I think it is one of those situations where word spread that he was "attractive" and finding him attractive was just the cool thing to do if you were a girl in the Portland area. Kind of like Megan Fox. She isn't that attractive, but people say she is and next thing you know other it became cool to say you thought she was hot, leading to people eventually convincing themselves that she is.
