You are the exemplar of ... ****. Of pure academic bull****. I've visited Stanford. That's not how people talk there. That's not how people talk anywhere. I have friends at Harvard, MIT and several top lib arts schools and they all are completely normal people. Check out the facebook group of the incoming class of any top school. Look at the wall and forum posts and the peoples' pictures. Almost none of them adhere to the rules of grammar and usage; most don't even capitalize "I," and all their pictures look like normal teenagers. They talk about normal things that everyone who's in their senior year of high school talks about. They're kids. You've created this pretend-world where everyone in a top-20 college is some crazy intellectual freakshow that speaks another language. In reality the only difference between the average Stanford student and the average Portland State student is how hard they worked in high school and what they grew up with and how much they care about school. Hardly anyone knows how to speak well these days, much less knows and uses a lot of big words, and almost everyone who does is middle-aged and tenured. Just be yourself.

are just like me last week Brown University sent me a letter saying that i was like on the boderline that they werent shure if they wanted to accept me or not they told me to get some more recommendation letters, and wanted to c how my senior grades are. They have accepted me right there and then, but my recommendation from a teacher was shytty it was so generic.

I will say this, Im friends with people from Yale and Columbia to Montclair State and when put into the same environment fighting for grades and battling intellects it hasnt made much of a difference. Just because you get into an ivy doesnt mean anything other then you not dumb, it doesnt make you gifted.

I'd like to take a legit IQ test or SAT right now, I'm sure I'd score horribly since I haven't had any schooling in around 3 years. I did pretty well on my SAT in high school, but everything was entirely fresh for the most part, and I actively took part in academics. Now that my biggest math problems involve some simple arithmetic in most cases I'd like to see if I could even break 500 (or whatever the equivalent is now) on the SAT. Still think I'd do pretty well on verbal though. And isn't there a science section now? I'd do horrible there.
