set-up for another one. The cats don't have a starting PG and I can't see Larry Brown going into the season with DJ Augustin running the team.
Cats really clear 10 million by cutting Damp? how does that work exactly?
They actually can clear 13 million.
Dampier's contract is non-guaranteed, so if he gets waived, he doesn't get a dime.
Hopefully, when Dampier gets waived, then he can come to the Hawks. We need his size. We have our MLE still available.
Dirk
Terry
Haywood
Bulter
Marion
Kidd
Chandler
The Mavs are STACKED. Maybe they could meet the Heat in the final....again
no bullsh*tting this time Kidd

Well. Nazr Mohammed (Yes: Nazr Mohammed) has been better for the Cats than Chandler, the team just looks better with him out there. And I don't know if Ratliff is coming back? Ratliff was solid as well, so with those two and Diop still deep on the bench it's not even a stepback in quality.
The problem is that Carroll is owed something like 12 million over the next three seasons and Najera is owed 5 million over the next two seasons. Bobcats are actually taking on more money here.
Carroll may be one of the originals, and I'd take him back in an instant if we were sending some shit in return, because at least Carroll is a real competitor. But this is a bit much.

I am convinced that Chris Paul will be a Bobcat in the next week or two. He will instantly make the 'Cats a contender. Larry Brown will turn him into a perennial MVP and the 'Cats will finally compete with Orlando and now Miami. BUT...what to do with Oak's contract who will be attached to any Paul deal. I say take Oak's contract and Diop's and ship it Washington for Arenas and McGee. Washington wants to start the "John Wall years" and needs frontcourt help. They also are willing to take on Diop's contract to get rid of Arenas. Then, Arenas will be the sixth man of the year. I know its crazy to pay a bench player $20mil a year but if it yields us Paul and rids us of Diop, I'd do it!

NOW REMEMBER THIS POST NEXT TIME WE HAVE THE DIRK GETS NO HELP DEBATE.
Why? If the rest of the team plays like shit, roster depth doesn't help.
hawkfan called this trade scenario.
hawkfan = where amazing happens.

So, what's the next Bobcats trade?
So, what's the next Bobcats trade?
Trying to move DeSagna Diop and draft picks for Marvin Williams.
NOW REMEMBER THIS POST NEXT TIME WE HAVE THE DIRK GETS NO HELP DEBATE.
yep. dirk finally has defensive minded bigs to protect the paint and rim. it only took 13 years to do it.
i think the mavs are going to be great this year. 58 to 62 wins with a legit shot to beat the lakers in a series. i'd love to see the mavs go after arenas or someone though. i'm not sure i love having both haywood and chandler because you really can't play them at the same time because it would be impossible to score. i'd love to see a chandler/barea and something to the wizards for arenas.
Trying to move DeSagna Diop and draft picks for Marvin Williams.
really? That'd be interesting, but they don't need SF or combo F(Wallace,Diaw).
Maybe Bibby for Diop?
First trade with Toronoto made Charlotte better in every way compared to this one. They get a PG in Calderon and dump Diaw's deal. Now they are without Chandler, but with no PG, but still paying 8 mil annually to Najera and Carroll. STUPID!
Latest rumor floating around Charlotte: Wallace, Diaw, Dampier + picks in a multiteam deal for CP3 and Carmello Anthony.

We aren't trading our starting PG for a backup big.
We may trade our starting SF, since he does nothing on the court at times.
The Bobcats are looking to trade Diaw, so this gives them more flexibility to do that, since Marvin can take those minutes that would otherwise belong to Diaw.

If they play like shit like they did against the spurs, it wont matter.
