I can personally attest to this. When I lived in Miami, I had a Cuban lady that lived next door to us. Nice lady too. She was close to my grandma's age and they would talk every now and then. So one day, I'm in my backyard just throwing a baseball around and I hear this goat coming from her backyard. And I proceeded to look through the bushes into her backyard, and sure enough there was this goat tied up to a chain in her backyard. I told my grandma about it and she told me that the lady practices Santeria. Didn't know what that was. She explained to me that some Cubans practice that shit and that's why she didn't want to go to her house as often once she found out, but yeah, the goat was just used to kill and then the body was discarded. Maybe she gave it to someone to eat afterwards, but within Cuban culture, some of us look down on people who practice that.

The Cuban culture is definitely more refined and more educated than the Haitian culture, so God knows what actually takes place in one of those voodoo rituals.

50% of the country is single right now. I doubt political differences plays a big factor in such a huge percentage of single people out there. I think the problem nowadays is the inability for people to sacrifice and accept differences and compromise. Everyone is on an empowerment trip and I think that alienates a lot of people. None of my previous relationships have failed due to political differences.
