Re: European teams summer signings
Panathinaikos supposedly bought out Vassilis Kavvadas from Panionios.
HUGE transfer for PAO if true. This guy is the Greek big man of the future. PAO's team isn't looking too bad after all.
PG Ukic/Kitchen/Xanthopoulos
SG Diamantidis/Bramos/Zoumpos
SF American free agent/Maciulis/Giannopoulos
PF Panko/Tsartsaris/Kaselakis
C Schortsanitis/Kavvadas/American free agent
Depending on the last two transfers, Pedoulakis has put together a pretty strong team actually. The only doubt I have are about Kitchen's basketball I.Q. at the point, and the durability of Panko and Tsartsaris at PF. Still, that team should easily make the Top 16.

Re: European teams summer signings
Drew Gordon signed with Partizan and guard Jorge Gutierrez is on trial there . Two Cs are also on trial in Partizan , one is from Malta and is tall over 220 cm and othere is from Argentina .

Re: European teams summer signings
Panionios has put together a hell of a roster for their budget (€4 million euros).
PG Batis/Gibbs/Athinaiou
SG Pappas/Payne/Motsenigos
SF Giankovits/Milbourne/Athanasoulas
PF Nadjefji/Barlos/Melissaratos
C Kavvadas/Boateng/Bogris
Their manager did an incredible job putting together a roster that good for that budget.

Partizan is interested in Jacob Pullen , there are some rumors that Velickovic might come back to Partizan but because of his injures he won't be able to play until January .

He probably does not want to play for Giannakis in Limoges, since playing time is based on defensive effort with him.
He probably does not want to play with PAO, because the last time he was there he hardly played..........
Panionios is probably his best bet, but maybe he wants to play in the Spanish League because then he could get scouted by other Spanish teams and get a contract more easily.
Or maybe he would just rather play in Bilbao so he would only have to play once a week, instead of twice a week in Panionios.
Anyway, Verginis is an underrated player to me. He has potential, being a really big and strong point guard that can create his own shot. He just needs a team to give him a chance. His problem is he just lacks game time, because he has hardly played for so many years.
-
Re: European teams summer signings
Report now in Greece is that Bilbao asked Verginis to stay for Eurocup games, but he got a good offer and a big role from Aris so he decided to take it.
So he should back in Aris again.
-
Re: European teams summer signings
Good for him, I don't think he'd get much playing time with Zisis and L

Re: European teams summer signings
Verginis to Aris is official now.

Re: European teams summer signings
Katsikaris is nuts.............
Pappas is just destroying Greek League right now...............dude is on another level from all other European players his age.

In Katsikaris we trust :lol
5-1 so far, beating two EL teams.
Next one, Real Madrid!

Like I said, you have a real nice team. However, Pappas is better than anyone on the team.

Re: European teams summer signings
Look at the stats:
http://www.esake.gr/main/index.php?pl=15&lng=en&pfpar=dGVhbWlkPTA=#start_statistics
He's 2nd in points per game to Gagaloudis (one of the best Greek guards for years) and he's first in ranking.
And he's not doing it on a small, bad club. Panionios is a very deep team and is loaded with very good players throughout the roster. Putting those kinds of numbers on a team with so many good players is just unbelievable.
If you watch the games, he is getting a lot of dunks. He's also running the offense well and pretty much setting the tempo and dictating the pace of the game.
They switched him to PG from SG, where he has been playing the last few years, and it seems like his game just exploded when they did that.

I'm sure he's playing great, just saying it's only been a few games.

Re: European teams summer signings
The great Panionios loaded with great players just got their asses kicked by a middling Belgian team. Matt Lojeski and Wes Wilkinson tore them up together with 41 points and 14 rebounds. :lol

Like I said, I don't know what the hell Katsikaris was thinking.........
Unfortunately, by doing what he did to Pappas, he delayed his development by about 2 years. Anyway, Pappas is the best player in Europe at his age that I have seen in recent times.......

You are a ****ing idiot. A ****ING IDIOT.
First of all, I said it was a great roster of talent, and for their budget.
Secondly, you REALLY PROVE you NEVER EVER watch any European basketball EVER and that you are once again just a a damn troll and a dumb ass.
Panionios does have a damn good roster based on talent and with time they will be a very good team. Their roster for a young team is comparably much better IMHO than teams like Lietuvos Rytas and Partizan (the one so many people drooled over for "talent").
I never said anything either about them advancing past their group, although they still could do so. It's a young team and they are focusing on the Greek league obviously.
But you are an idiot.
Ashton Gibbs
Mark Payne
Nikos Pappas
Landon Milbourne
Vlantimir Giankovits
George Bogris
Vassilis Kavvadas
Ioannis Athinaiou
That is a lot of talented young players that just need some time, but not too much to make a really nice team. Maybe even by the middle of this season. You are a moron if you can't see how many good young players they have.
Even guys like Agravanis, Toliopoulos, and Mostenigos are good young players, but they are years away from being ready.
The facts are that,
1. Panionios is a very young team.
2. They are in a hard group by Eurocup standards.
3. They went through 2 coaching changes.
4. They had injury problems that killed them so far......
Dikoudis and Nadfedji could not join the team yet because of injury problems. Those were supposed to be the only veteran players along with Batis and Booker to help balance out all the young players. But they got injuries and could not join the team yet.
Kavvadas got injured and missed basically the season so far. He was their best player last year in the Greek playoffs.
All in all, you are a ****ing idiot that does not know when to STFU.
Hell, with Pappas alone it is like half a team of even the best Eurocup teams. If they just had for example Dikoudis, they probably would have already qualified.
