Man was that terrible acting... Watched one too many old movies.
I think the thing to to think about here is that he wasn't always like that. I am more interested in all that led up to it... seems like a spoiled kid who couldn't get what he wanted though and just lost it. He couldn't figure out how to get it and blamed everyone else for what is in the end his issue. People can be ruthless though for sure... but one must take responsibility for sucking or having poor reactions to unrealistic expectations. 5'9 135 trying to get shallow sorority girls was his first problem. There is a formula on how to snag those girls and it's really not that hard to pull off.
What a shame though... this guy just needed someone to listen to him non judgmentally and help him steer himself onto a different path. A lot of lives could have been saved.
It bothers me that people make jokes about serious incidents like this one.. Sh*t is so real and Internet jokers think everything is funny..
Its not funny.. people use this incident to come on here and try out their little comedy act?? f*ck you
people got killed and that is f*cked up..
Oh, get a life and stop telling people what to find funny you ****ing clown.
This guy is completely hilarious. Narcissism personified. He should be laughed at and ridiculed. This was a desperate and pathetic plea to be taken seriously, and i don't think i'll oblige him thanks, even if it 'bothers' you.
Particularly liked the '...it's not FAIR!!wahaha..' part and the 'i'm gonna show girls how wrong they were to reject/ignore me by killing dem blup blup..my retribution.'
Shit is hilarious.
Yes, aspergers is the first thing that came to mind, too, and I believe I read somewhere that he was diagnosed with the disorder at a young age. I don't mean this to make it sound like people with autism/aspergers are prone to violence, because most are not and Rodger likely had some other issues going on.
But, he is displaying all the signs of a high functioning AS sufferer. Socially awkward, feels completely unattached from society, complete failure to communicate his thoughts/desires to peers, an odd manner of speech and delivery, and most importantly, a total failure to identify their peers' true emotions.
There are ways of treating AS so that it doesn't reach a point of peril, but clearly this guy either wasn't being treated, wasn't being treated correctly, or was so far gone that there was nothing to be done.
Pretty sad, all the way around. :(
Btw, I seriously doubt that having sex or even attaining his ultimate goal of having a girlfriend would have solved his issues. That was just his misguided target for his inability to relate to society.
Yes, but plenty of people can't relate to society, to its conventions and practices, most of which i personally find thoroughly moronic, though i can observe them if need be. Many people reject society; doesn't mean they go on shooting sprees, or are as balls to the wall delusional as this guy. His sense of detachment, distorted perception of reality, extreme narcissism, and complete lack of moral compunction are sure signs of sociopathy. He was a psycho.
edit: i mean
His ravings included a lengthy passage about putting women in concentration camps and starving all of them to death, with him watching the spectacle with glee from a tall tower.
'"If I can't have them, no one can," I’d imagine thinking to myself as I oversee this,’ he wrote.
Rodger believed he was a ‘powerful God' and was convinced that once he dumped a bag of his victims' severed heads in the street, everyone will fear him.

:biggums: You think this situation is funny, but call me a "clown"??
I dont understand the immature attitude of people like you … You find murder "hilarious"??
Its not about the killer.. Its about the victims and the people who loved them..
seriously, consider all the lives this guy destroyed… Each person had family and friends who won't ever see these people again.. If I lost a family member or a good friend over some senseless BS, I'd be devastated..
that is terrible.. not funny
I don't see anything remotely funny about it..

He also wrote a 150 page manifesto laying out his entire life story year-by-year in the most hilarious manner (anyone feel like trawling through it to find the inevitable gems?).
Had a quick look and found this:
went with mother to the red carpet premiere of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This was my fourth premiere. Going to premieres were always an uplifting experience for me. The movie was quite a disappointment, however, and I much preferred the classic Indiana Jones films. The next day, I told some of my teachers that I went to this premiere, and they were very shocked. I bet I was the first kid at that school who has done such prestigious things
'life unfair'
There was nothing I could really do about my unfair life situation. I felt completely powerless. The only way I could deal with it was to continue to drown all of my troubles with my online games. I played WoW really hard, leveling two new characters to 70. At mother’s house, I sometimes played it for fourteen hours a day. James, Steve, and Mark would always joke that there was never a time that they saw me offline. I was known as the guy who was “always on WoW”. My laptop was getting slower and slower. It wasn’t a very powerful laptop, but it was the only computer I had to play WoW on. This was really frustrating me, because eventually it became so slow that it ruined my gaming experience. I kept pestering my mother and father to get me a faster laptop that was more efficient for gaming.

After three weeks in France doing exciting social things, I returned to my lonely life in the U.S., where I became even more depressed than I was in the beginning of summer, especially after getting a taste of what life was truly like for normal people. I knew I could never live such a pleasurable life, and the knowledge haunted me. I was back to my routine of World of Warcraft. At least the new expansion was coming out soon, and I tried to look forward to that.
and the best one:
One day I found some posts on the internet about teenagers having sex, and I was once again reminded of the life I had been denied. I felt that no girl would ever want to have sex with me… And I developed extreme feelings of envy, hatred, and anger towards anyone who has a sex life. I saw them as the enemy. I felt condemned to live a life of lonely celibacy while other boys were allowed to experience the pleasures of sex, all because girls didn’t want me. I felt inferior and undesirable. This time, however, I couldn’t just stand by and accept such an injustice anymore. I refused to continue hiding away from the world and forgetting about all the insults it dealt to me. I began to have fantasies of becoming very powerful and stopping everyone from having sex. I wanted to take their sex away from them, just like they took it away from me. I saw sex as an evil and barbaric act, all because I was unable to have it. This was the major turning point. My anger made me stronger inside. This was when I formed my ideas that sex should be outlawed. It is the only way to make the world a fair and just place. If I can’t have it, I will destroy it. That’s the conclusion I came to, right then and there. I spent more time studying the world, seeing the world for the horrible, unfair place it is. I then had the revelation that just because I was condemned to suffer a life of loneliness and rejection, doesn’t mean I am insignificant. I have an exceptionally high level of intelligence. I see the world differently than anyone else. Because of all of the injustices I went through and the worldview I developed because of them, I must be destined for greatness. I must be destined to change the world, to shape it into an image that suits me!

At the beginning of the winter break, I decided to quit playing World of Warcraft entirely. On my last day on the game, I had a long, emotional conversation with James where I opened up about all of my troubles. I told him about all my newfound views of the world, and my belief that sex must be abolished. He seemed to be supportive of my stance, and I was glad that he understood me. It was a very memorable day

I just Finished reading the killer on the road by James Elroy, which is also a first person detailed account of a frustrated sexless intelligent egomaniac that becomes a remorseless serial killer.
The parallels between this kids "manifesto" and the book are pretty frightening actually.

Why not? What are you looking to get out of this 'tragedy'? Some kind of profound insight or anything useful whatsoever? Not gonna happen. This is not really any different from the thousands of personal tragedies that happen on a daily basis; it only has a complete joke as the cause, an individual who should be ridiculed and joked about as much as possible. Solemnity does nobody any favours and serves no purpose aside from encouraging more idiots that this is the way to make your mark. I don't get what your point is: are Hitler memes no fun now, or are those ok because he caused the death of 10s of millions rather than just a handful of people? Or do you only care about things you've lived through personally?
Ever wonder why this drastic rise in mass murder attempts is so strongly correlated with the repeated mass media focus on such awful 'tragedies?' Take these people seriously, give them national media attention, and you will spawn more of them. Turning them into a joke might work a bit better than glorifying them in the minds of other psychopaths.

He was spoiled, but his family wasn't that rich actually according to the manifesto. His dad invested all of his money on a movie called Oh My God which was a bust, his dad went into crisis telling they had lost everything except the house.
They did go on vacations often with his dad and stepmother but it was more of a tagging alone thing for him. He said his father was busy all the time and didn't have the time to raise him that much. Even when he was a child (5-10 yrs old) he was a shy dude, no confidence at all in making friends.
Dude had to beg his parents for new laptops when he was a child and they only bought him one once every 3 or 4 years.
His biological mother (Malaysian) from what I've read, was the one who wanted to kick him out of the house at a young age so he could earn some money and not depend on his parents.
Anyway, I'm not sure if his lack of confidence, shy personality and sense of entitlement was developed because his parents gave him everything or was he like that from the beginning, since he has a younger brother who was given the same things but is very outgoing and social. He wanted to kill him as well so as not let him surpassing in the future in terms of getting laid or being popular.

I don't think memes that make fun of death and murder are funny..
Of course people are killed/murdered everyday, but we cannot possibly pay the same attention to all of it..
Hitler memes aren't funny when you consider what he did..
Turning murder into a joke only serves to desensitize people to all of the pain and suffering..

Damn... my opinions only....
- This Kid never fully understood where the lines of Fantasy and Reality ended.
- Like many people ( and so many especially in socal) he tried desperately to portray himself as a fantasy......in order to find happiness ( whatever that may be)
- In his case...he wanted female attention/Love...( what was his relationship with his mother?...did they not have a bond?...did she leave his father and was with another man?)
- He tried so hard to get things he thought in his mind would attract females ...car, nice clothes ( that's what the guys in the movies have) etc...etc....but could never find happiness.
- extreme narcissism ( everyone should feel good about themselves...but not to the extent of killing others for little to no reason) , grandiose sense of self ( some traits sociopathic behavior) ....all allowed him to Kill innocent people rather then change himself.
- His Mother and Father prolly never really bonded with him....he grew up catered to and expected things to come easily too him...when girls rejected him he acted out....much like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum....
except this time he had deadly weapons.
_______________________________________________
on a side note....what I learned from this massacre...
- My original thoughts on Guys driving BMW's were confirmed......weirdo's
- I can never listen to Whitney Houston songs in the same light again ( thanks goes out to Bobby Brown also)
- We all have a responsibility as posters on a world famous forums....I started spreading the word of Alpha and Omega mentality many many years ago all over the web....now some kids have been overcome by it.
Alpha's adapt , overcome and survive to make this place better.....not kill.

it's the state of morale currently in the nation/union
yes, it is just another tragedy that happens daily which results in death.
coke/meth/drug dealers kill people because people overdose on it
drunk drivers kill people because their abitliy to operate a vehicle has been impaired.
it is the reflection of how people feel about others
where as before, people pursued its own happiness, which resulted in "accidental death" of others due to the lack of judgement
now there are people who with the lack of happiness, are intentionally hurting others.
it's just the state of morale currently in the nation/union
Sheed I agree with you. But the Internet is a vehicle for every disaffected loser to come out and display their absolute disregard for morality and decency. I'm plenty liberal when it comes to comedy, but some of the garbage posted in this thread really shows sick minds. Is what it is though. Just have to hope that those with a sense of compassion and empathy outweigh the rest. It isn't even about being self righteous or whatever these nuts will accuse you of. It's just about just having some kind of human code. But so many are desensitized in today's society.
They would be stupid to do this because most all of the recent mass shootings have been anti-gun liberal democrats. This one is no different aside from the fact he used his car and a knife to kill 4 of the 6 people.
What a load of shit. De-bunked and de-bunked again by numerous sources.
1. Nidal Hasan (the Ft. Hood shooter) lived in either Virginia (his state of residence prior to being sent to Ft. Hood) or Texas, neither of which has partisan registration. Therefore the claim that he was a "registered Democrat" is false. I do not know if he voted or how he voted, but I do know that unless he was registered in a state in which he did not reside, that the claim that he is a registered Democrat is FALSE.
2. Since Virginia does not have partisan registration there is also no way to tell whether Seung-Hui Cho was a Democrat, but again because there is no partisan registration in the state we can say that the claim that he is a registered Democrat is FALSE. (Update: A more obvious point is that Cho was a resident alien, not a US citizen, so he was not eligible to vote in the US)
3. The allegation that James Holmes was registered Democrat was based on a Breitbart blogger Joel B. Pollack, who found voter registration records for a DIFFERENT James Holmes who was about the same age. Alex Jones' Infowars and other right-wing websites then dutifully repeated the lie without verifying it. It was later determined that the Colorado Theater Shooter James Holmes was NOT registered to vote, as evidenced by this retraction: {Newly-released information on the suspect's birthdate (which, as indicated in our initial report, was a slight mismatch), combined with new details Breitbart News has obtained about the suspect's likely addresses, together suggest that the suspect may, in fact, not have been registered to vote.}. However, most of right-wing media continued to promote the lie without printing Breitbart sites retraction. The claim that James Holmes was a registered Democrat is FALSE.
4. The claim that Adama Lanza is a registered Democrat has been suggested based not on any evidence that he was registered as one, but on the rather dubious claim that because Connecticut has almost 2 to 1 Democratic registration over Republicans, he was probably a Democrat. (Claim: "Adam Lanza, NewtownConn murderer. Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by about a 2-1 ratio in Connecticut. The odds are therefore that the Lanza family are (sic) Democrats.") This of course is a bogus argument to begin with, but even if we were to make the claim that a mass shooter's political affiliation must be the same as the majority of the people in his area, we can debunk this foolish idea by taking this shoddy analysis down to the local level. Yes, Connecticut voted for Barack Obama, BUT the city of Newtown voted for Mitt Romney. If we look at the results we find that Mitt Romney defeated Barack Obama in Newtown by 7451-6784 votes or 51.7 percent to 47 percent. Republican Senate candidate and Tea Party favorite Linda McMahon carried the city over Democrat Chris Murphy by an even larger margin. Add in the other information we have that Lanza's mother was a "doomsday prepper" and a home schooler in a Republican-leaning city and we can pretty well dispense with the erroneous assumption that Lanza must have been a Democrat (UPDATE: According to at least one media source, Nancy Lanza was a registered Republican. The source does not provide a link, but the author of this article is seeking further confirmation). We can therefore claim that with no evidence to support the claim, the assertion that Lanza was a Democrat is not demonstrated and that in the absence of any evidence it is likely FALSE.
5. Klebold and Harris of course were not old enough to vote and they had no apparent political affiliation. Allegations that they came from families of Democrats or liberal progressives appear to have no sources to substantiate those claims. What little ideology the boys demonstrated owed mostly to an admiration for Timothy McVeigh not Ted Kennedy. Harris' father was a retired Air Force pilot and Eric Harris wanted to join the Marine Corps. The boys lived in Littleton, Colorado a relatively conservative and affluent suburb of Denver. The claim that their parents were Democrats is UNSUBSTANTIATED. Any suggestion that the two boys were Democrats is demonstrably FALSE.
Interestingly, Hedgecock and those on the far right have conveniently overlooked a number of cases where ideology is clearly right-wing. The acts below are instances of right-wing violence that are unequivocally committed by people who are openly hostile to liberalism. While this does not mean these killers are Republicans, it is quite clear that they are RIGHT-WINGERS and that they have far more in common with Mr. Hedgecock, Alex Jones and the other gun-toting conspiracy nuts on the right than with any evils associated with the Democratic Party or liberalism. In addition, to the list below is the obvious case of Timothy McVeigh, who I have not included because his crime was not committed with firearms. It was however, committed by a right-winger and the carnage was on a massive scale.
For example, on July 18, 1984 James Oliver Huberty, who told his wife he hated "children, Mexicans and the United States" opened fire inside the McDonald's Restaurant in San Ysidro, CA using a Browning P-35 Hi-Power 9mm pistol, Winchester 1200 pump-action 12-gauge shotgun, and an Israeli Military Industries 9mm Carbine (Uzi) - all legally acquired. He killed 21 and injured 19 before he was shot dead by police.
On Aug. 10, 1999 White supremacist Buford O. Furrow, Jr., fired 70 rounds with an Uzi-type submachine-gun inside the lobby of the Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills, CA wounding three children, a teenage counselor and an office worker. He then carjacked a woman's Toyota at gunpoint, dumped it behind a motel and murdered US Postal Worker Joseph Santos with a Glock 9mm handgun.
On July 27, 2008 Former U.S. Army private, Jim David Atkinsson, who hated Democrats, liberals, African Americans and homosexuals, using a Remington Model 48 12-gauge shotgun, murdered two people and injured seven others inside the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, TN.
The day after Obama's inauguration, white supremacist Keith Luke went on a killing spree in Brockton, Massachusetts. His goal was to kill as many Jews, blacks and Hispanics as possible. When questioned by investigators, the deranged gunman who had stockpiled hundreds of rounds of ammunition, proclaimed that he was fighting the extinction of the white race. A little over a month later, Donnie Baker, a former Republican campaign volunteer shot seven Chilean immigrants in Florida. Those who knew him said he was obsessed with the fear that illegal immigrants were taking over the country.
In April of 2009, Richard Popalowski, a white supremacist in Pittsburgh, shot and killed three police officers following a domestic disturbance call. He apparently thought that Obama was part of a government conspiracy to seize all guns, and he feared the government would take his guns away.
Later the same month, a Fort Walton Beach Florida man who thought the Obama administration was conspiring against him, shot and murdered two sheriff's deputies.
On May 31, 2009 Dr. George Tiller was murdered in his own church by a right-wing "pro- life" gun man who decided to express his belief in the sanctity of human life by executing a medical doctor.
Eleven days later a right-wing white supremacist and Holocaust denier walked into the National Holocaust Museum and killed an African-American security guard. Two weeks later, three Neo-Nazis were arrested for bombing a diversity office in Scottsdale, Arizona.
On April 20, 2010 a member of the Sovereign Citizen movement was arrested after a failed attempt to take over a Tennessee county courthouse.
Exactly one month later, in West Memphis Arkansas, Sovereign citizens Jerry and Joe Kane murdered two police officers before they themselves were shot and killed in the ensuing shoot out with police.
On July 18, 2010 Byron Williams, an angry unemployed man, was arrested by police after they discovered a car full of weapons and ammunition that he had planned to use to kill progressives. He was on his way to the non-profit Tides Foundation Center, a favorite target of vitriol from Glenn Beck's radio show.
On Jan. 8, 2011 22-year old Jared Lee Loughner killed six people, including a judge and a nine-year old child, and wounded 13 others, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), using a 9mm Glock 19 pistol during a public meeting in a supermarket parking lot near Tuscon, AZ.
On Aug. 5, 2012 Wade Michael Page, a 40-year old white supremacist and U.S. Army veteran murdered six people and wounded four others inside a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, WI with a Springfield XD(M) semi-automatic pistol.

This is pathetic. I wouldn't even file this under the quiet loner category. This kid was just flat out over privileged. He didn't want the attention of just any girl, he wanted a Hollywood 10. Bitching about how unfair life is while simultaneously flying in luxury jetliners and enjoying a life most people never glimpse. Cool.
Just total rich entitlement. Can't have what they want and aren't used to it, so they try and take it away from everyone else.
Excellent post Droid. I would also add that there has been extensive studies recently about the links of far right wing hate groups to numerous killings.
Of course these "Duh, these killers are alll libral" types will ignore all of that.
Any American who hates the US of A is not a right-winger.
White supremecists and all non-moslem anti-semites are radical left-wingers, much like their Nazi inspiration
Anyone who shoots up a church is not a right-winger.
Again, those who hate Jewish people are far left-wing, like their nazi forefathers.
In April of 2009, Richard Popalowski, a white supremacist in Pittsburgh, shot and killed three police officers following a domestic disturbance call. He apparently thought that Obama was part of a government conspiracy to seize all guns, and he feared the government would take his guns away.
Nutcases can't be considered political. They could lean left or right or anywhere all in the space of an hour, they just cray cray.
Later the same month, a Fort Walton Beach Florida man who thought the Obama administration was conspiring against him, shot and murdered two sheriff's deputies.
Nutcase = apolitical
On May 31, 2009 Dr. George Tiller was murdered in his own church by a right-wing "pro- life" gun man who decided to express his belief in the sanctity of human life by executing a medical doctor.
Repeat, anyone who brings violence into a church is not a right-winger
Eleven days later a right-wing white supremacist and Holocaust denier walked into the National Holocaust Museum and killed an African-American security guard. Two weeks later, three Neo-Nazis were arrested for bombing a diversity office in Scottsdale, Arizona.
White supremecists are extreme left-wing...umm hello?? Nazis?
On April 20, 2010 a member of the Sovereign Citizen movement was arrested after a failed attempt to take over a Tennessee county courthouse.
Does not respect the rule of law...hence, anarchist not right-winger
Exactly one month later, in West Memphis Arkansas, Sovereign citizens Jerry and Joe Kane murdered two police officers before they themselves were shot and killed in the ensuing shoot out with police.
Anarchists
On July 18, 2010 Byron Williams, an angry unemployed man, was arrested by police after they discovered a car full of weapons and ammunition that he had planned to use to kill progressives. He was on his way to the non-profit Tides Foundation Center, a favorite target of vitriol from Glenn Beck's radio show.
Nutcase does not a right-winger make
No particular political affiliation, but if he shot at Rep Giffords because he hates Jewish people, then you can bet he is a radical LEFT winger
On Aug. 5, 2012 Wade Michael Page, a 40-year old white supremacist and U.S. Army veteran murdered six people and wounded four others inside a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, WI with a Springfield XD(M) semi-automatic pistol.
White supremecist = Nazi = left-winger
