Re: Hey Libs, explain to me your argument that there's voter suppression
This is an interesting point. Do Black people not buy guns? Not buy alcohol? Not open up bank accounts? Not drive? As far as I know, you need an ID for all of those things.
The most reliable voters? Meaning the older ones? Relative to the Republican base I’m sure they don’t. How many old black women you see in the gun shop, liquor store, or using a bank account not opened 30 years ago?
The people making these decisions are not stupid. They wouldn’t make any that limits their voters more than the opponents.
Right or left....you pass election laws to help you win. Period. It’s what politicians should be expected to do. A democratic base being more hurt by Republican election laws is exactly what anyone with a brain should expect of politicians from either side.
Re: Hey Libs, explain to me your argument that there's voter suppression
Oh please, there are old people of every color that I'm sure are stuck at home. An old White person in a nursing home or in a wheelchair isn't at any less a disadvantage from obtaining an ID than a Black grandma is Mississippi somewhere.
Why can't you agree on this? If you want to vote, you have to have ID. Period. People have 4 years to vote between Presidential elections. That's 1,460 days to obtain a valid ID.
You started with the excuse that it was hard to get ID and I stopped reading right there. I can only read so much nonsense in one day.
I started with this ", but I would say doing something like limiting the number of mail-in-ballots boxes and limiting number of voting sites would be considered voter suppression tactics." Good try though.

Re: Hey Libs, explain to me your argument that there's voter suppression
White conservatives hate minorities and want to ruin America.

Old white people are considerably less likely to not have the means and everyone in politics know it. A 2019 study showed 83 and 90% of old blacks and Latinos compared to 53% of whites are short on retirement. The poverty level isn’t even close nor is the rate of intact families. The reasons can be whatever you wanna call them but the fact remains....old white people....are way less likely to be poor loners than old black people.
Not to mention....the old white people in nursing homes are far more likely to be in a quality home that actually maintains the paperwork of its people and not the slum ones that just keep them alive without doing the kind of outings and activities that may require ID.
In the end it’s about money. A decently well off old black couple I’m sure has ID. But fact is a lot more old minorities are decently well off. Just the way it is. And everyone writing laws know it.
You write election laws to put your side at advantage. Left does it. Right does it. All of this shit. Closing polling places in disproportionately black areas to lengthen lines then give people a year in jail for handing out supplies to make standing in line easier....and you’re in here acting like the people making such laws gave no thought to who loses votes....
Stop with the bullshit. Both sides are trying to win. Your side needs less black votes. These are ways to make that happen. You don’t see me acting like democrats don’t obviously want to limit the damage done by white males to their cause.
Republicans need blacks kept from voting or discouraged. Democrats need white men kept from voting or discouraged. Or at least have their impact minimized in both cases. Go look at congressional districts for ****s sake. Red states draw whole districts around black people so they don’t risk losing more. Give one away to ensure 3 or 4. Democrat states do it with right leaning areas. Or split them into tiny corners of 3 neighboring leftist districts so the rich whites don’t have enough in any one to cost democrats the seat.
Both sides have been rigging elections using race against the other side for generations....but both sides wanna act like it’s only the other guys.
Republicans ARE trying to keep black votes down and democrats ARE trying to keep white male numbers down...at least where possible. Georgia republicans want black votes suppressed just like Florida democrats want Miami Cubans votes suppressed. Politicians know who they need to keep from voting.....and the laws and policies in place are a weapon in that fight.
Both would be stupid not to use them. It’s how you win.
Just own it.
Re: Hey Libs, explain to me your argument that there's voter suppression
Did anyone really read kblaze's verbose posts? I skimmed through them very quickly, mainly because he's a manipulative MSNBC'er and a lazy and ignorant democrat. Clearly, he doesn't read the laws/bills himself. He's a partisan POS that has all the MSNBC and CNN talking points and then writes them in the longest way possible without actually knowing shiit.
All I see is "ID" "ID" "ID". "My grandma doesn't drive". But does he even know that the Georgia voting ID law doesn't even require an ID? Basically any form of ID is acceptable, you don't even need a driver's license. If you don't have a passport or the other various forms of government ID, you can use your social security #. Your grandma forgot her SS#? She can use just about anything that is sent to her via postal mail that has her name and address.

He's trying to convince us that there is a massive amount of the population that is unable to get ID. Mind you, someone who just crosses the border can get ID at anytime without little obstruction. But for some reason, a majority of Black voters are having a hard time getting ID, and it's a Republican conspiracy to make it harder for them to vote.
The only thing Republicans are trying to do is making sure that when you vote, whether it's for a Republican or a Democrat, that you only vote once. Period.

If anything, I think voting laws should be a lot more strict. And even if they go towards that path, they won't be nearly as strict as mandatory vaccines and vaccine passports that the democrats/communists heavily favor.
But let's PRETEND the Georgia voting law really does only accept a driver's license and other government ID's...kblaze wrote a handful of essays in this thread talking out of his ass, that's a lot of time spent; he could of used that time to help his Grandma get an ID if he really cared about "voter suppression".
