Hey, I was trying to put a positive spin on this for the Sixers!!!
This year is pretty much dead for the Sixers, but every team gets one year to stink and rebuild.
They still have some good young talent in Iguodala, Korver, Dalembert. Maybe Carney will turn out to be a good player. Also possibly Green.
With their first round pick this year and two more, maybe they'll get Oden. Who knows.
But either way, with three first round picks next year, they should be set to have a revamped team next year.
I could see Joe Smith traded again if some team was willing to give up a second round pick (say the Sonics in exchange for Fortson and a 2nd round pick).
Or possibly the Spurs, who could give up a first round pick (which would be late in the draft) along with Eric Williams and some other contract for Joe Smith and a 2nd round pick. The Spurs get some depth in the front court and the Sixers swap out a 2nd round pick for a 1st round pick.
Hey, I was trying to put a positive spin on this for the Sixers!!!
1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Brandon Wright
Top 3 prospects. Thats positive right there my friend!

Dalembert = good young talent? :oldlol: You can have him for your first round pick. Want him?

That's the Sun's pick and no thanks.
would u give up sammy for a 2nd rounder?
theres a good chance Iverson is now going to own the league.
-2 weeks rest. all those minor injuries have healed. he'll be 100% in late December for the first time his entire career.
-he's bitter. 90% of the media reports/articles are dissing his style of play, ability to win, etc
-his career just got a fresh start. he's playing with a team better suited for his game (better rebounders, defenders, better players)
-Denver front office just said they talked to AI and he couldnt have sounded any more excited.
cant wait to order my jersey!
top 2 scorers in the league on the same team, crazy
AI + JR + Melo = ABSOLUTELY NASTY!!!
6ers set up with three 1st rounders not bad. If you could add Durant or Oden (im sure theyll get a shot at one of them), a good point guard like Dominic James and a big man (maybe Hibbert from Georgetown?) theyd be lookin real nice.

Dalembert for our first round pick (which is Indiana's)?
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Dalembert would be great as a backup for Zaza.
The Hawks are under the cap and cap swap out say Lue, Batista, and Freije and a no. 1 for Dalembert.
Sixers make the playoffs they lose their #1 to GS, why would that be a positive for a rebuilding team?
you guys remember how fast iverson got tired at the all star game in denver because of the high altitude? He was breathing all heavy by halftime. I wonder if he will play fewer minutes because of that same reason.
I dont get it on phillys end ..They passed up on getting Sam Cassel and Corey Maggette and instead got j smith and A.miller...Im sure phillys excited about that one lol:rolleyes:
theres a good chance Iverson is now going to own the league.
He also has 15 games where he will be Denver's only star player.

This deal is better for the salary cap. Cassell and Maggette doesn't really help this team re-build. This team needs to dump salary. Add in the draft picks, and I like this deal more than Cassell and Maggette. Although Maggette would have been a great pickup, he's not better than Iverson so the team doesn't get any better.

They say it's something you get used to.. but here's a scary thought:
Imagine AI when he's used to Denver air, playing road games in our nice heavy air? *zoom!*

Tyler Hansborough! Psycho T! Acie Law, lock em up. Hello!
*mocking the tj who's ya mama guy in the FF commercial*
on Allen Iverson. I thought Miami was in because of Allen's desire for a ring. Miami however could not assure 2 first round draft picks the Nuggets could offer Philly. Wow.
As exciting as the two will be they have only moved to contender in the West, and still are not in a position to topple either Phoenix, Dallas or San Antonio, and certainly not all three to get to the finals. Had he landed in Miami, the likelihood he would have contender for the NBA championship would have been nearly assured.
Nah that comparison is way off. Durant has so much more talent in terms of ball handling, athleticism, quickness, defense and obviously potential.
Like you said, his numbers are a lot better and he already looks like a leader at Texas.
My comparison is "way" off from Tim Thomas at Nova? Have you seen him at Nova? Dude was a star just like Kevin. He had a sweet stroke, put it on the floor, had good athleticism. Sporting News Freshman of the Year. Big East Freshman of the Year. Big East Third Team selection. He wasn't as much fo a leader cause they had Alvin Williams running things while the Longhorns lost Aldridge, Gibson, and PJ Tucker. Everyone was raving Tim Thomas to be a superstar with that talent, but obviously he hasn't turned out to be cause of ethic issues.
Not to say Kevin will end up the same, but you're going to say my comparison is way off when Ced compared him to an NBA legend? Kevin Durant is far closer to the scum Tim Thomas is now than he is to Dr. J. I suggest you re-evaluate your ranking.

Sam Cassell came out and told the Sixers it wouldnt be a good idea to trade for him. He doesnt want to play for Philly and while he would have to his heart wouldnt be in it. It wouldnt be a good situation for him. So yeah you cant believe they passed up on a guy who came out and said this right? :confusedshrug:
Clippers werent parting with Shaun Livingston either. Stalemate.
now, just becuz of that move, the lakers and nuggets will meet in the WCF.
This is great... the west just got even stronger.
great trade! we get a pure pg, an expirer and 2 first rounders, great job billy king! good luck to ai for the rest of his career, thanks for everything
I'll go with this statement too. Good luck AI. I've always said Melo was my second favorite player today. AI is my first, Wish this would have happened in this city.
denver just got scary :D
KG needs to demand a trade to the Lakers......
I'm curious about the Nuggets for next season....
Three big men is too many....... They can't get rid of K-Mart(he may be an asset next season and the contract situation), so do you keep Nene for the physical rebounder or do you keep Camby for the fun and gun offense and rebounding ability. This will be the dilemna next season..... They need a 3-pont shooting presence that can score 10-15ppg in the playoffs. K-Mart with Nene or Camby can get more than enough rebounds..........
They need shooters.
1st of all this trade for philly makes sense because Larry Brown wants a pass 1st pg and will most likely be the head coach there to get back at Isiah being in the same division.
Denver is going to need to trade JR SMith for a point guard if this trade is going to work for them. THey wi miss Andre Miller play making, especially when getting the ball to Melo and AI and the rest of the team.
I would trade JR smith and Evans for Brevin Knight, Othella Harrington or Melvin Ely...
i think iverson will be able to handle the playmaking in denver's system. it's a pretty simple yet effective offense. (run run run lob dunk run run run)

Last year, the Hawks offered Al Harrington for Dalembert, and the Sixers said no.
Who knows - if Harrington was there, that would have been enough for the Sixers to get into the playoffs last year. Harrington would have been the number two option, CWebb would be no. 3, and Iggy would be no. 4. Korver would be great as a sixth man.
The Sixers would have had to get a center somewhere, but offensively Harrington would have been a great pickup for the Sixers.
But what is done is done.
AI and Carmelo on the same team?
WOW
There are gonna be A LOT of Turnovers...
They got the talent, but this team isn't going to the Finals or anything, and AI fans won't have any excuses for why he didn't make to the Finals more than once, because now he has good teammates

Hold on a second. Here's a good excuse. There are better teams. You say yourself that you don't expect this team to make the Finals. If his team isn't expected to make the Finals, then he doesn't need an excuse to not reach the Finals more than once. Iverson has never been on a team that was a pre-season favorite to make it to the Finals. Therefore he has already exceeded expectations.

As difficult as this is to read, there's a great point in here: Will Larry Brown end up the coach in Philadelphia? It's been in every report so far that Brown has been a "consultant" to Billy King, and Brown's history with George Karl is well documented so there's a -very- open line of communication there with Brown sitting directly in the center. And Brown has a tendency of getting on the phone with his connections throughout the league involving trading.
This could also explain why New York was never considering trading for Iverson a possibility, even if they pulled a little salary dump or involved Marbury or Francis.. and why a Iverson and Webber to New York trade never came close to happening, even though it could've ended up beneficial to both teams. Dolan and Thomas dealing with King, who is being consulted by Brown.
But anyway.. if Brown ends up coaching Philly, who's next to go? Can Webber and Brown co-exist? How in the hell are they going to trade Webber if they don't? Lots more drama to come folks ;)
I doubt LB will coach the Sixers. Although, crazier things have happened. He never really moved his family away from the Philadelphia area. It's possible. LB and C-Webb wouldn't work very well. I don't know how they can trade Webber, but I wish they would.
...Sucks to be in the NorthWest Division...
Who's the number option for scoring now.
Man the nuggets came out of this one well, AI for andre miller and filler? no way in the world that wouldve happened if AI announced he wanted out. I feel bad for the sixers (fans and players equally) because its going to be a long long year for them. I'm kinda looking forward to watching AI and Carmelo team up should, should be an interesting combo. On the plus side for the nuggets as well AI's arrival means they shouldn't go on as much of a slant during Melo's ban

Package Sammy and Webber together. Willie Green and Webber. Bout it, Sixers wont package Iggy and Korver. First round pick and Webber? Eh
ESPN has their own photoshopped photo...

i think iverson will respect that ultimately this is carmelo's team. he will still get his shots but I think in this system they will be able to share the ball enough.
Who's the number option for scoring now.
Good question. Obviously Iverson is until Melo comes back. After that, it's anyone's guess. My first thought is Anthony because Iverson is the better passer and Anthony is the Nugget's Franchise. Although it might end up being Iverson because he needs the ball in his hands a lot to be effective, while Melo can play with a reduced role. We'll find out in January.

Billy King should be fired if he trades any more first round picks. I wouldn't mind trading Sammy and Webber. Maybe the Sixers can trade Dalembert after the lottery. We need to see if we get Oden first.

When Sixers were reading him in the offseason most fans were claiming "You're not gonna get equal value" citing various players of AI's caliber and deals that got done. The consensus here, reading articles on another sports forum was just that...you wont get equal value for a player with AI age and deal.
Fast forward to now...he's been traded and fans are saying "Sixers got robbed", "Denver got over", "I feel sorry for the Sixers Dre Miller + filler for AI?". :confusedshrug:
I'm confused you can get value for AI or you cant. Either or. You tell me what the Sixers can get for AI.
