2nd gif really impressed me. Nice handles :applause:
Filled in for my brother tonight in his rec league. I think I scored 30, so that was good. Turns out rec league defense isn't always... well... existent. From what I've heard, we're supposed to play Lindsey Hunter's team next week, so even if I inevitably get locked down in that game, I could still walk out of there with a 15 points per game average for my little fill-in stint. I can live with that.
In other news, I'm still trying to figure out whether I'm done dunking in games or not. My very first attack of the night, when I was still nervous about playing in a new setting with teammates I didn't know, I had a clear lane, elevated, and probably had an opportunity to dunk, but turned my hand over and opted for the drop-in because I wasn't sure of myself. Then I somehow managed to bounce the ball off the back rim and out. Need to get some confidence back in regards to elevating.

Thanks
Extra large hands (can grip the ball) and years of a childhood spent dribbling a ball make hoops second nature to me. Just wish I had the size/genetics to go with skill.
61-64 with 40 secs to go in the 4th... Soo clock is ticking, I get the ball with 35 secs to go, to work on perimeter but just jack up a long long 3 and it goes in. #NoHesitation
I walk with my one hand and one finger up as opp coach is screaming on those 18 y.o were playing against.. Next possetion and they look lost, we get the stop, team mates quickly go into fast break to finish the game but some of us notice that there is 10 secs on the clock remaining, so we stop, couple passes, I get the ball with 5 secs remaining, make a drive and they foul me.
Hit both FT to win the game111
best night ever
Finished with 14 pts 5 rebs 3 ast 4 st, 3/5 3pt 1/1 2pt 3/4 ft.
Dude... are you in the NY area? That court looks really familiar.
LOL no. In South Korea.
I outscored a 44-year-old Lindsey Hunter tonight, haha.
I wore down late though. Ran out of energy because I exerted a little extra on defense trying not to look like an idiot guarding Lindsey. Thankfully, he mostly seemed satisfied with setting himself up to pull from deep. Kept trying to get me with a cross, hoping to put me on my heels so he could get a clean look from deep. Just tried not to bite. He hit two anyway, both from a healthy distance.
I feel pretty stupid though. Scored eight of our first ten and wore down as the game wore on (we had six players). Finished with 15 after scoring 30 last week (hashtag shameless brag). We led by 10 at half and coughed it up :-\ They started hitting from deep - they also had a guy named Pierre Dukes who played for Oakland U. in the mid-2000's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q2dc2UixlI). He was hitting. Good player.
They sat in a 2-3 zone and there were gaps - I just didn't make myself have the energy to go to those gaps with enough frequency, so kind of a regretful feel about things. Also missed a wide open layup that would have cut our deficit to two with a couple minutes left. Caught a 50 foot pass with my back to the basket, tried to turn and go up immediately and inexplicably lost control of the ball as I went up. Shoulda dunked it, didn't know if I could.
Definitely my worst game of the past three weeks. Lindsey also picked me up full court one possession. I eluded him with an in-and-out dribble and proceeded up the floor, pumped the brakes a little, and he back-tipped me, leading to a transition bucket the other way. Another stupid move on my part.
This last part belongs in the brag thread we had around here for a while. My last five games, points-wise: 35, 19, 30, 25, 15. Just upset to leave with such a bad taste in my mouth after tonight's performance.
We played 2 on 2 basketball race to 25. Scored 16 points.

I bet he's still a pretty sick baller. There's a 30 year old baller at our gym who has played in the sweet 16 in college. I've never had the guts to guard him.
Lost to a team we should have beaten last night. I played pretty poorly. Felt out of sync all first half. Knew I wasn't giving my all but struggled to make myself exert the way I should have been. Picked it up in the second half but overdid it. Forced some shots at the hoop. Finished with 18, but it wasn't my favorite 18.
Also, late in the game I eluded a defender at the top of the key and it looked like they were going to concede my layup (wide open lane with them leading by seven). So I went to just drop it over the rim and a lanky feller came out of nowhere (literally never saw him) and destroyed my shot. Probably one of the worst blocks I've absorbed in my life. He and I had a good laugh about it afterward.

Watched part of his game after ours last night and even with his willingness to fire and drill from deep, the other team still managed to give him ample breathing room on almost every trip down. Questionable defensive strategy there.

My family friend used to see Meta World Peace ball alot in his early days before the NBA in Queensbridge. He said he was crazy good and had a crazy side to him back then too.
Lost in Championship of YMCA league. :(
In my other league though I had one of the hottest streaks I've ever been on. Blew an alley oop the first play of the game :lol. Team we were playing brought their whole families, we actually had a pretty big crowd for a Y league game. One dude brought his little brother who was probably 18 or 19 and he brought 4 or 5 of his friends, they were sitting on the bench courtside. I hit 3 three's in a row in the final few minutes of the first half. I was showboating a little, you know doing the LeBron celebration. They were loving it. Open the second half hit another 2 in a row, 5 in a row total now. Im feeling it! Crowd starts getting louder after every three I hit, they know I'm on a roll. *the team I'm playing is a bunch of cool dudes, it's a competitive league but not ultimate shit talking assholes like some other teams (I'm a shit talker so I like that) but we cool with this team.* Now they start doubling when I cross half court. BANG 6 in a ROW! I swear I can't feel my face and anything right now. Other team scores, as I'm bringing the ball up, dudes lil bro and friends was like keep pulling!!. Im in another world. I pull up next possession from hella deep...BANGGG!!! 7 in a row. Next possession, I'm crossing half court... I get a pick at damn near half court, defender goes under, I'm like **** it! Pull up from like 4 or 5 feet inside halfcourt, it leaves my hand..I hear the ****ing crowd start to make noise...SWISH. Place went ****ing nuts, even refs were just shocked. I didn't move. I stared at it through and said **** defense and just stood there. I don't know what was going on in my head but it was euphoric. We lost the game :lol but it was the best feeling in the world and is the reason I play ball. The RUSH that was going on inside me was indescribable. Can only imagine what it's like to be doing that on the big stage like some NBA stars. What a feeling.

Thanks Brah. I'll just pm you when I visit New York.
Showed up for our playoff game last night, won, then found out we had to play a second game an hour later... against Lindsey Hunter's team again. Had a five-point lead on them at halftime but lost again. I think they're going to run the table.
I was technically a guest in this league, joining a team midway through. I think the worst thing that could have happened was dropping 33 my first week, for I spent much of the rest of the games chasing those numbers, often at the expense of other aspects of my game.
Finally, last night, I went out of my way not to score (unless super clearly presented) and tried to right the ship in all the other aspects of my game. Unfortunately, I probably hurt us by being a little too unaggressive, but I think maybe I'm setting myself up to find a better balance moving forward. Played tougher defense, passed mostly well (except for an overpass here or there), rebounded way better on the defensive glass (still need to get back to offensive boards), and played totally under control.
The next step will be ramping the scoring back up while continuing to keep all those other areas in check.
Some rec. league vets here may find this humorous, I don't know: I drew four charges in our first game last night, haha. I also committed one myself. Official said he'd never called so many charges in a rec. game in his life (other players drew some too). Opponent ran out of players due to fouls, had to finish four-on-five.
guys I'm having a lot of trouble bringing the ball up the floor on the break. I always lose it bringing it up :banghead: :hammerhead: :facepalm :(

Use some pro grip. You can buy it at some Sports Stores.
Put things all together during last rec. game. Played hard in many realms, re-implemented sizable scoring attack, won handily. Felt good.
Saw a guy pull a couple Kobe post moves and deep threes in game today. He swished all of them. It was nice
3/8 7 points (1 3, 2 close-mid shots) in a 24-22 loss. 3-4 rebounds. Few blown assignments despite 2 steals. Didn't look for my shot nearly as much. Took way too many 3s.

Drink some milk, or eat any dairy products.
Only scored 9 points ( 1 points shot, 3 tear drop layup) in 8 minutes. We won the score is 76-42. First time I played full court basketball since I injured my ankle ( Grade II Ankle Sprain.)
Welp, my basketball experiences have come full circle in the last month. I went from playing against former pro's in my rec league to a day last week when I played 3-on-3 against a group of players that included two middle schoolers. They were really impressed with my ability to make a standard reverse layup.
Last night I weaved past a defender, had an unstable takeoff, and finished with a rattle/rimgrab/layup hybrid. It was by no means a dunk, but considering my drop-off on in-game dunks since I turned 30, and my confidence drop due to wondering if those days were done, that finish was a good sign. With a good takeoff - maybe in the open floor - I might feel better about attempting to truly dunk again.

30 is nothing for the average joe, even one that plays every day. 30 in the NBA is still somewhat young, but keep in mind, they play 82 games a season, have practices, go through injuries, fly all the time, and have other stuff like national teams and random games to top it off

Even if it doesn't mean I'll see a big drop off, it does probably mean my athletic peak may be a few years behind me, in terms of leaping ability anyway. So there's kind of the wonder of "Is today the day where, regardless of my strength and shape, I just can't explode quite like I used to?"
For comparison, LeBron James is close to me in age. And while he still has many moments where he looks like the same LeBron we've always known, in terms of elevation and explosion (like his windmill against Boston in the first round), he doesn't seem to get to that point quite as often as he used to.
Obviously, James is on a different planet from me, but it's a similar notion. I feel my athleticism is still mostly all there, just I can't hit my peak explosion as often as I used to.
Just practiced shooting the ball after the game.
Just scored 21 points. Our team losses because only 5 players played for our team.
Our team got eliminated. Our team Standing is 4-5. Losses 1 game via default.
My averaged in the first 4 games is 10 ppg on 41 FG%
My averaged in the last 4 games is 19 ppg on 50 FG%
So I averaged 14.5 ppg on 45.5 FG% in 8 games
Had my first real legit in-game dunk in a long time last night. I knew it might be coming after noticing my elevation re-emerging a few weeks ago (mentioned a weak rim-grab-layup a few posts ago near the start of May).
I actually had two dunks last night. The first was kind of testing the waters - it was a dunk just not with a ton of sauce. Considering the ease with which I put that one down, I had a lot of confidence for my next opportunity, and I hammered (one hand, one foot).
Also put down a two-hand, two-foot dunk with ease afterward (not in-game), which is the first time I've been able to do that cleanly is some time as well. I chalk it up to warm weather, better shape, and an increase in confidence.
First time I played basketball since our last Game almost 3 weeks ago. It feels good.
Haven't played ball in weeks. Plan to play tomorrow night.
Been having sore knees on a daily basis. I guess it's due to the lack of working out. They feel way too sore for a person whose in their early 20s =/.
