People thought he should have won by the time russell retired from playing in the league. But we all know it didn't happen immediately and he only won one title after that period of dominance by his own nemesis.

They went up 3-1 without Billy Cunningham, that Sixers team won 55 games the next year without Wilt. Obviously still had the talent to close them out. Wilt only took 9 shots in the closeout game 7.
In '69, before Wilt got injured in that game 7, the Celtics had a 15 point lead heading into the 4th. A 9 point lead the moment Wilt got injured. Lakers made a nice little run without Wilt so the coach refused to put him back in. Even if he did, no guarantees they win.
