Yeah if their tips don't meet minimum wage.
1. That will never happen. Servers make well above minimum wage everywhere I have ever seen. Because thankfully most people are not selfish enough to not tip.
2. It SHOULDN'T happen. Serving tables is hard work. A 5 hour shift as a server feels like an 8 hour shift doing almost anything else.
I care about this topic because I spent like 8 years of my life working as a server/bartender. I'll chill when I feel like it.

If tipping didn't exist, service would go in the toilet and then people would bitch and moan about that. There's a reason its there.
It’s there to make restaurants who have razor thin profit margins easier to keep open by getting customers to pay for employees. The service at the kinds of places you go and get bad service is always going to be bad because it’s a shitty establishment like waffle house. The service at a great restaurant is always going to be good because they train their waitstaff.
A great restaurant wouldn’t hire the shitty workers bad restaurants do and let them behave like bad servers.
A manager at a great restaurant actually cares about its reputation. IHOP doesn’t give a ****.
IHOP and Denny's and Waffle House exist because there is a market for everything... including cheap actual dine in breakfast(not mcdonald's) regardless of service.

Aside from the general disrespect and ungratefulness, which are my primary issues with it, I also worry about people ****ing with my food because someone in my party is being an asshole. I mean hell, even if only 1% of servers would do this, and I believe it to be higher, then that's too much of a risk.
