[h=1]Bogdanovic Flourishes While Clarkson Struggles As Jazz Crush Nets[/h]
flourishes? Let's not go over board
Still, the Jazz are going to need Clarkson to right the ship before the postseason. Last year Clarkson averaged 20.3 points per game in the team’s three playoff wins, and just 14 points in the four losses.
that right there tells the story. We're going to need him, Bojan and Favors
Re: 2020-21 Regular season- The tax team
https://www.sltrib.com/sports/jazz/2021/03/25/triple-team-nets-rested/
What can the NBA do about this? I don’t know. I think at this point, it’s kind of a problem that’s a symptom of the league’s structure. 72 games in a compressed schedule results in a playoff setup where home-court advantage just doesn’t matter very much — most of your series aren’t going to go to a Game 7, and if it does, that game is much more likely to be determined by matchup considerations than by where the game is being played.
doesn't have much to do with the schedule. Same as last year
Do you know who has been weirdly ineffective in isolation situations this season? Jordan Clarkson!
and that's pretty much all he does
But Clarkson’s more of a surprise. We know him as a twitchy scorer, but that hasn’t actually translated into isolation success this year; instead he’s been much more effective as a pick-and-roll or spot-up guy.
Like Bojan he should just spot up
I think it makes some sense, actually. For as good as a scorer as he is, Clarkson doesn’t exactly jump off the charts athletically. He doesn’t have blow-by speed, he doesn’t have amazing verticality, he scores through essentially guile and extreme skill.
I'd say he's very athletic.
Bojan Bogdanovic, who has been having a really rough time lately, especially from a shooting perspective, put together a really solid game on Wednesday. He finished with 18 points, including going 4 of 6 from deep. He also went 4 of 5 from the free-throw line and added three rebounds and three assists. He actually would have had more assists if his teammates would have hit a couple of open shots.
why would you tell us there 6'8 forward who some call their PF had 3 rebounds? :facepalm
Jordan Clarkson went into Wednesday’s game shooting 30.6% from 3-point range over the last 10 games. Then he went 1 of 11 from beyond the arc against Brooklyn. I guess that when one slump closes (Bogdanovic), another one opens. While some of Clarkson’s shots were missed, wide open looks, there were also quite a few bad shots that he should have never taken. From everything that we’ve heard from NBA players over the years, the best way to break out of a slump is to just keep shooting, but you’d kind of like him to wait for the good looks rather than taking the bad ones right now.
even when he's good he takes lots of bad looks.
Number 45 looked un-guardable tonight. Despite only playing 27 minutes, Mitchell put up 27 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and zero turnovers. He was a plus 38 on the game. THIRTY-EIGHT. Over the last few games, Mitchell has played at a higher level than normal. Instead of getting ahead of himself and trying to make difficult plays, he is reading the game, finding his spots, and making defenses pay for being out of place. This is the Donovan Mitchell that can lead the Utah Jazz on a deep playoff run.

the last two games anyway

a pretty good pick. Would have rather given up their own pick if they have it. So 1 2nd and no 1st this summer? Gt another pick for Hughes and open up a roster space for Porter when he gets bought out?
But this does appear to be a solid pickup. Utah sends a second round pick for Thomas who is likely better than anything they might have drafted with their second round pick.
but not better than what they could get in Otto Porter. They would have to cut Ersan who they need more than this guy or this guy now
This also provides solid depth to the bench. The Jazz have seen multiple players slump lately including Jordan Clarkson and Bojan Bogdanovic. Having Thomas gives Utah the chance to get some immediate shooting if needed in a pinch.

Ersan and Morgan.

Seems like he’s about the same level as Oni—almost the exact same 3 point % this year even. Probably a guy you can at least use in a playoff series, where Hughes and Forrest really aren’t ready and Harrison was a big disappointment.
Not too worried about trading a 2nd round pick. Who was our last 2nd round pick that made the rotation for us? Jeremy Evans?

better shooter than Oni. Probably not as good at anything else. Harrison makes more sense. Not sure how he was disappointing. Tried him out and didn't like him
He was Georges Niang’s teammate on the Iowa State Cyclones. So there is that. He went to Europe for a while before the raptors snatched him up. He was put on the other team’s best offensive player in college with the cyclones.
I don’t really know about on the Raptors since it seems like they held up a huge FIRE SALE sign up this trade deadline but, ultimately give the guy a chance. I think he can do some good things in whatever bench minutes he may get.
