Yes this is why I think it's impossible to side with Brand. He admits to having sex with a 16 year old, while he was 35, only he says it was consensual and she doesn't.

For him she was technically of legal age, but in the US about half the states would declare that sex with a minor.

To me, it's f@#ked up no matter what the law says were he is. I think that hints at him being a pedophile.

He was over twice her age. He was old enough to be her father. No one should be defending that.

This has been the rule for a long time already... rich, famous or regular person. It is no different than taking home a drunk woman from the bar. Both scenarios place you in a compromised position. Don't take huge risks on someone you just met.

After looking into him, during the time that these events happened, Brand was being treated for several addictions, including sex addiction and porn addiction. When he was 17 his father took him to a brothel and they shared prostitutes together. Brand also suffers from bipolar disorder and went through a period of self harming where he was cutting himself.

He has since recovered and is now in AA, and anti-porn. But during the time of these events he was a very f@#ked up lad.

I didn't know that but it goes without saying that that is extreme. For me, the cut off is 16, and even that it's a bit young, I'm cool with 18. I've never been attracted to teens, obviously only when I was a teen but once I hit my 20s, it's been 20s and over for me. But as I said, if that dude likes 16 year olds and it's legal where they at, the law doesn't care about our feelings, change the law instead of getting triggered.

Yeah, people in here are being very naïve; he was a loose cannon, to put it mildly. He wasn't the same that he is now.

He rocked up to work (at MTV) wearing an Osama Bin Laden costume. The day after 9/11. He got naked at a protest in like 2001. He was doing Hitler jokes and gestures while presenting an Awards show. That's just the tip of the iceberg really.

Americans have a hang up about 18 being the age of consent but it's 16 in the majority of our states and slightly less than 16 if averaged around the world
