Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
MUCH more respectable list  . Top 10 is always debatable but at least half of your list is undisputed. Can't believe a list had Latifah, Master P in the place of greats like NAS, Eminem, KRS and Rakim.
Dude has 9 MCs and a DJ. Might as well be a top ten MC list. Em should be on the list tho.
Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
All lists not mentioning Too $hort fail

Rick Rueben with Russell Simmons which should be attached to Run DMC, Ice T (NWA), Real Roxanne (Salt N Peppa/MC Lyte), LL, GrandMaster Flash, I would put Jazzy Jeff (who influenced more hip hop dj's than fresh prince/will smith did for anyone in hiphop on here before Fresh Prince, Rakim Allah/Krs-1

Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
Thread should have been deleted at the first mention of Diddy making BIG. Why couldn't he make another BIG? He tried. Shyne. It worked out horribly. Since then, his artists have failed time and time again. Diddy ate off BIG and that's the end of that.:facepalm
Truth. Exactly dude. BIG made Diddy, not the other way around. If there was no BIG Bad Boy wouldn't of risen to the level it was in the 90's and early 00's PERIOD.

exactly... puff was already known for other groups and was a rising star with Uptown before he ever met Biggie...
Mary J was huge when she came out and biggie used small spots with her to heard initially
Re: Ten Most Important People in Hip-Hop History?
You guys are missing the point. Diddy had a career, sure, but Biggie turned him into THAT guy. Talents like BIG would have been heard regardless of anything. If Diddy passed him, someoned else would have jumped on it quick. It's like you think Eminem would have been nothing without Dre. If someone stumbles upon bag full of cash, it's not like they had anything to do with it being there. They just take it and run with it and thank god every chance they get.
Biggie was a loud yelling battle rapper when he came out... His lyrics were nice but he wasnt polished at all and he didnt become polished until Puff worked with him and helped him carve a style that better fit his talent...
you can assume Biggie would have been big anyway if you want to, but that isnt what happened... Puff deserves credit for what he did...

Since 1991. He had a hand in Jodeci and bringing Mary J to Uptown Records (who he was a record exec for.) Did lots of stuff with Heavy D and other Uptown Artist in the early 90s.
