Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
What kind of nonsense is this ?
I've seen our fan base say that these Raptors are just slightly better than the Philadelphia 76ers of this season (anr might not even be above them in the standings) when they have been losing to teams during half times. Never heard of any second coming of the 90's Bulls.
If there's any sort of hyperbole that's been posted by the fans, it's to the former.
You don't ventured anywhere outside these forums do you :biggums:
Raps fans thinking they all that, nice little wake-up call from GSW today

Except we don't think were all that. This is still a 2nd round team ceiling. Most Rap fans I talk to acknowledge this.
You're just here to post random shit, otherwise you wouldn't have deflected in your first sentence.
Otherwise, let's see these hype posts to the 90's Bulls.

Other NBA related message boards, NBA reddit pages, people I talk to, like I said, venture outside these forums and you will see, I mean there's been post of tonight's game being a finals match-up, that speaks for itself how Raps fans think they are all that :confusedshrug:
Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
I don't know why Casey thinks it's a good idea to give Landry Fields minutes at the expense of James Johnson who is a much better player at the same position. Fields is a massive scrub.

Heavincent was the only one to say that and he's not even a Raptor fan. Look back at this thread, Rap fans were either making small comments about the game or complain about how shitty Ross is and how bad Casey's rotations are. No one predicted a win tonight and I doubt anyone here is surprised that we lost to the top team in the west, especially without Derozan.

Most casual viewers and locals would assume the most out of the Raptors with their current ranking in the East.
But actual fans of the sport? The one who follow the teams in a more serious in-depth manner? We're not stupid. We see this team for what it is. A team that has a long way to go. You want to play dumb and pay attention some blokes caps raging WETHENORTH #SEEUINDAFINALS on a subreddit then well it seems you are the one who needs to pay more attention to the reality of things.

A Brooklyn Nets fan made this thread... so let's leave Raptor fans on ISH out of this.
As for Raptors fans on other boards... Reddit is a casual fan base. Not much of a fan base on Pro Sports Daily.
That leaves Raptors Republic and Real GM. Since I've seen both boards and have similar posters on both boards, I draw that they are very split. I've seen the same fans say the following:
"We are just a slightly better version of the Sixers."
"We have 1 quality win all season"
"Should trade the stars while their value is high, team is going no where"
"Casey can't coach, he's done a terrible job of rotations and is benefiting of the talent"
"Should have tanked"
"We'll lose in the first round again, doesn't matter which seed"
I could go on... That doesn't sound like fans who think this team is all that. Now, are some excited ? Sure, why shouldn't they be ? Should they be miserable ?
But sorry, you will read a lot more negativity out of this fan base than you will positive.
By the way, I live in the GTA and I haven't heard any championship talk and I usually talk to Raptor fans every day. That's enough reason to dismiss anything online.
Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
Warriors had 3 players that scored 20+ points each and another player with a triple double. Gotta be one of the very, very few times that has happened in NBA history.

What's up with this loser's mentality?
Raptors aren't a title contender, but they could make the Finals. Who are these big bad powerhouses in the East that would overwhelm them with sheer talent? Chicago maybe, but Toronto might be able catch lightning in a bottle and make a deep run.
East is so wide open it's ridiculous

Perhaps it's just my better judgment, considering the Raptors have had a poor history (loser mentality originates from ?) and haven't done anything yet for anyone to take seriously. It's still January and anything can happen down the stretch, good or bad.
But you do have a point, the East is wide open. Still, I'm not going to jump the gun. It's just my nature, I guess
Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
Raptors definitely are a title contender. They are doing good even without Derozen.
They have the critical areas necessary for a run. They have a bulldog leader in Lowry, an explosive wing player in Derozen, the X factor in Ross, a solid and usually reliable big in Jonas and a pretty decent bench with Vasquez and Sweet Lou.
I haven't watched much of them this year (Dubs fan here), but they have the critical ability of having playmakers and finishers. I'd say their shooting has been a bit hotter than I'd expect and that may cool down as the season goes on.
I guess a lot of this comes down to their ability to play together as a team when things get tough.
Them + Cavs, Chicago, and Hawks are all basically at the same level to me. I know i know...the Cavs are awful right now but I still consider them one of the best in the East when it comes to playoffs. All it takes is 3 or 4 good weeks in April to build the necessary momentum.
Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
The Raptors have a MASSIVE following on RealGM. Their forum game thread was 116 pages :biggums: And they are ****ing nuts. Like they're absolutely irate because they lost a game to the best team in the league in January.
I knew they had a lot of fans, but my goodness.
A few quotes:
Warriors just became one of my most hated teams, full of punks. Can't believe we didn't give them any hard fouls, would have liked to see the mole head, curry and Iggy all knocked to the court.
Soft team, lay one of them out
It's like a bunch of ClippersFan86's over there
Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
Playing small to match up other team is the most stupid thing ever. It should be advantage, Casey turns it into disadvantage every time.
Re: Warriors vs Raptors game thread 1/2/15 (10:30 ET)
Good work Warriors :applause:
