Re: For a Star Wars newbie, start with Phantom Menace or A New Hope?
New ones are garbage. Don't watch them. Will ruin a good thing. Just stick to the originals which are classics.

Episode 3 was such a huge letdown. Episodes 1 and 2 sucked, but at least they didn't ruin everything.
Vader is supposed to be the ultimate badass. He's supposed to be the guy that killed all the Jedi, but actually, stormtroopers did most of the job. Anakin just took care of some children in the Jedi temple. Ridiculous. He didn't have a single memorable battle. He didn't fight Yoda, Mace Windu or another Jedi Master. Well, he did fight Obi-Wan but he lost. Wow, is this the same guy the whole galaxy is afraid of in the later episodes ? :confusedshrug: He didn't do shit. The whole "Order 66" scene was great, but it was beyond retarded. It ruined everything.
And Anakin's fall to the dark side was way too quick.

View the original trilogy first (4,5,6), then watch Revenge of the Sith. That's all you need to know.

1-3 weren't that bad. People just being hipsters

Order 66 and Darth Maul were the only good parts of the prequels.
Hayden Christiansen is actually a good actor, but his lines in the prequels were some of the worst movie lines ever written and he flopped hard delivering them.
It's a shame, because if someone who could write wrote these movies, he was capable of putting on an epic performance.
Anakin and Obi-Wan had no chemistry. That is my big problem with these movies. We're constantly told how they're BFFs, they are always saying they're besties, but all we ever see is them bickering and arguing and fighting and complaining about eachother behind the others back.
It would have been better if episode II was a bro adventure with Anakin and Obi-Wan looking like an inseperable perfect team the entire time, doing awesome acts of heroism, and then Episode III Anakin turns and it is all the more tragic for it.
From the beginning Anakin was acting like a petulant resentful bitch so it was hard to gain any sympathy for him.
Who is the hero of these prequels? I don't even know. Anakin does nothing but whine and commit acts of evil, Obi Wan hardly does anything until the fight in Revenge of the Sith.
