Not sure the Jazz could match that? He was probably going there no matter what?

Re: 2022 off-season post draft
I'm gonna guess they moved O'Neale out cause Danny is losing hair over a lack of picks and they are gonna keep Hernangomez on a cheaper deal. Starting 5 is mostly the same ATM, but they've got about $20 million in TPE now that they could perhaps take some players back from a team looking to do a salary dump to free up space to sign a FA.

Need more guys like O'Neale, House, Juan, Forrest not less. Clarkson, Conley and maybe Gay is where I'd have looked first

Yea, the "get better on the perimeter on D" part certainly isn't looking like it's being worked on with who has left vs who has stayed.
Finally, the Jazz did not extend a qualifying offer to Trent Forrest either. And what do we know about Forrest? He’s a player that’s pretty close to Donovan Mitchell. Here he is just a few days ago with Mitchell at Louisville.
didn't know Trent was especially close to him. O'Neale was obvious since they joined the team

which describes Rudy to a t. He'll fit in fine
Maybe if it were Barrett, EF and those picks I would jump. Otherwise probably pass. Knick would actually be good for any years with C Randle Brunson and DM in their prime. That makes those picks pretty average and probably All outside the lottery.
small back court and Randle. Good luck with that shit show!
The problem with sending Donovan the message that it's not all about him (by waiving or trading all of his friends on the team) is that I think Eric Paschall is actually a player the Jazz could have retained on a small contract and developed into a valuable rotation player, based on snippets of good play when he was actually given minutes last season--regardless of his connection with Donovan Mitchell. It makes me think of the old colloquialism, "don't cut off your nose to spite your face!"
he's looked like an end of the bench energy guy to me. He's still fairly young so maybe that can change?
Shortly before news of Kevin Durant's trade request surfaced, the Brooklyn Nets acquired Royce O'Neale in a trade with the Utah Jazz. The trade was considered odd from the Utah perspective in sending out a starter for a first round pick.
I hardly think it's odd but he certainly wouldn't have been the first guy I'd have looked to move. Maybe he got the most return? If Philly sucks this year for some reason the Jazz could have one of the top picks in the draft next year. Sounds like even if it's the 30th pick it will be like a lottery most years. I'm surprised he brought that much and from a team that will be rebuilding it appears!
Windhorst also outlined that the pattern currently on display with the Jazz mirrors how Danny Ainge initiated a rebuild of the Boston Celtics in 2013 when they traded out Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and even Doc Rivers and then hired Brad Stevens.
That team was old. Gobert has never been better than he was last year. How much longer he can play at that level remains to be seen but he has hardly started his decline. Mitchell was getting better until post all star break for whatever reason that was.

he would be the best or at least 2nd best player on that team depending on ANT's development. He wouldn't be the highest paid though! Gobert's deal with each super max deal signed by guys that haven't carried their teams like Rudy has. Legit big 3. They would be one of the best teams in the league instantly
Re: 2022 off-season post draft
Jazz aren't going to want D'angelo so at least one other team would have to be involved I imagine. Jazz should be after young players, expiring contracts and assets if they get rid of Gobert.

Looks like it would work without D'Angelo. If they were going to do it Minnesota actually looks like a good team to do it with. A bunch of really young guys and picks this year. Expiring contracts. Any two of Beasley,Beverley and Prince works. All good players that could be moved again.
Then you get what you can for Bojan, Clarkson, Conley and Gay,

looks like it may have some legs. Could challenge for the best Minny team ever and certainly one of the top teams in the league. Jazz will be losing a lot going into a huge draft next year
