Re: RED WAVE Meltdown Thread, 2024-2028
You can completely remove covid from the equation and Trump was still one of the most socialist POTUS we've had. He spent billions bailing out farmers during his admin, they wouldn't have been able to survive without Government help. And that is the general story across the board. The red states receive the most federal aid by far.
It's poor whites that get most gov aid, and it's poor whites who are the most anti-Gov aid.
Who gives a $hit about a few Billion Dollars?.... what was it like $28 Billion for Farmers? was it more? idk.... but that's like chump change compared to how much we give Ukraine on the daily.
We're talking about $Trillions to fight Covid... both Biden & Trump f*cked that up... caused massive inflation

Re: RED WAVE Meltdown Thread, 2024-2028
RRR3 what you would label the heavy taxing of the rich and spreading it to everyone else? If that isn't a form of socialism. What is it then?

Like $28B/year. It's a lot when you are giving it to a small group. They are living on it. For them it is close to socialism (the thing they hate)
The money we are giving to Ukraine (and with covid) is a bit different as it is not actual tax dollars. It's money we just print up.

That could be anything from liberalism to social democracy depending on the degree of taxation. But Trump gave the rich massive tax cuts so how is that even relevant? We were discussing Trump, he loves giving the rich tax breaks.

relevant? You turned this into a semantics debate over what "socialism" means. So here I am trying to figure out your definitions like you wanted. Social democracy is capitalism and socialism mixed. And from what I can see economic liberalism is for limited government interference.
Regardless I can tell that most of the country is defining it like I do.

Most American voters voted for Trump, are you really going to posit that the average American has any idea of what they're talking about politically?

No they definitely don't, but when you are debating in public you have to accept how a word is now used by the public.

No, I don't have to accept how idiots incorrectly use words, that's terrible logic. Might as well call Biden a Marxist if we're just going to let morons define things.

Re: RED WAVE Meltdown Thread, 2024-2028
Actually my example of the farmers bailout, where Trump was continually bailing out farmers year after year with billions in tax money. It isn't far off.
and the bulk of those bailouts go to corporate farming conglomerates

You don't have to accept it but you can look past it for the sake of conversation. When people talk about "free speech" today I already know it is bastardized version relating to internet moderation.
Also the term "socialism" is a pretty broad spectrum of economic philosophies. And I do think that the Government spreading free money around at least arguably falls under the blanket of "socialism". I mean, the average citizen does misuse and abuse the word as just meaning "free stuff" and it's absolutely deeper than that. But that is what the average Trump voter fears, people not having to work and just letting taxes pay for their lives. They use "socialism" to define that and maybe they should use a different word, but at the end of the day what word is used is secondary.

Give it a few years and UBI will become more of a mainstream discussion... and you'll be one of the many defending it.

And you'll be one of many needing it.
Like it or not UBI would be an obvious natural progression in any advanced society. As AI takes over all of our jobs, as robots are the ones serving us food and maintaining our crops, as doctors and lawyers are replaced by computers. As DNA replacement therapy removes all of our cancers and illnesses.
The endgame for all of us is for none of us to have to do anything. That is what we have been working towards like ants since the caveman days. Right now YOU are a slave to money. You have lost sight of that, but you are.
The thing is though, UBI will hardly matter at that point. Money in general will hardly matter. Because it will get to the point where everything we could ever want is basically free. Have a 3D printer print up a Lamborghini if you want at no cost because robots did the labor. None of us will see that day, but it will get here eventually.

of course you would defend UBI... which is straight up communism.
let me simplify what you just said:

Re: RED WAVE Meltdown Thread, 2024-2028
It is communism, yes.
But when AI and automation take all of our jobs away, we will be left with no choice. Simple as that.
It isn't a politics thing, it's a technology thing.
And we will be "happy". But it will be because we are able to spend our days doing whatever the hell we want to. And we will "own" whatever we want.

New Chatgpt voice can already make sales calls and overcome objections over the phone, self driving trucks are just around the corner and will put millions of truckers out of commission, just a matter of time before cpa's are replaced with ai algorithms so besides a few compsci jobs, the other 98% of the population will have nothing to do. We can protest tech advancement I suppose, but then we just set ourselves to get lapped by another country as the global superpower and slowly devolve into being owned by them.
At some point we have to embrace new ideas. We need unprecedented solutions for unprecedented situations.

Ok... what difference does it make if it's political or technology?
It's still hive-mind communist bullshit... and you guys act like this isn't part of an agenda,... it's just technology and evolution finally caught up to us to where we all have to be enslaved by it? Ok yea, sure.
You might as well get a barcode stamped on forehead... I mean why not? You guys had no problem bowing down to Pfizer.
You'll be happy giving your children 6 covid booster shots a year, and owning nothing... it's incredible.
The sad thing is you really think Bill Gates is a legit philanthropist.... How naive can you be to believe that?
Either way it's always been problem/reaction/solution with every crisis.... and it has always been a combination of Government and CORPORATE interests.
They create the problem... we get a piss poor reaction from the public... and we all agree on a solution taking away our freedoms & liberties.
I'm sure we will have robot/employment problem in the future... but if the solution is this fictitious communist utopia that you liberals keep fantasizing about... it's never gonna happen, nor would it ever serve the public's best interest.
And it is a political thing... if the politicians are always providing the solutions.
That's like saying Hurricane Katrina was "weather thing" and not a "political thing"

This post is all over the place :oldlol: This is darting about in like 8 different directions.
Look, eventually AI is going to take your job away from you. And everyone else. It will be a slow process, and some industries will survive longer than others. But at the end of it all? None of us will be able to work. There isn't anything "hive-mind" about it. It's just the way it is.
"Hive-Mind" is being convinced that slaving away your life behind a desk is happiness.

Hopefully, no longer having to spend 50-60 hours a week at work and commuting, you can figure out how to unclog your own sink.
And this is why I've always said America is pseudo small business. Think about industries that actually survive in small business format: hvac, daycare, maid services, landscaping... it's all local services and novelties that corporations have deemed are(for now) too small and not worth getting their hands in. When ai takes all of the finance, accounting, billing etc jobs and we no longer have a society dominated by dual income hh's with no extra energy and free time, landscaping and maid services will slowly die out along with daycare.

At some point you have to recognize that the broke, weed smoking blue haired hippy who makes $40k is in the same class as a finance director with an MBA or a surgeon as far as the elites are concerned. Sure, the surgeon is 'better' than the blue-hair at the micro level, but when shit truly hits the fan neither make the elite owner class and will be beholden to their mercy when the time actually comes unless we actually unite.

Re: RED WAVE Meltdown Thread, 2024-2028
The single greatest example of "hive-mind" is religion.
Believing is something because the masses around you do and literally nothing else.
