I have no idea what the nets are doing.
Traore at 19 is decent I guess he has high upside potential steal of the draft :applause:
Still annoyed over the denim pick :facepalm
Steal! :lol
i have no idea who this center is for phoenix but i'm sure he's garbage as is tradition for suns lottery picks
Tony Jones: League source to @TheAthletic on acquiring Clayton: We like his toughness, his shooting. We love his speed and character….. 5 mins ago – via Twitter Tjonesonthenba
Another gobert pick so he has a lot to live up to
This draft looks quite strong. I have a feeling it could be one of those great draft years.
A lot of centers

Minny winning. Collier best piece thus far

Funny to see Ace Bailey's plan blow up. Utah wasn't one of his preferred destinations.
I am not the only one trippin about the nets picks

Knowing nothing about Ace Bailey or the advice he's been given I'm going to spitball a theory: He just didn't want to be drafted by a bad team. Or at least, he was hoping to join the best team possible. Pro sports are one of the few jobs where the employee has no control over where he lives, who he works for and works with. Not that they get any sympathy but if you think about it and you're like, "I'll still be a millionaire either way" you might just want to engineer your own fall in the draft in the hopes that you join a playoff team. Maybe he doesn't want to be a franchise savior. And even if you're an elite talent, who would you rather be, Kobe joining Shaq and the Lakers or T-Mac going to Toronto whose only teammate I can remember came into the league after he did?
Of course if you play for a year of major college basketball teams will have a huge file on you anyway and a GM like Danny Ainge will be willing to draft you sight unseen. The best way to control draft destination is still just to go full villain and tell teams that you don't want to play for them. 40 mil is a lot of money to pay someone that doesn't want to be there.
You got it backwards. He wanted to come to DC because he would get all the touches he could handle. We are the only team he worked out for.
But ainge dgaf

Yeah but what teams are not bad in the lottery? Typically it’s where most bad teams pick. lol
Dallas
SA
Philly
Charlotte
Utah
Washington
NO
BKN
Toronto
Phx
Portland
Chicago
Atlanta
Dallas and Philly were playoff caliber teams smacked by injury. Cooper was going to Dallas. So a good team would’ve been Philly. Maybe Atlanta? But that’s a late lottery pick. I don’t see many promising situations either as far as “not bad but best team possible”. He probably shouldn't have bothered addressing where he wants to go and why. And I blame his agent/handlers more than an 18yr. Now you’re not only fighting what every rookie does (prove yourself) but unlike them? You have to now fight the public perception (valid or not) about you. You’ll always have to answer to predraft stuff even if stuff said isn’t accurate. I hope he’s mentally tough and matures to handle that. It’ll be exhausting. But I just don’t see a team in the lottery that fit what he wanted to do (based on your theory)

Edit: not disagreeing just asking a question.

I think their own fans are tripping. On a nets forum they had a poll where they all wanted Noa Essengue at 8. They picked 4 guards with their 5 first round picks and two foreigners. I’m pretty sure Net fans are calling for the firing of the GM.

Eli Manning, John Elway, Kobe etc controlled where they went as rookies and the general public still remembers them as heroes because they won. Meanwhile they're was a guy that went to Phoenix that the Celtics wanted to look at, he did something that had people mad at the time regarding his workout with them, Celtics go on a different direction and 8 years into his career I don't remember his name anymore (Somerhing Jackson?) because he didn't ball. You can say that it adds to the pressure but it doesn't matter much, pro athletes already have a certain amount of pressure. It just creates an arena where they'll get booed harder on away games but they were still going to get booed.

Get the best players you can and make deals to make a good team when you figure out who you want to keep, who you want to move, what the players are worth to you, etc. Nets don't need to rush its not like they are playing for the championship next year.

Uhhh....last year lol. Sarr refused to work out for Atlanta because he wanted to come to DC.
The ainges give a ****. Thats why they drafted the best player
That was my point. They didn't care about what Ace wanted. They didn't care about his agent's shenanigans.
Uhhh....last year lol. Sarr refused to work out for Atlanta because he wanted to come to DC.
Go figure. Wizards always seemed to me like a team players would prefer to avoid.
The ainges give a ****. Thats why they drafted the best player
It’s really the best motto when drafting top lottery. Granted I’ve seen the weaknesses of Ace that does raise concerns. The fact Danny picked him without caring about the noise (that swayed me surprisingly + weaknesses). He might be laughing in 3 years lol
Go figure. Wizards always seemed to me like a team players would prefer to avoid.
New management now. Will Dawkins worked under Presti for years.
How pathetic is the time limit for this draft? First it started 15mins late and now this. After sixers pick im out.
Wolves draft center. Trolls have a new fave. Reid, garza and Zikarsky :facepalm
Hornets had a solid draft overall
I don't then he'll turn out as good as he's scouted. There will be one or two players who will be better.
Disagree with you on Coop. I don’t know if you watch college ball like that but there wasn’t a single game Duke played, including against Auburn and Houston, where he wasn’t just clearly the best player on the court. And not in an overwhelming talent way but the little things too.
Of course there might be one or two who end up better but what’s the choice there? Flaggs absolute floor is a very strong contributor on a championship level team. There is absolutely no bust factor barring injuries of course.
Ceiling is tough to call but given his rate of improvement during the college season? Could be one of the better players in the league without question.
Youngest person to be drafted #1 since Lebron too. He’s very very good.

I
Hopefully he can average more than 5ppg against OKC
Cant quit me!
Ace Baylee = loser
I never got mad at a guy that tried to control where he was drafted. Even his that rejected the Celtics. Lonzo Ball flat out told Ainge to stay away. I can respect that and have nothing against him and never did.
Who jas a better eye for talent presti or manny?

The photos and social media videos of Ace Bailey agent are hilarious. Looks like a 90’s drug dealer. That and the negative coverage this kid gets is wild. Some will say deserving. I disagree. A lot was made out when he didn’t meet Utah with the other rookie. However come to find out he meets with Utah today and the same energy isn’t given for folks jumping the gun. His agent, handlers whomever need to start getting ahead of the negative news like that. Soon as that stuff drops you counter. Even tho the team Utah did. Ijs that’s what Ace hired his agent for no?
Vj Edgecombe is personality and dog mentality will win fans over where if he is just a fringe all star caliber player when it’s all said and done? Folks won’t be that up in arms. Bonding with the city, videos of him working out, news of his character (used Nil money for scholarships in Bahamas). That’ll win fans that hate the pick over. It was a safe pick and he will always be measured up what Ace does.

Presti
The fact okc tried getting him should give Nets fans a little happiness lol but the draft grades collectively im seeing range from D to C+ yikes
Prior to the draft I saw this poll on the RealGM Philly board:

Small sample size. More fans wanted Ace than VJ. And I say that from conversations in public, sports radio, social media.
“Don’t overthink this!”
“We are loaded with guards!”
“VJ can’t shoot, tired of those players”
Not going to lie, I empathize with this Ace Bailey kid. I can imagine Utah is a terrible city to live in for marketing purposes, lifestyle, it's also full of racist funny looking people. But his management is not guiding him smartly. If he didn't want to get drafted by Utah they could have told him to sabotage his workout and interview. That would have been his best path forward.

Quite an imagination. Id say where ace comes from is much more racist. With social media you can be marketed in any city. Depends on what kind of lifestyle you want i guess. Gobert still has his home here. I believe favors still lives here and hes also from the racist south. Also some of the most beautiful women here. But this is ish. Lets talk about thngs we have no clue about
