I think. You can set your lineup anyway you want
The fit v talent issue comes up for me here.
I have interior presence wirh Kareem and Chuck. I have the ultimate point man in CP3. Ideally I now need a great scoring wing with range, who can play D.
But, I'll find him later.
There is one guy left in the draft that I can't pass up on. He is a 3x MVP who in his peak was unanimously considered the best player in the league. Here is a list of his achievements in the 1983 season alone.
- 1st team All NBA
- 1st team All Defense
- Regular season MVP (with a 96% award share!)
- NBA championship, sweeping the Kareem, Magic, Wilkes Lakers in the Finals
- Finals MVP
When you're at the 39th pick in the draft, screw fit. You don't pass on this player.
Of course I speak of Moses Malone.
He can rotate with Kareem at 5, Barkley at 4, or even play alongside both and push Barkley to 3. Barkley's best seasons (90 and 91) were primarily played at SF, particularly on defense. That lineup would absolutely dominate the boards but would need shooting in the back court to stretch the floor.
So for now I'll go with
C- 77 Kareem
PF- 83 Moses
SF- 91 Barkley
PG- 08 CP3
But Chuck / Moses might move to the 2nd unit, depending on who comes later.

Jesus, Manny is an idiot :facepalm
If this draft showed me anything it showed me that :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm
Here in Swift Current Saskatchewan checking in!
I had 2 combos. One had Ewing. Now that he's taken I'm going with this combo:
Chris Webber. Can run the pick and roll with Stockon. Can facilitate along side of Pip and Stockton
Mutombo. Anchors the interior of an elite perimeter D
Stockton
Jordan
Pippen
Webber
Mutombo

What's wrong with my picks?
Steve Nash - top 3 offensive PG ever
Moncrief - GOAT perimeter defender to cover for Nash
KD - peak KD is the greatest scorer ever imo
Robinson - Athletic freak to run pick and roll with Nash who a top 5 defender ever, arguably the GOAT center peakwise if you only look at the regular season
I’m thinking my dray pick might’ve been pretty stupid but I just wanted him pretty badly at pf after ad was off the board. There are some other forward defenders as good however but feel like I could wait for them. this draft has been modern biased so far
Yeah, it's a reach, but you are getting the most versatile PF this league has ever seen besides KG, also provides great leadership.

At least explain or stfu
Most intriguing thing about this draft so far? None of the last three MVPs have been selected.
James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Giannis Antetokoumpo are all still on the board!

But yea, there are also a bunch of great 70's players who are also available.

Now I feel even dumber. Giannis defense is great and interior presence with shaq is comical. Shooting be damned
James Harden.
Like him or hate him, he can hit the 3 and space the floor, he can get inside and draw fouls and he can run the point with the second unit, while CP3 takes a breather.
Slight concerns about his willingness to play off-ball and effort on D, but as with my pick of Moses, when you have an MVP calibre player available, you take him. Harden's efforts on D have improved, and with a reduced offensive load he should be ok. Also, I have three All D players in the lineup already so we should be fine.
C- 77 Kareem
PF- 83 Moses
SF- 91 Barkley
SG- 18 Harden
PG- 08 CP3
Any of Moses, Chuck or Harden could find themselves in the 2nd unit, depending on who comes later
I’m picking best player available with 18 Giannis. Likely the centerpiece of my 2nd unit and a defensive anchor too. Can play vs taller pfs instead of draymond or even with dray the minutes I sit shaq. Will find a sf later.

18 Giannis
16 green
West(will pick later)

You probably mean 19 Giannis.
Good pick. When superstars are available at this point, you take them. The difference between the 5th and 7th-8th best SF all time is no where near as big as the gap between Giannis and the next best available PF or C.

Ah yea this years. It
Okay, since my team now has all the firepower possible and some good defense I'll go with '08 Manu Ginobili. Gives me another shooter with crazy versatility, he can handle and pass the rock, drive and finish inside, & hit the 3. Also possesses leadership and intangibles you can't teach. I will have Manu come off the bench, a role he mastered with the Spurs.
C - '90 Ewing
F - '04 Garnett
F - '13 LeBron
G - '03 McGrady | '08 Ginobili

AussieSteve & NBAGOAT, I worry about your team's overall spacing and shooting.
Edit: 100 bucks Gotter goes with Barry or Havlicek
you took my manu,i had to change my plans again  ,i was hoping i will get is easy .i will take your pg :hammerhead:

i was thinking either of those guys instead of giannis but one problem is their spacing doesnt expand to 3 most likely. I think west can however and dray at least in 16 is quite good. Good thing is sf is a great shooting position among modern guys.

Was thinking of taking a PG this round, but the best PGs available didn't provide the 3 point shooting I was looking for. LeBron loves his 3 point shooters. Also love Manu, he's not the best player available, but I knew there was a chance he would be gone by the time I made my pick in the 6th round.

i had almost the same problem, previous eras players had bad 3 point shooting, i find a good pg with 33% shooting reg ,and 41% the same year in playoffs so how we will determine that :confusedshrug:

You talking about '96 GP? :oldlol:
Keep in mind the NBA had a short 3 point line that year.

You have Ewing, Garnett, LeBron, McGrady so far. Worry about your own spacing.
CP3 can hit the 3. As can Harden. You have to guard both closely out to the three point line. Both obviously can also blow past defenders who come up to them and don't need much space to make plays for others.
91 was also Barkley's jump shooting year as a 76er. He generally made mid range to long 2's if left open.

don't do this :lol
if we go for 1 year peak,i fount another an excellent pick
I also believe PGs are somewhat overrated in these all-time drafts. A point guard's job is to get teammates easy buckets, but everyone here has a starting five that can pretty much create their own shot at an elite level. Having a great defensive PG is a luxury, but I always value frontcourt defense and rim-protection more because you can always provide help if your PG is beaten off the dribble.

Meh, not defending Manny because he is an idiot but I don't think he has had any bad picks...Nash, Moncreif, Durant and Robinson? Those are some nice picks.

lol, McGrady shot 39% from 3 in '03. LeBron shot 41% from 3 in 2013 and by that time improved his jumper tremendously. And we all know Garnett is money from mid-range, hitting 43% from 16-23 feet in 2004. You also forgot Manu who shot 40% from 3 in 2008. My spacing is fine.
Barkley is a prototype PF, and M. Malone is a true center. It's weird seeing them all out of position. Seeing Barkley defend on the perimeter will be comedy.
Can't believe 91 Rodman hasn't been taken

You lose. :oldlol:
I still need an elite shooter from 3, more so than an all-around forward like Rick Barry or John Havlicek to better balance my roster.
I'm going with Drazen Petrovic. As good a shooter as anyone ever.
