I didn't turn on Lebron until the 2011 Finals - I was watching it with my sister, and it occurred to me that Lebron doesn't know what to do out of the pre-dribble, stationary position (triple-threat position) - he needed to start a live dribble to feel comfortable.. I told this to my sister as I shook my head... It was the first realization that his skillset had major holes.

In hindsight, we can look back to the 2006 2nd Round against Detroit to see how the bar was lowered for Lebron... He was lauded for averaging 26 on 45% or something like that - aka worse than MJ ever played.

That was the first lowering of the bar for Lebron... Then he was lauded for being the only player to average 6 TO's and 35% FG in a series (07' Finals) - the worst chucking and ball control that the game has ever seen... Then he repeated this performance in the 08' ECSF and this bed-wetting was the only reason the Cavs didn't upset the 08' Celtics.. Then the goat meltdown in 2010 and 2011... Record loss in 2014... lottery in 2019 and catastrophic losses every year from 21' through 25'.

And it's all skillset-based.. His skillset can't win organically because his skillset can't develop teammates or great chemistry, aka turns everyone into spot-up shooter - this stalls young players, thereby needing ready-made stars to win (can't win organically)... This is STATISTICAL FACT because he increases everyone's assisted rate (spot-up role), which craters their assists and creates low assist teams over time - it's entirely suboptimal, which is why he underachieves roster talent, aka he craters from preseason favorite to underdog or loser every year from 11' to 16', except the Allen miracle..

Yep, nothing about LeBron's game has changed in 15 years, he's made zero improvements since 2011.

His body has changed - he went from bird legs/calves to tree trunks, which will make a player's game look different, even though it isn't - aka Lebron has been the primary ballhandler for every team that he was ever on, until Luka arrived and took over the primary ballhandling duties.. Lebron's bigger body meant that he played a little more bully-ball (a non-skill aspect of basketball), while his weaknesses have remained constant for 23 years, aka FT's, midrange, turnovers, offensive rebounding, bad fits/teammate craterings for 23 seasons (including the imposition of spot-up roles/reducing everyone's assists), and weak "bag", among other weaknesses (long-standing weaknesses).. 19 years into the league, Lebron had the worst fit of all-time with Westbrook, which created the biggest underachievement ever (missing the play-in with one of the preseason favorites).

btw, the bird calves to tree trunks doesn't happen naturally... His trainer (David Alexander) and best friend (Randy Mims) were witnessed by the FBI on numerous occasions purchasing testosterone and metabolism booster from Biogenesis (the biggest supplier of PED's to athletes ever).. Lebron never "started winning" because he's always mostly lost. He never produced a dynasty, 3-peat or 70 wins regardless of who we put around him, aka objectively inferior to MJ

The bar was lowered? Nah more like the bar was raised. You always try to compare Lebron as if he came into the league the same way Mj or any other great did. He didn't come into a great situation, with great players/teams already in place. He didn't get great players added early in his career, he also didn't get high draft picks several years in a row until his teams were competitive.

For example Mj? He was a lotto pick himself then in subsequent seasons the bulls picked 11th

Big difference right? Well now go take a look at guys like Magic and Bird, or Kareem. Drafted onto teams with great players or acquired great players early on, drafted top 3 picks within the1st couple of seasons, or added former.Mvps and finals MVPs to already good rosters. A guy like Duncan who's team finessed the system to add a generational player to a contender. Kobe drafted to a team with a player who generally ranks higher than him all time, and a steady flow of solid pieces added around them and later himself. Lebron wasnt gifted these types of situations coming in. Mjs wasnt as drastic as some other greats but still far better picks for team building up to a contender. Lebron did great for his situation for sure.if you want a crazy idea of what coulda been go see who was picked and still on the board if LeBron would have had the same picks Mj got early on. History shows that the all-star duo of Lebron/Zydrunas got a player that was better than 1990 Pippen before entering their first playoffs in 06' (see previous post)...
