im gonna post that Kobe pic on other forums to get more opinions.
Anyways, in another game, this is basically the same move Kobe did:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBt_9t57F-0&feature=related
I maintain the opinion that these aren't travels.
Try looking at the Kobe move in your phone or anything slower than a computer. I saw it slower and it is not a travel.
Try looking at the Kobe move in your phone or anything slower than a computer. I saw it slower and it is not a travel.
you arent going to get a good answer online. For what it is worth I have talked to refs and coaches about this EXACT issue. It is NOT a travel but many people, including bball players, do not understand the rule. Women's game actually teaches that move when they show them how to do the step through.
http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-54343.html
just googled it and come across this thread discussing the use of the move in women's vs. men's bball.
Someone post of pic of me Chandler Parsons, you know I am the GOAT SF in the paint foo
Kobe's move was a borderline travel just like a jap-step drive from the triple threat is a borderline travel if you put the ball down too early. What I'm saying is that no one ever calls that sh*t, and OK to do. It's fine. Kobe was trying to jump off both feet at the same time but it wasn't perfect.

Shawne Williams is a bad boy. I was really impressed with his 1on1 defense against LeBron.
LOL that's one of my go-to moves in the paint.
used to do this all the time and got called travel half the time.
the pivot has to leave the ground at the same time as the other foot, but sometimes u just lean up and finish with a half step up first. and even if both leave at the same time, the idiots still often whine its a travel because you left them in the dust.
No you don't.
The pivot can leave the floor first, then you can stand on one foot for the rest of the shot clock and do w.e the hell you want.
you just can't put it back down until you do something with the ball that it's not in your possession anymore.

i think his pivot toe just moved a little bit on the spin but do not care, it was good enough. filthy move, against a great defender in AK too.

I remember that ... was vicious.
so. many. gif's. great great thread. i loved that Magic fastbreak, unbelievable to change your momentum and spin the other way on the fly. the Kobe/Wade all-star reverse pivot is one of my favourites, just because his patience, slowly biding his time, made it all the more embarrassing. the Wade steparound is a signature move that he probably does better than anybody else, and it isn't easy, especially considering how fast he's usually barreling toward the bucket. and then all the classics, MJ, Hakeem, McHale. damn.
i read a wee bit into that debate, and i'm sure people must have come to the right conclusion. the rule, unless i'm very much mistaken, is that you're allowed to LEAVE your established pivot foot in whatever fashion you want... you just aren't allowed to establish a new one. so if you plant your left, you can take off from your left, but you can't come back down on either foot with the ball still in your hands. that right?

after setting you up with the jump hook throughout the game, this would be one of his counter moves that he'd use later on.
He never lifts his pivot foot.
on second thought, it looks like he does lift his right leg before the ball is out of his hands
So... he is shooting a shot. You can lift it to jump into a shot.

No, that was in the 2nd half. He also shut Mac down in the 2nd half of that game, too.
No, that was in the 2nd half. He also shut Mac down in the 2nd half of that game, too.
No you're thinking of the game in 03-04. That game happened in 02-03. It's on YT. Mac destroys Bryant and Kobe immediately demands the ball, brings up court, blows by Mac and dunks on the entire Magic team. Shit was badass.

No ... I know what game you're talking about. That one was in LA ... the 2002 - 2003 game he shut him down in the 2nd half as well. And that game isn't on youtube. That dunk on the Magic he did it with two hands and slapped the back board.
