she will next year and this year out.
Her teammates aren't that trash. I haven't watched every minute of every game, but I check up on it enough. In their right positions, they have a little squad. Their front line is good (but young.) Boston, their C is learning how to play even better, and their PF, Smith, is another rebounder/finisher type. They gave it to Smith on the break and she double dribbled, though, so she's not ready to do all that.
Then they got this little girl, Kelsey Mitchell, who is like Barbosa or Ivo, just nasty and fast. She is a dog, too. She blocked someone to secure a win recently. She's like 5'9. But she crosses so well. GOBB was talking about Arike being a walking bucket, but this girl is saucy as hell, too. They have enough to get it right, I think. People do need to make their shots, but so does Caitlin. They are doing really well considering how badly they started. Like I told GOBB, she's gonna get 20 pts 10 assist average and that's GOAT level in WNBA imo. Even with 5 turnovers, if it comes to that.
It's kinda like wow at some of the weirdo shit they do sometimes, but it's not bad. The whole team is throwing good passes. It's worth watching for awhile. Better than NO basketball.
Edit: also gonna be funny if team USA gets dogged tonight.

The first player in WNBA history to record 50+ points and 25+ assists in a single two-game stretch.
Caitlin Clark is a PROBLEM

This isn't like MJ. It's like Wilt. She is about to set the bar for a lot of stats.
I kinda wish she wasn't white so people would understand how next level her game is. She's just getting started, too.
Her team fits her, too. I was reading them talk about Smith and how they need to trade her cuz she was a volume scorer, but I think she'd done great off cuts and Caitlin can make all sorts of passes. Smith / Boston / Mitchell. That's plenty. They can build around that easy. I wouldn't dump Smith unless you got something really good back.
Next year, they will probably be contending.
Edit: once you see Smith and Boston being physical and protecting Clark, you will know it's over. That's definitely the perfect front line for her.

Everyone already knows this, you aren't saying something that hasn't been said.
And they also think she's only popular because she's white. It's definitely not her play. Couldn't be, lol.

And because she's not a dyke.
This is why the WNBA is not a serious league. They all scratch and claw and talk shit about each other as if they were on some Housewives show. It's embarrassing that they want us to embrace this league and they want to force us to watch it and pretend like it's on par with the NBA.

i've never seen much 'cat fighting' outside clark and candice wiggins. you're making that shit up because you hate women. the league is, and has been respectable for a while now. ionescu never got this amount of hate. neither will paige bueckers. and they're both white, openly christian heterosexual woman.

There’s also a lawsuit going on right now against the league cause of some player that got pregnant. Too much drama. You don’t see this in the Men’s league.
And I love women. But my love for women does not mean I have to follow and cheer for the WNBA as I do the NBA.

excellent point. i expect no rebuttal from haterz/racists. they will ignore ionescu.
the wnba has long gone unrecognized and the players have not been paid well historically speaking. it's not until the last couple of years, preceeding CC's arrival, that they have been on an upswing and growing their fanbase. then CC arrives and the media treats her like a savior that has put the league on a national, maybe even global stage, but the truth is the league was gainging popularity and momentum before she arrived. did she help? absolutely, but to say she is solely responsible for the growth is ignorant and is dimissive of the other players efforts. essentially she's receiving all the credit.
F it, i'll say it.

Nah, honestly, I think people have racism / sexism / bigotry backwards in a lot of cases. They hate her cuz she is doing shit they can't dream of and getting love they didn't know was possible. THEN they are like AND SHE'S WHITE FUHHH. It's just an extra variable that makes them shit. In 1 year, everyone will have accepted her. They are just in shock. I dunno why anyone talked shit, though. It goes to show either they are super blinded by jealousy or they don't really understand bball.
Saying 'reality is coming' makes sense, because it was gonna be different, but anyone who thought Caitlin wasn't gonna shine was nuts. She is throwing passes that I dunno if I've ever seen. Girls have trash hands in comparison to men (anyone ever played catch w/ a girl?? haha) and she is throwing shit that just falls into their hands perfectly. If you watch the trajectory of some of the passes, they seem to actually bend or fall softer than you'd think. She is redefining the game and that's why people are seething.
Like I said, tho, people are about to accept her soon. I know how it is! Everyone hates me for the first year, too haha.

Can anyone explain who do people care so much about this female basketball player? Shes great for a woman playing basketball, but come on. I tried watching some highlights from her but I was bored quickly. I just don't get it.

She is so much better it’s surprising. Considering shes 22 and revolutionizing the game, it’s historic. She is likely gonna be doing crazier stuff soon.
I like bball and it’s good to have more to watch.
You have to watch a game, especially now. Watch her vs a good team and see how well they are all playing around her.
The highlights don’t do her justice. Most people just think she jacks 3s. She’s out there leading her team as a rookie.

Nonsense. Nothing but nonsense. The league was not gaining popularity or momentum. Of course you will probably lie about this, but there is no way you know how many WNBA teams there are and the fact that they don't even play an 82-game schedule. No one knows that shit. Have you ever seen a full WNBA game? It's unwatchable. It's brick after brick and turnover after turnover.
The only thing that had made the WNBA watchable is Caitlyn Clark's arrival. She has the notoriety and the NBA moves. She shoots from the logo and swishes it. And frankly, the drama between her and the other NBA players that are hating her is actually helping people watch more often. So it all comes back to Caitlyn Clark one way or the other.
Ionescu was Kobe's female protégé and all these years later and she's the 2nd or 3rd best player on her team. So even with all the Kobe hype behind her, she still is not drawing the attention that Caitlyn Clark is getting.

i didn't know pre-CC nor do I know currently. i don't think I'll ever know on my own accord.
What I do know is that unless you've been living under a rock the past 3 years, the WNBA has been in the spotlight more and more. IDK if it's coordinated efforts from the NBA primarily, but the media and NBA players have been promoting the hell out of it. When Mikal was still in Phoenix, he'd regularly post pics on his social media of himself attending Mercury games. And the Sabrina vs Curry shooutout didn't just happen out of thin air, it's because more WNBA fans are appearing. CC is helping her league for sure, and maybe even expediting the process on her own, but the league was on an upward trend before she arrived, to say otherwise just reflects how poorly you are tuned into basketball in general. I haven't watched a single WNBA game in full length, and I have never gone out of my way to watch their games or highlights yet it was getting constantly shoved in my face on social media and forums before Caitlin.

She's already maybe the most advanced lead guard in women's bball history, and she's still polishing her game. The game is leveling up for women.
She's arguably better than Derrick Rose ever was...
She's definitely better than Derrick Rose ever was relative to the competition. She's on the trajectory for GOAT status, Rose was never even remotely close to that. Still tho, dude was an MVP, but PeroAntic is a fgt.

But shes only good for a woman. Even if shes twice as good as every other woman, that still makes her half as good as any top male basketball player. And thats what I see in her highlights. Sure shes better than the other players but no way that is going to make me watch female basketball.

not even half lol. even if she could shoot like curry, her lack of comparable athleticism and coordination would not make her even ride a bench in the g-league. she would get swatted on every shot attempt, every pass attempt would become a steal. she's an infinitesimal fraction of the talent of an NBA player.

thanks captain obvious
Her 'special' skillset does change the whole game and make it more interesting, but it's also pretty damn funny that all of these girls have been pretending they could ball for their whole life and some girl out of college is beasting them and telling them to stop crying. Even if you think women's bball sucks, you should enjoy watching her ride on people.
Yeah, it's funny when she passes it to someone on the break and they throw it off the bottom of the backboard or straight up double dribble, but it's whatever. I know some people might think this is crazy, but for whatever reason, I chose to watch a decent amount of her games. Not all of the games, but enough to figure out what was gonna happen, so maybe like 20-30 min, unless it was close enough to be interesting. I swear her teammates are actually better at basketball now, too. As I think I posted here, they are starting to make much better passes and move better. It's like they are realizing new shit.
In the end, you gotta be able to enjoy Caitlin doing her thing and then also be able to chuckle at some of the hard fails. I dunno, I don't wanna seem sexist, but girls are not boys. I know they wanna be when they are playing sports, but they're not, and in a way it's kind of endearing, even if they are dykes with face tattoos, to watch them nub themselves out in a girl-fail video way.
Overall, she has just energized her team and they are playing good ball. It's crazy watching her / their growth. I think I will stop watching when I feel it's leveled out.
Summer is a hard time for me without bball, so I welcome SOMETHING. I'm not really feeling classic games at this point in my life.

Ya'll can deny it all you want, but the WNBA is on the map because of one person: Caitlyn Clark

Cat I believe looks a hell of a like Larry Bird ... her passes are typically unexpected , and she rolls to the hoop when openings occur.
When she think she is open , green light for her jumper.
I will tell u all ,when she retires , if she doesn't have a family first , she will be the greatest of all time in womans bball.
Fever are going in atm.

This is what it always comes down to for me as well. Even if we concede that she's the GOAT female player, she's still a weak, skinny, sub 6ft unathletic white girl. If you went to a decent local pickup game, you would see 10 guys better than her.
Saying "best female player in the world" is like saying "tallest dwarf". Factually accurate but who gives a shit?

She's revolutionizing the game. That's good.
I tried to watch women's bball (as I said earlier,) even back as far as when they had the men's ball. It was awful! They are going to be able to find a way to make women's bball better now.
The way the Fever offense is flowing is actually enjoyable to watch. YOU SHOULD TRY TO WATCH A GAME. More shit I said in this thread. It's funny when they **** up something easy, but if you compare it to what it was, it's getting better.
I don't understand this whole... comparing men to women thing haha. That is more like who gives a shit, to me.

They're still women though. They still cant dunk, have no handles, almost no post up game, slow unathletic below the rim play. If you took basically everything that makes basketball great and a spectacle to watch away, that's women's basketball.
No sport on earth ruthlessly exposes the athletic shortcomings of women more than basketball and that will never change.
They're still women though. They still cant dunk, have no handles, almost no post up game, slow unathletic below the rim play. If you took basically everything that makes basketball great and a specticle to watch away, that's women's basketball.

I dunno, football would be worse. Caitlin has handles tbh. So does the other girl on her team, Mitchell. Their second best player is a post up player. It's just different cuz it's women, but it's the same idea. She is able to post up and score on someone like Brittney(sp?) Griner.
They do jump like 5 inches off the ground haha, but like you said it's women. It's women... playing basketball.
-Smak
Even though she is great, still doubt the league will ever turn a profit.
I watched the olympic tournament a bit and the only players I liked were Gabby Williams, Ionescu and A Ja Wilson. While they all still played under the rim their game at least had some resemblence of male's basketball. Williams drove a lot and has a good pull up midrange game. Wilson is good from the high post and Ionescu plays some good off ball cuts and curls.
Williams definately was the closest to a real basketball amongst those 3.
Seeing how Clark, who plays the same way, but with higher range and better passing gets treated by the dyke league I can see why Williams decided to go back to europe.
Watching those games. I'm sure even the US would lose against a fairly skilled pick up team. Some of these women have the skill level of 11 year old boys.
Watching women's tennis, handball or skiing for example I'm baffled how much the women suck. Belgium is reigning european champ and they have players shooting twohanded from the chest like a pass.
