Makes a bit more sense. Marshall's contract wasn't guaranteed until today. Pleiss had another 500,000 at least due next year. Thus the cash. With only 4 picks next year and hopefully stashed Wallace they potentially have 5 guys going for at most a couple of spots next year.
Netting George Hill for a late lottery pick addressed the Jazz's biggest need at the point, and takes pressure off the recovering Dante Exum.
Neto and Mack were two o their best players. :facepalm
Boris Diaw was hobbled down the stretch last season, and getting him for essentially nothing should pay off if Utah can keep him motivated and full of espresso.
We'll see if it's nothing. Hanlan looked good. The fact that the Spurs wanted him says a lot.
Johnson faded down the stretch for the Heat in the playoffs, with his three-point shooting particularly vanishing in the second round. Will JJ stay consistent
All told, the move puts Utah at $12 million under the cap, which is enough to make another move if it chooses, such as renegotiating the contract of Derrick Favors in order to get to the cap floor.
10 mill under was enough to make a move too no? they have to be under the cap to renegotaiate? Maybe for Hill?
Bolomboy, an athletic power forward out of Weber State, has impressed the Jazz with his work ethic, demeanor and play during summer league and is now expected to make the opening night roster
He already made it. They aren't giving him all that money to cut him. He's their 5th big and could possibly move up to 3rd or even 2nd when Favors goes.
Utah envisions Bolomboy replacing some of the energy and athleticism the team lost when Trevor Booker left for the Brooklyn Nets in free agency this summer
I see him as the local draw at Stars games to start. If there is an injury he will play ahead of Withey.

Got to carry a vet big. Joel is a prospect and is too thin. thanks CJ :applause:
Withey's production last season was unexpected on some levels by the organization.
sure it was as was Pleiss being so slow
Should he make the team, the remainder of his contract would be guaranteed in January. But there is little doubt that his shot-blocking and defense last season were welcomed by the Jazz
there's plenty of doubt. They missed the playoffs because they didn't play him. :facepalm
More than anything, the trade was made to make room on the Jazz roster for Bolomboy
It was made because Pleiss had to go because he isn't good enough. Joel already made the team. Plies and/or Withey were gone already.
It also provides extra cap space that could come into play as the Jazz look to extend Derrick Favors and/or George Hill
doesn't sound like it makes much sense for either to do so. They got something else going on
