Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
Kidd and Kirk are both up there, even as senior citizens.
Among the younger crowd I'd have to go with Holiday, based on what I've seen. He plays smothering man to man defense, much like Sasha Vujacec, with the difference being that he is actually effective.
Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
It's really tough to say.
But CP3 can't be too far from the top.

Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
lebron james
seriously... nobody can defend pointguards better than him (WADE is excellent at it to)... and even offensively nobody can produce like him when he plays pointguard (not even assists)... take a look at his cavs days especially that month he started PG for 11 games straight and averaged 29-8-12
lebron = pointguard stuck in a forwards body
John Wall will be on that list in a couple of seasons...So much potencial in him defensivly.
Yeah, plus he seems to want to be the best defender at his position, which goes a long way. Jrue Holiday could be about as good, too, actually.
I'm going with Lowry and Rondo followed by Felton as far as starters. Kidd deserves an honorable mention since he's an ok defender on point guards but great against wings, especially shooting guards.
Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
Chris Paul. He's a pest for opposing guards.
Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
It's between Kyle Lowry and Jrue Holiday

He has a point, Lebron abused Rose when he guarded him in the playoffs. I don't think any PG in the league could have come close to having that effect on the MVP.
Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
Chauncey billups
Rondo
Kidd
Cp3
Duhon
Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
Rondo
Holiday
CP3
Those are my 3 top picks.
Re: Best Defensive Point Guard in the NBA?
Is CP3 actually a good defender? I will be honest, I haven't seen him play much as I didn't watch the hornets all that much. I know he gets a lot of steals, but that should not be the basis for calling someone a good defender.
Does he do a good job at containing opposing pointguards, with his man to man defense?

He is. He is somewhat limited by his body but he plays about as good defense you can ask from him. He does not play Gary Payton style of defense but pretty much no point guards do that today. A lot of his steals are on ball and he is a pesky ball hawk. He is also a smart team defender and will come with the timely doubles and can play the passing lanes.
