congrats, must have been amazing when you heard about it
but on a serious note.
the ishuminati works in mysterious ways, and lets just say the random stranger may have been slightly coerced into helping you out.

Congrats Myth, good luck with the surgery, recovery, etc
So after this transplant, you will be fully healthy?
Awesome, great news OP.
Congrats man, even though we do not know each other, as a fellow ishiot and a human being, I truly wish you the very best for you!
Solidape
How much is this going to cost?
Congrats, my friend.
I just switched over to Medicare, so hopefully only $100 per month. Otherwise, I might as well bring a brief case with stacks of bills in it.

There are a number of complications that can arise and I will be on anti-rejection medications that lower my immune system making me vulnerable to other illnesses. Good chance I will become diabetic and get skin cancer, in addition to other possible outcomes. Plus the medications, like Prednisone, have their own shitty side-effects. But all of that is better than the alternative.
:applause:

Congrats man. I'm genuinely happy for you.
Fantastic! So happy for you!
Sending all positive thoughts your way for smooth sailing through the surgery and recovery.
To receive the call that you're getting a second chance at life, then to find out it's from an incredibly generous person willing to be a live donor...just awesome.
A great time to remind all to give the gift of life. Become an organ and tissue donor today! http://donatelife.net/

I can tell you from experience that, for many recipients, the medications are fairly easily tolerated. Maintaining generally good health post-transplant (diet, exercise, taking meds on strict schedule, etc) make a huge difference. And you can protect against skin cancer just like anyone else; you'll just be at higher risk if you don't.
As for the bolded, truer words were never spoken.
Awesome news!
