My dislike for Allen has nothing to do with my previous comment.
Some of the rumors I'm hearing about how scouts are feeling about certain guys means that the 76ers could end up getting some really quality players.
Heard that the U of Florida kids are slipping a little so they are pushing other guys down too.
I haven't seen him yet but a guy who's opinion I respect likes Dominic James from Marquette U. He said Dominic looks like he may fall to the late teens early twenties. Said his "potential range" is between Chauncey Billups and Mike James.
If they can add a lead guard of that caliber, if my guy is right of course, and a quality post guy (PF or C) in the draft they would have a serious young core to work with.
Young PG
Rodney Carney
Andre Igoudala
Young PF/Chris Webber
Dalembert/Young C
Granted I'm not fond of the coach, but that is a serious young group to work with.
so when does he play, in like a week??
i say he's in by friday if not tomorrow.
i remember someone getting traded and playing on the same day so having him play tomorrow is not impossible

Sixers got RAPED in this deal. How do they NOT get JR?
-
Wow, Denver is a power house now.
I understand. But The thing is NO ONE is going to trade for Kenyon Martin.
He has quite possibly the worst contract in the league.
His deal is about on par with what Juwan Howards was back in the day when he signed with Bullets.
They almost don't have a choice at this point. I agree that KMart's salary is highly unfavorable, but they have to find a way to get rid of him or renegotiate his contract... but him out... unless they're willing to trade Nene, though I don't think they are.

Which means that he could be anything from a career back-up to an All-Star. Your friend is quite the analyst.

The draft picks can be a important part of the trade

I agree with whomever said Denver's going to be a ***** in the first round.

They ARE. 2 first round picks + ours? 3 first rounds picks in 2007.

I think Ai and MELO will not clash at all.
its like PAul Pierce and Ricky davis...... Ricky had no problems because he knew the resume of Paul.
Well Melo is better then davis, and I think those 2 will help each others game.
I thnk JR smith goes down to about 15 points, but this move shows he needs to develop ALL AROUND.
I wanna see JR with his ability and athletiscm to be a 17-6-3 player at the least.
Melo 24-7-5
AI-22-4-8
then you got CAMBY who will give 12 10 2 3-4 blocks a nite.
Nene-still has much potential.
Decent bench and I think the nuggets will eb dangerous. They have AI as an expirer wen his wheels fall off.

First, Mike James has been a starting point guard for three straight seasons now.
Second, are you saying you've never heard someone give a best case and worst case scenario for a prospect?
-
Wow! The west gets EVEN STRONGER! Damn the this is gonna be fun watchin Iverson and Melo together playing, and see how the rest of the team will respond, will there be enough shots too go around?
I think Iverson and Melo will coexist and play well together, although it WILL be though for either of them the last seconds of some games that are close who will take the last shot.......
Man im really interested to see how this will work out, i do think the Nuggeta probably have a few growing pains but near the end of the season NO team will want to face them in the playoffs!!!
MAN HOW STRONG IS THE WEST NOW!!!!!!!
The east sucks a fat saucage!
-
AI and Melo will be great together in the Nuggz fast break system..
-
I know you guys think I'm an Iverson hater. I'm fine with that.
So can you please explain to the Iverson hater how this actually helps Denver become an elite team out West?
-
First, Mike James has been a starting point guard for three straight seasons now.

First, Mike James has still come off the bench in more games than he's started, and would not start at pg on most NBA teams.
Second, you just made a goofball assumption based on nothing. I don't get why that even came into your head.

They added another big time scorer, performer who has playmaking ability. JR Smith doesnt have to be the Nuggets 2nd leading scorer, AI will. He will impact the team more than Dre Miller does. Has playoff experience and steps up when it counts. Camby behind him is like Ratliff/Mutombo. He fits George Karl's style of play. :applause:

Having Iverson on the court makes it easier for everyone to score just by his ability to be a decoy and he really puts opponents' defenses at a disadvantage. He's also not a shabby defender. He does an excellent job at getting into passing lanes and getting steals. I'm not ready to say that Denver is elite... but it is likely.
-
Denver isn't exactly struggling to score. They are averaging 108 ppg, 2nd in the league while shooting 47%. The one thing they lack on offense is 3 pt shooting, not AI's forte.

Nah, his d is pretty terrible. At least it has been of late. He flat-out has been giving no effort on d this season. And I doubt that changes with Karl's Nuggets, who right now don't defend well at all. He'll get some steals by cheating on d but all of that cheating gets his team burned quite often. Great player overall but the d is lacking.

Denver has now traded four picks from the 07 draft (2 seconds for JR, 2 firsts for AI)

Fire Mcfail !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Hate You!!!!!!!!!

Philly is still looking to make a run at the playoffs this year, since Miller is a competent point guard and Joe Smith can provide some much needed depth at power forward and even some center when Philly goes to small ball.
Will AI defer to Carmelo? Will he accept being a second option? Will he pass the ball to Camby and Nene?
-
how many of yuo guys think Melo deep down doesn't like this trade?
Think about it, Melo has been overshadowed by Bron and Wade for almost his entire career. Things were so bad the second year, Melo straight out dropped off and were no longer mentioned along with Lebron and Wade. Finally Melo started taking baby steps last year to climb back up, and now this year, he finally earned his spot back with Lebron and Wade. He's getting MVP consideration, everyone is praising him.
Suddenly Iverson gose to his team. Now it may no longer be "Melo's team". Melo's numbers may drop. He may not win the scoring title anymore.
Remember, Melo isnt KG or Paul Pierce, he hasn't gone years and years of being on mediocre teams so Melo may not appreciate help the way those two would. Stars generally wants numbers and individual awards early on when they're young and don't appreciate having a good teammate to help out until later on in their careers.
-
Wow, can Melo and AI coexist? AI is friends with Melo, but he was also friends with Cheeks, and we all know how that turned out.
-

I made no assumption at all. Guy watched him play and said he thinks he can ge good and said he can either be a Mike Bibby/Chauncey Billups kind of guy (scores but not hurting the team in the process) or a Mike James kind of guy (sometimes look to score too often).

AI needs to defer to Carmelo, not the other way around.
Carmelo is on the upside of his career, while AI is on the downside.
AI needs to be more like Steve Nash.

...
I'm not really a true fan of Denver but I'll be paying special attention to the Nuggets now that they have Iverson on the team. Melo + Iverson could be a very good pair because of Melos ability to post up (he's a top five post player in the league) which will lead to bigger driving lanes than Iverson is used too.
If Nuggets grab a shooter at the deadline they could be a damn hard put-out in the playoffs. Next year? Man if Martin comes back healthy, and stays healthy (along with the rest of the team) they are the favorites to win it all.
They would have it all. Shooters (assuming they pick one up at the deadline, or off-season) playmakers, bench, defensive big men, coach & a true home-court advantage.
I'm pretty intrigued about how this will all turn out in Denver.
Iverson will always be remembered as a Sixer and it's a damn shame that he's leaving. Kinda like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning leaving their teams when they have been everything to the state for years. It's a sad day for myself as a big Iverson fan, as I'm sure its a sad day for all 76'er fans. Endings suck, especially when someone like Iverson was so embraced by the city.
The lasting moment of Iverson to me is stepping over Lue in the finals to put the "!" in the win.

Just you. Melo has already said he would love AI to come and play next to him.
I get that but do you think it's enough to get them by San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, or Houston in a seven game series?
They match up with Phx well, be a good series and they definately getting past Houston. I lost all faith in Tmac's back.
Spurs and Mavs will be tough.
AI needs to be more like Steve Nash.
And that is the problem.
You guys are overrating AI's "playmaking/point guard" ability. The guy averaged 7-8 dimes a game "the weak way". Meaning he gets his assists by dribbling, dribbling, dribbling, drive into triple team, then throw some crazy cross court pass to a three point shooter.
Steve Nash's assists are much more efficient, simple and basic.
This is no bash on Iverson, he's one of my favorite players. But dude is a SCORER. He can't be Nash, just like Nash can't be Iverson.
Just you. Melo has already said he would love AI to come and play next to him.
I know you're a AI fan but stop being childish, GoBB. Didn't AI say he would love to play for Mo Cheeks? Didn't AI almost blew his load when he heard Webber was going to his team?
-
Sixers got RAPED in this deal. How do they NOT get JR?
They have Iguodala, Carney and Korver. Of the three picks they have, at least one will be used on a swingman. There's no need for J.R. Smith.
-
How good this trade is for Denver depends on one thing and one thing only... how willing Iverson is to become a facilitator.
If he plays exactly like he did in Philly with Denver, then the trade was not only pointless, it was a bad move.
If he decides to play like a point who looks for others first and his own shot second, then Denver is going to be really, really good.
I'll say it ends up being somewhere in between with the Nuggets being about as good as they are now, maybe a hair better.
