Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
I love Kiefer as Snake. I don't get why Hayter was ever picked for Big Boss in the first place.
I'm not as far in as you, been busy with school and homework, but I love it so far. Tapes are very interesting. Story is great so far. Missions are fun. No complaints.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
I've been trying to find time to play Ground Zeroes but can't seem to fit it in. Do I have to play it or just go straight to PP?
-
Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
it only took me an hour to get through the first time. keep trying. if you're having a lot of trouble with that, you're gonna be in for a bad time in phantom.
do whatever you want though. no point in missing out because you haven't played ground zeroes. you can just watch a quick playthrough on youtube.

Nah it's just an extended demo to help players get to grips with the game just jump right into PP.
I've just done mission 11 and a whole load of side missions. So far I have quite a bit added to motherbase and around 1.5 mill left to spend.
Yes I've done nothing but play this game since it came out :facepalm

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
I've been playing this for over 20 hours now and I it just doesn't feel right. Doesn't flow. Too clunky. It's half trying to be one thing, and half trying to be another. It has no identity. It's essentially a cluster****. The pieces are there but they.... they just don't fit. 8.5/10
Solid game, but not worth the hype.

If you think this but played it for 20 hours you need a job or a new hobby or just to stop lying. Once you say "im 20 hours in" saying you don't like it sounds stupid.

I haven't played the game, but if your complaining about every damn thing then rating it an 8.5/10... well that's just proves you're a jackass troll.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
The game has really hit it's stride. Just done mission 15 and the enemies are now adapting to my playing style. Helmets, flashlights and Night vision are kitted out on most guards which means I'm going to have to have some of my guys take out the supply train.
I also have a dog which is invaluable! Locates not just enemies but also plants and other animals.
This is shaping up to be the best stealth game to date.
-
Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Make sure you do this if you're interested in the story:
- do the side ops where you rescue former motherbase soldiers
- develop medical platform
- After building the medical platform, go there and climb up towards the top, you will see a blue door that will open for you. Walk through that door and straight ahead there will be another door with a button to push
Just do it. It will blow your ****ing mind.

Uhm, I might just get this game then.
This sounds pretty bad ass.
I was worried that the game will be too repetitive but it sounds anything but. I love the idea of having to really think in a game and this game seems to do that while giving your complete freedom.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
i seem to be going slower with this game than most. i'm something like 13 hours in and i'm only on mission 8. some have already beat it from what i've seen on reddit and other sites. wtf? what's the fun in doing a speed run of a game like this?
btw, if any of you have ground zeroes, make sure to do the hideo mission and upload your save data to phantom.
he carries over as an a++ r&d guy. very helpful. also, you get the sneaking suit for free for even having the game.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Just expanded my base -- Mother zoo in place. I can't wait to fully customize the weapons. About to get flooded of an avg. of Grade B men. Loving it.
DD needs to grow up already.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Wow, this is incredibly disappointing. Massive ending spoilers, beware. Just posting source for proof.
http://kotaku.com/one-of-metal-gear-solid-vs-most-important-story-scenes-1728467641
I didn't read it, but apparently, a story arch, a whole area, several cutscenes and the final level/boss were cut. This isn't something that might have been a cool section, it's the ending...
/* actually they just were unfinished, but the game should have been delayed if THE LAST LEVEL WASN'T DONE.
What now? They revealed it themselves in the fvcking Blu Ray that comes with the CE, so it probably means they have no plans to insert it through a patch or DLC (dealing with Konami here), especially with Kojima gone.
I guess those comments from reviewers saying the ending didn't feel very complete are explained now. And from what I've heard, this cut ending was much better than the original.
What a shitty decision. I would have waited another few months if it meant the game would actually have its proper ending.

It only get's repetitive when you're doing the side ops as many of them are the same but in different locations. However that's really nitpicking as some of the side missions actually feel like story mode gameplay and as you progress through the game you have to adapt. I'm currently taking down Air Radar systems so my helicopter can come in and provide me with air support as I'm dealing with a huge number of soldiers. (Probably 3 times the amount that I had 5/6 missions ago).

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Missions 11 and 12 were incredible. Probably the high point of the game so far.
Just got to Africa last night.

I said I was having a hard time finding time to play, not that it was hard. It was actually pretty easy on normal, though it did take me a couple of hours to get through it all stealth.
I might pick PP up this weekend.

Very easy game

I seriously need to go on a recruitment drive . I have 2nd floors on all my mother base stations and only about 45% staff. Is there any other better way than just extracting people via the Fulton?

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Finished chapter 1. It's kind of horse shit that you have to replay some old missions in chapter 2. I don't mind playing them, it just ruins the pacing is all.
Still one of the best games I've ever played. Can't wait to see how this whole thing wraps up.

As in missions you've already done in the Phantom Pain. I've heard many people saying this is the one thing that's been an odd inclusion into the game.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Pretty disappointed to learn there's hardly any boss battles in this game.
Like isn't that the backbone to the series?
Those EPIC boss battles.
That girl Quiet looks like a porno star in the game.

There's only like 5 though, no?
I don't want to spoil it for people but my friend said there are only 5.
He beat the game already and said the first boss battle was WICKED.
There was another boss battle that you could literally just skip by leaving in your heli. :facepalm
He is a HUGE fan of the series and he also loves Uncharted; and he said it's the best MGS solid and on par with his favorite game (Uncharted 2).
So yeah, I'm pretty much convinced I'll be getting it.

There aren't that many, but the ones that are there are very good. I'm actually not a huge fan of boss battles (most games **** it up), but I've really enjoyed the bosses in this game.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
I'm on Mission 14, and there's no boss battles yet. Kind of disappointing.
Also, I'm starting to see where the "repetitive" complaints are coming from. Infiltrate the area, extract this dude, destroy this thing. I'm still not bored though, gameplay is so good. Hopefully the story picks up soon, and WHERE THE FVCK ARE THE CUTSCENES!?
I never thought I'd have to ask Kojima for more cutscenes, but damn, I want, no, need more of them.
-
Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Just got the game and dropped a couple hours in it last night, finished the Prologue and the first mission. I was a pro at saving the first dude.
This screams Snake Eater to me so far, and i love it. Snake Eater is easily one of my favorite games ever.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Still stuck in Afghan. ashjdksladaskjhd that Huey mission was a pain.
-
Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
Gameplay wise I really enjoyed it, but after Chapter 1 it started to become very repetitive having to replay earlier missions and the story feels disjointed and incomplete from then on. There's parts of it that are REALLY good (like the later parts inside Mother Base) but it feels like there was quite a bit cut out at the end after Konami told them they had to release it NOW after spending a reported $80 million on the game. FOB seem like an unnecessary add-on in order to force micro-transactions into the game too.
Hopefully MGO is OK since I think the game will be very enjoyable in a PvP environment.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
I think this game proves that maybe Kojima needs a lot more work or at least needs to learn a lot more when it comes to open world? After playing it for a while, I've come to realize that everything is the same, from the outpost to the rhythm/routine of the game (?). One think I liked is that when they noticed the jeep they were expecting to arrive never did arrive because I took it out on its way to the base I was heading to. It would've been great if you attack one of their outposts and they send out a warning ASAP to the closest outpost/base & have them ready -- this mechanic should potentially force you to pass up on attacking an outpost or at least have you thinking twice before you attack, because for me I always wipe out an outpost to get more resources or a valuable soldier. & these soldiers don't seem to think they're at war, I never see convoys, soldiers marching down the road, any usual war stuff.
I like the stealth system, but I swear, Kojima needs to stop making them blind. It's so clear that I'm wearing a green camo on a sandy scenery and Snake's caucasian ass face & they still couldn't figure out who's snooping around the sand/grass. I do have my moment of happiness though when I pull off epic chains of moves, but when you're right close to the guy & he doesn't realize it's a person lying on the ground, that's when it trips me out. Different case if he had the camo from MGS4.
Normal soldiers aren't threats.
Yeah, it is repetitive, but I'll finish this for the story. Kojima, come back and do another game. :(
