Re: 2014-2015 regular season!
Williams had to fly to Utah to officially sign his 10-day contract, and then he had to take a flight to Chicago to meet up with his new team.
Had to fly for the physically more likely. Hard to believe they couldn't do all that in Chicago in today's day and age.
In a Wednesday whirlwind, the 6-foot-5 guard got a crash course in the Jazz system and then made his Utah debut.
In just 1:45 of action, Williams, sporting a No. 25 jersey, scored five points, including an off-the-backboard 3-pointer on his first shot.
Quite the welcome back to the NBA.
Jazz coach Quin Snyder likes Williams
Utah head coach Quin Snyder certainly has his team
The Bulls (25-11) went 3-2 on a five-game homestand. They are 11-7 at home this season and have come out flat against teams with losing records a few times.
So the Jazz beating them wasn't so much a surprise. This is the team to beat? :confusedshrug:
"You're always concerned," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I don't want to overreact, but I don't want to underreact, either."
With outside temperatures dropping below zero, the United Center was colder than usual
Re: 2014-2015 regular season!
"Pretty much every game we do it, but not 48 minutes," said Gobert, who finished the night with 11 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots as the Jazz held the Bulls to a season low in points.
A lot easier when you play 36 of the 48 though.
The Bulls (25-11) are the playoff team with legitimate title hopes, known for a tenacious and suffocating defense. On Wednesday night, with Favors and Gobert playing together, the Jazz improved to 13-23 by taking a page out of that playbook, holding Chicago to 28 of 84 shooting.
"Rudy was a monster defensively for us," said Gordon Hayward, who had 18 points, five assists and four rebounds to start the team
Re: 2014-2015 regular season!
Thanks to the fearsome frontcourt pairing of fill-in starter Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors, the Jazz were a big reason why Chicago had such a tough night.
He played pretty well last year.
Bulls play-by-play man Chuck Swirsky came away impressed.
"Watching Jazz-Pacers and Rudy Gobert has star written all over him," he posted on Twitter. "This kid has a terrific upside."
As soon as they leash him.
Derrick Favors went 20-10 for the third straight game. Another accomplishment. His jumper is so good right now from straight away and from the baseline. He is beginning to have spots on the floor where he knows how to knock down a shot. That is what the great players do.
Could we quit calling these guys stars and great until they really prove it?
Then he is terrific rolling down the middle of the lane on the pick and roll. I talked about this early in the season but I love Favors playing between the 45
Trevor Booker got a text about his wild tip shot from the Lakers' Jordan Hill after the game. The cousins practiced shots like that as kids.
Didn't know they were cousins.
What player do the Utah Jazz miss the most?
1. Alec Burks
2. Enes Kanter
3. Rodney Hood
Probably Burks because of their issues on the wing and at guard.
All over the NBA there are several teams dealing with the loss of key players. Oklahoma City has spent time without Kevin Durant; Cleveland misses LeBron James every time he can
