That's actually not a bad college team. National title favorites Rubio didn't have a great year in Europe though.

Euroleague scrubs and even players that cannot even play at the Euroleague level are going in the NBA lottery and are being coveted and drooled over by the NBA for several years now. The talent standard of the NBA has become incredibly low.
He has a point. Not sure why we haven't learned yet after all the Euro failures.

It would be comical to see an NCAA all star team even try to come within 30.
10/9/4 on 43%
I would be incredibly happy with that.
Here are the players that have accomplished that stat line in the last 20 years:
Magic Johnson
Tim Hardaway
Rod Strickland (3x)
Mugsy Bogues
Jason Kidd
Andre Miller
Chris Paul (4x)
Steve Nash
Deron Williams
Rajon Rondo (2x)
Thats not a shabby group in which to be included
Euroleague is an idiot but Navarro is pretty good player. He's close to 6'4", decent passer, excellent perimeter shooter and has a deadly floater. Definite NBA player, not a starter but a great guy to have off the bench.
Not a starter..........................you really cling to this NBA basketball bs.
Rubio will be a starter in the NBA and he is not half as good as Navarro, and never will be either.

Nikola Vucevic. What you know about him?
Nikola Vucevic. What you know about him?
Did you watch any USC games the past few years? Pretty good player.
Legit 7 footer, great touch, and perimeter shot...very offensively polished.
The downside is he's painfully slow, can't jump to save his life, and is very unathletic in general. Despite this, he's not a terrible defender and pretty good shot blocker.
He measured out with a 7'5" wingspan in the combine and apparently has been killing it in workouts.
Probably has potential to be a better version of Rasho Nesterovic with more range.
I'd rather have him on the Sixers than Tristan Thompson or Markieff Morris.

Altho Rasho has been the butt of many jokes. I wouldnt be against this guy to pair with Spencer Hawes. Shows how desperate the Sixers need for a big is.
I really havent watched many USC games. Pac 10 conference games come on tv for me but usually too late. I'll try to watch then fall asleep or totally forget a game is even on. Last time I watched USC more than a handful of times was when OJ Mayo was there. I've read about his measurements and he's has some size and length to him. But tested terrible athletically. And you hinted he is painfully slow. But he's intriguing, checked out some highlights of his and he wasnt bad. Highlights are just that and really didnt see much in terms of his weaknesses. I wouldnt be mad if the Sixers picked him at 16.
I like Markieff Morris tho. Philly bias. Like the toughness.
Sports is entertainment and with Rubio around next year, the NBA became a little more entertaining.
Still laughing @ Navarro. Dude is barely six foot tall, can't pass the ball without turning it over and is a volume shooter at a 40% clip. That's awful. And we all knew before he came that this short midget chucker was not NBA material. Stay in the Euroleague brah, with all the other unathletic white boys and NBA rejects.
like jasicabiges or w/e haha. That guy was a hilarious chucker.
He has a point. Not sure why we haven't learned yet after all the Euro failures.
because there are about as many failures that come from europe as from college
One of the biggest bust in NBA history.
One of the biggest bust in NBA history.
Seriously?
1.) One would have to play in the NBA for a number of years before he can be judged a bust or not.
2.) Biggest in history? I'm sorry but for a #5 pick, at 19 or 20 or whatever, to be called the biggest bust ever is ludicrious when you have higher picked players that have done dog-shit in the league.
Run along now, son.

Basically, meant to say he will be one of the biggest bust. I'll make sure to bookmark this thread. I know how guys on here are. I've had to bump two heat threads so far and the same clowns that argued against me about the heat are nowhere to be found.

Who else other than Rubio? some people acted like he was the next Stockton back when he was drafted. Rubio also acted like a premadonna by not wanting to play for the TWolves, and a select number of teams if i remember right.
I don't remember too many Euro players other than Darko that came out with all this hype. I still don't get how a back PG in Euroleague can be so hyped up by some NBA fans/team.

Most of the European players drafted by the NBA are not even considered good players in Europe. FYI.

potential
if derrick favors had played in barcelona instead of georgia tech, he would have been a backup. the standard in europe is much higher in europe than the ncaa.
Because the NBA is actually about 1/3 as good as people in the USA think it is.
 You are a delusional NBA hater. In fact, I'm pretty sure you are only saying that Rubio is a scrub so if he does indeed have success here, you can point out that one of the Euroleague worst players is a big time player in our garbage league. Nobody here cares or believes you.

yup. its exactly what he is doing.
dude is going to "win" in his mind no matter what.
If Rubio sucks, he'll troll the board with Rubio hate and tell us how we were all wrong (when pretty much nobody is hyping him)
If the dude shows he has game, NoLinkYo will tell us all how awful the NBA is and how Euro teams have passed it by.
He has planned his hate perfectly.

he has a point tho given the way some NBA fans have hyped Rubio, and still hype him. I'm still puzzled by a backup euroleague PG being so hyped, especially given his pathetic stats. I've never seen a NBA player that was good that put up awful stats, ever.
I don't really want to take a side here but it seems to me the NBA fans that think Rubio is worth all the hype or defending him don't have much to stand on, other than i guess his play in the Olympics? Where at least Euroleague the poster has been pretty consistent in saying he's overrated/sux. Correct me where i'm wrong :confusedshrug:

where is the hype?
the only times I ever see anything about Rubio are when Lakas brings him up to hate on him and when TWolves fans make a post wondering if the dude will ever come over.

he has court vision, passing, and handles that you cant teach. he has plenty of holes in his game. his future is based around 'potential' . the same potential that leads to a dwight howard or a darko milicic.
personally i think he'll get around 8 9 2, with good defense in time, but never a great jumpshot, hopefully eventually a good stand still shooter, similar to current j kidd
where is the hype?

Exactly, outside of T-Wolves fans, most NBA fans have never understood the hype surrounding Ricky Rubio.
Well i guess i'm thinking from the time he was drafted since he had a lot of hype then, but now not so much. But still it seems like people iin the NBA in/around it make a big deal about him, even still.
Its like he's getting respect equivalent to a top 3 lottery pick, where its almost assumed he's going to be a starter and big key to the TWolves. Most 5-10 lottery picks don't even get that type of pre NBA clout.

The Euroleague always has scrub players in it that were starters or 6th men on NBA playoff teams. Many NBA rotation players absolutely suck in Euroleague. Did you not actually know this?

The US media hype on Rubio is relentless and constant.
US sports media (ESPN, Yahoo Sports, Sports Illustrated, Slam Magazine, Fox Sports) constantly call him "the best player in the Euroleague", "the best player on the best team in Europe" and other BS like that.
Draftexpress.com and NBADraft.net lied about him for YEARS before finally coming clean on him...........
NBA GMs regularly call him things like "special", "once in a lifetime player", "once in a generation player", "best point guard in history of Europe", "best Euroleague player of all time", "best player in Europe".............etc.
When he absolutely sucks in Euroleague.
It is clear that the NBA is just using him as a marketing tool to the Latin market and plans on creating another fake and totally manufactured "star" out of him.
He will probably shoot more free throws a game than Wade does, and be allowed to hand check on defense - and all the while, this "NBA star" would still be a POS player if he was being reffed normally.

So what, there have been Euroleague MVPs and top players that have sucked in the NBA. It doesn't mean a thing.
My opinion on this matter is that Rubio will be a great player in the NBA with All-Star appearances but not Best PG in the NBA Material. He has the potential to be the best passer in the NBA with a solid jumpshot and if he can develop a driving game where he can draw fouls at will then we can be looking at Top 5 PG potential. He has proven to play better against NBA players than he does against euros so I have no doubt that he will excel that the NBA level. My prediction for his prime is 17/14/3/3.

If he ends up averaging 14 assists, along with 17 points and 3 steals a game, how in the hell would he not be "the best point guard in the NBA material"?

Alright, I could see that, but if Rubio plays at that level and Love continues to excel, I don't see how they wouldn't at least compete for a playoff spot.

Everything in bold is BS. Its like you don't even watch or read basketball coverage from the US. Its not even hard to find made up crap with you. You just flat out make stuff up.
YOu want to know who has talked the most about RR on ESPN? Colin Cowherd who is constantly trashing the guy. Other than that, you RARELY hear about him. Infact, today was teh first time I have seen anyone outside of CC on ESPN mention Rubio since midway through the regular season and even then it was just Jon Barry making a snide remark about him never coming over.
Good god you are such weak sauce.

"best passer in the NBA"
http://www.euroleague.net/main/statistics/individual/average?topic=Season_E2010&category=Assists
12th in the Euroleague in assists with 3 small forwards ahead of him in the stats.
"solid jump shot"
32% from the field and 22% from 3 point range in the Euroleague.........
"He has proven to play better against NBA players than he does against euros"
Funny, he sucked against USA in 2008 Olympics. He sucked against USA in the 2010 friendly game and it was because of his bad play that Spain lost the game.
He sucked against the Lakers when Barca played them. He almost caused Barca to lose. They won despite him. He was the worst player they had in that game.
What in the world are you basing these predictions on?
I totally agree with the bold part but do you have any proof of the media or GMs calling him the best player in the Euroleague? 2+ Please.
They have been saying that for the last 4 years.
