Among replies to the tweet, mostly from Jazz fans, this one stuck out: “Kessler. Defense seems to have a comparable ceiling but Kessler’s offensive game will far surpass Rudy’s.”
a generational defender and one of the most impactful offensive players. Good luck with that!
Part of the Kessler story is that he is not burdened by expectations and there’s no reason to heap those on him now. But there’s little doubt that Kessler will be among the league’s top rim protectors for years to come.
plenty of doubt. Let's see how hard he works
Eventually, the big test for Kessler will be the postseason. Will he encounter similar issues in the Western Conference playoffs that plagued Gobert for years? Will he be able to guard on the perimeter against the likes of Steph Curry, Luka Doncic and Ja Morant?
will he get the help Gobert didn't? We've yet to see him guard in space like Gobert could
The Jazz couldn’t go small in the past in part because the team was built around Gobert. Taking your highly-paid centerpiece off the floor in high-stakes moments isn’t a good look. With Kessler on a rookie contract, the Jazz shouldn’t have that problem.
you mean small with a couple 6 footers and a 6'4 PF? :lol
What happens is that the Jazz will all of a sudden just stop moving. They’ll push the ball up the court and then someone will end up with the ball on the wing (usually Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, Malik Beasley) and they will either hold the ball or dribble way too much and for way too long without anything else happening around them.
Clarkson pounding his dribble too long? No!
Suffice to say these consensus picks, while informative on where these prospects rank at the moment, don’t help us out in predicting who the Jazz may actually take. Considering a strength of Utah’s roster going forward is in its bigger forwards and centers (Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt) it’s unlikely the Jazz will load up on more size. The first-round picks will probably be used to add versatility on the wing and ball-handling.
Ainge will take the best players. If he thinks they have more upside than Kessler or Lauri they will be gone. You trade a statue anyone is fodder

The Mavericks have an incredibly high price threshold for teams reaching out about Finney-Smith, rival executives say.

The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly more interested in Fred VanVleet than Mike Conley if they are going to address the point guard position ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline. “Conley to the Clippers, I can tell you that that one is, I think, unlikely to happen because I don’t know if the Clippers are willing to throw in that first-round pick,” ESPN’s Tim MacMahon said during a conversation with Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post podcast (29:15 mark). “If they are for a point guard, I think it’s more likely VanVleet than it is for Conley.”

In terms of a possible trade framework, multiple league sources have told DallasBasketball.com that Malik Beasley is a possible trade target for the Mavs in a deal that sends Finney-Smith to Utah. That’s not to say Beasley would be the only player in a proposed deal, but he is certainly a name to keep an eye on.
