Donald Trump gets little jobs credit from blacks, Hispanics
Published 6:47 PM EDT, May 5, 2019
Black and Hispanic workers are seeing record-low unemployment and rising wages under President Trump, yet community leaders say it likely is not enough to sway their support to the president in next year’s election.
The unemployment rate for Hispanics dropped to 4.2% in April, the lowest level since the government began tracking the data in 1973.
Unemployment for black Americans was at a near historic low of 6.7%, up slightly from the record low set last year.
Average hourly pay rose 3.2% in the past 12 months. The fastest increase in pay was pocketed by low-wage workers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“The new jobs report is further proof that the Trump economy continues to boom and deliver benefits that all Americans are feeling,” said Trump campaign spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany. “With this kind of momentum, we look forward to hearing the economic plans of the Democrats as they spin tales about Americans not feeling the results of the Trump economy, when in fact workers everywhere can feel the boom.”

I agree, but answer the question. You’re blaming Biden for lagging wages, so obviously you believe there’s a policy he can enforce at the macro level to remedy this.

If Biden were to do that, Republicans/conservatives would be crying "COMMUNISM!!" It's clear that they are only bitchin' due to who is in power. It's meant to be misleading and disingenuous.

As a temporary effect, yeah, but in the long term they technically shouldnt be, whatever money the government collects through taxes still ultimately goes somewhere else. The same amount of money will still exist. If the money is out there it's gonna find it's way into the market one way or another.
Ultimately the only DIRECT way to inflate the dollar as far as I'm aware is to increase the supply of money or reduce the supply of goods. That's what a dollar's value comes down to. You could argue a variety of different factors can lead to one of those things happening. But the direct cause of inflation is gonna be one of those two things, methinks.

Re: 18 eggs cost me 10.99 today
Anyway inflation does suck for us, because we end up with less disposable income, at least for a time, but think of all the places around the world where there is no disposable income, and rising food prices equate to outright starvation. That's actually happening. It doesnt get a ton of play in the news but tens of millions of people around the world who WERENT starving before covid are starving now.
And yeah I know some people will say "well the planet is overpopulated" and yes that is absolutely true, but that doesnt mean covid and the response to it was some kinda calculated thing specifically timed to have this effect on a planet with unsustainable population growth and development. It just means that pandemics happen sometimes. Well I mean they hadnt happened in a long time, but this one happened. And we just have to deal with it. On the bright side, it significantly sped up the path to reduced carbon emissions in the developed world. On the tragic side, millions in the third world died due to the supply chain disruptions caused by Covid.
So when you pay an extra 30, 40 cents for eggs just remember that huge numbers of people in Sri Lanka and Ghana and Yemen are actually dying off. So much so that the continuous encroachment on natural preserves and wildlife in these regions is probably even reversing to an extent. It's a humanitarian tragedy. Just remember that the extra 30 cents you pay each time you buy eggs is killing those people off. Youre paying 30 cents more to eradicate human life in these places. And you can thank Joe Biden for that. I mean that sarcastically of course, because it's a terrible thing that I'm not happy is happening. Thanks a lot Joe.

Is there MORE money in the system when there are massive tax cuts? I would say NO - it's the same amount of money - just a matter of WHO has/gets the money - the government OR everybody else (taxpayer, corporations, etc.). I believe the government should SPEND what/less than they take in (of course, I don't mean special situations like world wars, covid, etc.). So you probably mean the deficit (less tax revenue without cutting spending) - but I have already shown the inflation numbers under Trump and his tax cuts did not significantly affect inflation.
So, going forward, who thinks Biden's $7.3 trillion budget is going to make inflation worse than whatever Trump would put forward? I don't think (even with increased defense spending), Trump's budget would be that crazy. Regarding defense spending - I think they should move away from the big stuff [aircraft carriers/planes] and toward drones/technology/AI [collaborate with Silicon Valley (lol-that ain't happening)] and streamline. Every department in federal government should cut their budget 2% until this debt is under control. But no, they're probably going to continue with this automatic annual % increase and nutty spending until our dollar is worthless/no longer the world's reserve currency (then we'll really be in ****).

He is spot on. Joe Biden does not control egg prices. To be fair Trump was pegged unfairly the same way. But if we are going to make any kind of progress the general population really needs to stop pretending that Presidents are in complete control of the world's economy.
Even under that false guise Biden has done better with the US economy than the rest of the world has.

For the most part the entire globe is fighting inflation together. Clearly this is beyond the leader of any nation. But you can swap that to just 50% control of the US economy if you want to. And please feel free to explain how Joe Biden single handedly made eggs expensive.

Good luck explaining logic to rmt or any of the Trumpeters. You won't get anywhere. They think everything was wonderful under lil Donny and everything bad under biden. They don't realize that we were hit by covid and just came out of shutdowns a year and half ago. Inflation has come down significantly, and we are doing better than pretty much all of the developed countries.
All they have are numbers before covid but that means leaving out the elephant in the room (covid, shutdowns). Rmt is being intentionally obtuse, knowing full well the impact of covid, but it would damage the agenda.

Iirc, Trump (after following the ILL-advice of public health officials like Fauci, Birx, etc) quickly realized the shutdown was a mistake and pushed for opening up. It was the DEMS who wanted us at home and masked and who were big on shutdowns - especially the teachers' unions. Republican states (like my home state Florida) pushed for opening up. Are you seriously absolving Dems of blame - what revisionist history.

Re: 18 eggs cost me 10.99 today
Unvaccinated were dying at a significant higher rate than vaccinated throughout the 2020-2023 saga. The virus got weaker as time went by with later variants. Shutdown was the right call at least from summer 2020 to spring 2022 once the majority was vaccinated.
Who teaches kids in schools?
Couldn't find for teachers - here are employees:
Miami-Dade County Public Schools Employee Average Age
Less than 18 years 5%
18-20 years 8%
20-30 years 39%
30-40 years 23%
40+ years 23%
https://www.zippia.com/miami-dade-county-public-schools-careers-291405/demographics/
Only 23% (of employees) over 40 years old - if career teacher (say started after college graduation) and works 30 years for pension, they would retire at 52. How many teachers are over 52 years old? What do you consider old? So, instead of allowing a small percentage of "old" teachers to teach remotely, teachers' unions forced all students (and teachers) to go remote.
And who teaches kids in schools in Sweden? And their death rate was not significantly worse than countries who shutdown.
Aren't there OLD doctors, nurses, firefighters, EMTs, etc? What's so special about teachers? Oh yes, they work with the age group LEAST likely to be affected by covid. Yet the teachers' unions/Democratic arm forced closed schools (sometimes long) after other areas/businesses opened up.

Re: 18 eggs cost me 10.99 today
During the pandemic, mostly every other industry was forced to adapt on the fly in order to stay operational. I remember sitting in on countless zoom meetings and had to jump through all sorts of hoops every time a new guideline or restriction was handed out. The state did everything they could to make it harder for us to work... but we stuck it out and worked around it the best way we could, even it required having to move mountains sometimes. We had no other choice.
The public school sector on the other hand did everything they could to AVOID having to re-open. Over a year into the pandemic and some states hadn't even formulated a plan yet. Didn't take a rocket scientist to see what was really going on.
