Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Markkanen is severely overpaid. That's gotta be a tough sell without taking back bad contracts in return. If Miami is desperate enough maybe Wiggins (1 more year) + Rozier (expiring) straight up?
I disagree I think Lauri would command interest. He’s a very good floor spacer. I don’t know about him defensively but I know scoring/shooting that’s the going rate for someone having his skills. I see value with him.
-
Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
He has value. What the jazz will take is the question. He has to go eventually. Different timeline than ace, hendricks, collier and company

I don't know about that. What is the difference between him and MPJ?

7 feet. Plays 3 positions. 3 level scorer. Elie shooter

MPJ shoots a much higher 2P FG% and 3PT%. Markkanen is also not a 3-level scorer. He barely gets to the FT line. 3.9 FTAs per game for the number one option os underwhelming.
-
Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
3 level scorer is scoring from 3, mid range and at the rim. Mpj is getting a lot more uncontested shots im sure. Id ignore last year with lauri when the jazz were having him do things out of his wheel house. Another way to ensure losing. Lauri better rebounder. Gets to the line more. Been a 1st option not 3rd option spot shooter

The flaw in your thinking is he will not be the first option regardless of where he goes. His numbers and impact can only go down. He and MPJ will be the same once Markkanen goes elsewhere.

Ideally he isnt a first option. His numbers are as a 1st option not taking wide open shots playing to the best player in the world. Lauri is a lot better player from what ive seen. He can shoot over anyone at his size.

At 6'10" MPJ can shoot over anyone too.
I don't see it. Markkanen is slightly better... slightly. Both overpaid. My whole point was I can see Markkanen's contract becoming like MPJ difficult for a playoff team to offload.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Be hard to see it since porter hasnt been the 1st option. Lauri more versatile. Bigger. Better

DeAndre Ayton to the Lakers is official.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Not sure if he's the "lob threat" Luka wanted, but he's an upgrade over nothing. He's been consistent his whole career. 14/10 at least every year he's been in the league.
He's games played and stats has regressed the last three seasons. I except he won't be averaging 14PPG or more with the Lakers with LeBron, Luka and Reaves in front of him shooting. Let's hope for 12/12 year for him with 65+ played games.

Just saw hawks got unprotected pels 1st next season in draft day move. Dumars off to great start!

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Clayton jr. Showing the whole package. Could be starting with sexton gone. Ace is athletic and talented but very raw. Probably should start in gleague but wont. Easier to lose games with gleafiers

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
VJ 1 Ace 0, these two forever will be linked unfortunately at least with the Sixers fanbase. But also folks who were big/low on Ace in general. Ace definately works on tough shots as he took them quite a bit. He had a great block showing his length. He may not be 6’10 but he’s pretty long. VJ on the other hand mirrored Jimmy Butler in the ways he was scoring. Mid range pull ups especially on baseline. Also demonstrated his burst of speed with a nice dunk carving up the defense. He didn’t shoot well from 3 but let it fly when he had the shot. VJ is very right hand dominant. Going to need to incorporate that left. He had a dunk blocked coming from the left side using right hand to dunk. As like McCain is a damn good rebounder for a guard.
Very good debut by VJ. Why sixers don’t go into summer league with a PG? Beyond me. It was god awful watching dudes try to run point. Sensabaugh cooked for Utah. He’s a ringer to me lol Don’t belong there. Bona ate lookin like Zion a bit with his dunks at the rim overpowering defenders. Filipowski received a lot of that treatment. He’s not much of a defender and bit on two shot fakes from a guy that isn’t known as a shooter. That said offensively he looked good.
Bout the only noticeable players that game. Summer league is ugly basketball. But these guys stood out over most.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Didnt notice clayton jr.? He can use his left hand which i was impressed by. Seemingly a lost art. Defended made shots inside and oit. Ran the floor. Made plays for others. Ace had 7oot reach so good length nothing spexial. Very athletic. Good motor. Still raw. Collier made some great passes. Still needs to work on his shot. Keyonte george needs to go obviously. Clayton jr., collier and sensabaugh have it covered.

I noticed him you already spoke on him tho. lol very poised player. He had an impressive debut. More seasoned than his fellow rookie peers

Bro Lauri is way better than MPJ. He actually has a bag where as porter Jr has absolutely none. Hes a catch and shoot 3pt shooter who often goes cold when it counts. Role player with no upside.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Hard to believe VJ put up 27 shots in a game. He only averaged 11.5 shots per game at Baylor.

He wanted to showcase he can score off the dribble. Did a good job at that.

Be more of a catch and shoot defender if they are healthy i imagine

I saw him do it at random times at Baylor, then he would go back to passive. Maybe he is being told to be aggressive in SL.

Yeah his role will be completely different with Maxey embiid and George

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Load management in the summer league is disgusting. VJ out with thumb injury smh foh
-
Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Ace was impressive. Appears to be everything you could hope for. Makes the game look easy all over the floor. Takes some tough shots which he will get better at. Trade lauri. The ace era has begun!
-
Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion
Saw his highlights not the game. He balled out. Most of his pts were either from dunks (had one explosive nasty dunk) or C & S shots. He did have one fadeaway off a rebound he got. But all the highlights I saw were C & S. None were off the dribbles or him having to show handles. Which has been the knock on his game and if he ever wanted to fulfill the hype. I will say all the nonsense about his height? You sure as hell couldn’t tell he was “6’7 without shoes! He’s a midget wahh”.
But it’s summer league so the overreactions good or bad will happen. Yearly thing. And with so much drama around Ace the negative will outsell the positive. Comes with the territory. I still do not like his agent and/or advisors. Bunch of idiots and when Ace matures he will see that and get real deal representation to take him to the next level.
Curious if VJ plays tonight? Curious if Ace sits after last night. Sensabsugh needs to be kicked off SL. lol
