Re: Ten Most Important Names in Hip-Hop History?
Not at all.
KRS-One
Grandmaster Flash
Rakim
Grand Wizzard Theodore
RUN DMC
Russell Simmons
Kool Herc (yeah him too)
Afrika Bambaataa
2Pac
Rock Steady Crew (Crazy Legs)
*Special shout out to James Brown
I can respect that.
groups = people?
:oldlol: no Rakim? The most influential MC of all time?
I've arrived at the conclusion Lkizzle is a poor man's Rasheed1's opinion in these type of threads. Kid is off his rocker.

I feel your list but most of them are pioneers. Kool Herc and Theodore, no one has Joe Fulks or Bob Davies in a top ten NBA list. Now Bambaataa and Flash yeah.
I didn't know what to put, I was gonna put artist, but Russ Simmons isn't an artist ...
Still no KRS to be found... Dunn101 (or whatever that cats name was?) is that you?
The dude who only post here like once a year these days about music? LOL, that is straight up LKizzle here in this thread.
I am so dissapoint.

My man, Herc influenced people to put break beats in their song.
You said important names.
Check him out:

And Wizzard Theodore is credited with creating "scratching" you gotta put him on there. I think Grandmaster Flash is the most important DJ so he has to be on there as well.
DJ's don't get enough respect in hip-hop imo.
Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
OP has yet to acknowledge KRS ... surefire /thread from the start. No real head will argue KRS or Rakim GOAT, but they will damn sho mention them in the 'importance' ... 'influetial' ... 'significance' dept.
Yet... OP did none of the above. Yikes. Rap muisic opinion stock value drops mega i-LL points.
Damn.
:facepalm
Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
KRS 1 and Rakim and Kane are all important to this hip hop world, I never said they were not. If we add those names adKool Herc, who drops out? NWA, Will Smith, queen Latifah, Diddy?
Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
People fail to acknowledge the b-boys much..Rock Steady Crew has taken break dancing (and with it hip-hop) global.

Diddy is influential but in the grand scheme of hip-hop is he important? Where is he really without the Biggie?
Will Smith and Queen Latifah are big names as well and I can't knock you for choosing them I just think that the people who were blessed to be there first and actually create styles and conventions are most important.

You mean where would Big be without Diddy right? Diddy already made a name for himself with Uptown Records. And I feel you on the creators but if we go that rout the top ten would be included with names all before 1984 right?
Re: Ten Most Important Names in Hip-Hop History?
No order ...
-Russell Simmons
-Run-DMC
-NWA (Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E)
-The Fresh Prince/Will Smith
-Queen Latifah
-Tupac Shakur
-Puff Daddy
-Master P
-Jay-Z
-James Brown and George Clinton
Anyone agree?
Wow... just wow. I understand if some may not consider Eminem a GOAT MC but to leave him off a top 10 most important list is insane! Even guys like Rakim have spoken about the impact he's had on the game. The bridge he's created for whites to find hip hop. He's BY FAR the most IMPORTANT rapper of all time if you talk about the impact he had on the game and how he changed perception and the fanbase. Only close rapper is Tupac. Can't believe you have Master P, P Diddy Queen Latifah on the list etc. What a joke.
Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
DJ Kool Herc
Beastie Boys
RUN-DMC
2pac
NAS
Biggie
the roots
NWA
RAKIM
Eminem
..there's too many to list
MUCH more respectable list  . Top 10 is always debatable but at least half of your list is undisputed. Can't believe a list had Latifah, Master P in the place of greats like NAS, Eminem, KRS and Rakim.

+1
Diddy could have made someone else into biggie.
Also, raekwon should get a hon mention for launching the don style biggie and others copied, which dominated the scene for a while.

I agree with Raekwon deserving a mention but saying Diddy could of make someone else Biggie is complete BULLSH**! You guys got it twisted. BIG made Puff, not the other way around. He really put Bad Boys on the map.

Was before he was signed dude. He's got God given talent and is a GOAT level rapper and you want to give the credit to Puff when Biggie was ripping people up in his teens? It's sad and makes me wonder if you get all of your information from MTV.
