Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
So what you guys are saying is that if Ohtani decides to pitch for the next 10 years, that he's the MVP for the next 10 years, simply because he is also pitching as opposed to only hitting??
Is he going to be hitting 45 bombs and OPSing .950 while pitching for those 10 years? If so, yes.
I doubt it plays out like that though so you're safe.

Even when there is another hitter that hits more bombs and has a higher OPS?? :lol
You're not making the case for Ohtani here.

Yea because (and we've already been through this)....Guerrero isn't also one of the best pitchers in the league. He doesn't have the ability.
It's weird to me that you don't consider that fact to be important. It's not "he can pitch". It's "he's one of the best starters in the American League". HUGE distinction that I feel like you're just completely ignoring.

Chewing doesn't get it, pitchers for the most part are automatic outs because that's not the reason they're in the big leagues, vice versa you can't put some 3rd baseman with a gun as an arm to pitch also and expect him to be a quality pitcher, the fact that Othani can do both at an elite level is something we haven't seen in our lifetime, it's that rare :facepalm

st louis crushing the Brewers for a umpteenth victory .... are the brewers crushin' ??

Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Jays vs Yankees series in Toronto starting this Tuesday will be thrilling.
-
Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Stanton beasted it for Game 1, Yankees win.
Jays have to win the next two or they are out.
-
Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Five games left? I'm wondering if Stanton can get to 40 homeruns. Dude has been crushing the ball as of late. With the amount of games he missed, getting to 40 homers is quite an achievement.
-
Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Jays beat Yankees tonight with 2 homers from Bo Bichette.
Both Red Sox and Mariners win. So, Yankees' wild card lead is down to +1.0, followed by Red Sox, Mariners, and Jays.
It is down to the wire. 4-team tie is possible as well.

Got tickets for Braves/Brewers game 3 at Truist. I’m pumped it’s gonna be electric

I would argue that acuna getting hurt...made us better? We just went out and nabbed every power hitting outfielder that exists. And that depth is a big part of who we are right now
And Chuck and Fried as a 1-2 in the playoffs is something no team wants to see.
-
Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Both Red Sox and Yankees are now only +1.0 game lead of Blue Jays and probably Mariners (leading in 6th).
Red Sox seems to do well against Nationals while Yankees have got trashed by Rays. Blue Jays are crushing AAA Orioles.
Red Sox and Yankees' fates are on their hands on Decision Sunday. 4-way tie is still very possible.
-
Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Yankees and Red Sox wins their 162nd games, both at the 9th innings. They are in the AL Wildcard game this Tuesday.
Blue Jays wins big again but it doesn't matter. :(

Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Hoping BoSox beat NY and TB, then we get to host them after getting past HOU...
Go White Sox!

Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
That was the most I've cared about a wild card race in ages. Sox/Yankees fans...we live for this kind of shit.
I feel a bit for the Dodgers; winning 105 games and left playing for their playoff lives against the Cards.

Putting money on the Cards. They are the hottest team going into the postseason and Scherzer's been getting rocked as of late.

Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
I seriously do not know who should be the NL MVP. There is not one player that stands out. My gut says Harper cause he has monster numbers while missing 21 games. That's why his RBI numbers are down, but he's #1 in the entire league in OPS and #2 in the entire league in OBP. I would love it to be Austin Riley for propelling the Braves into the post-season without Acuņa and Ozuna.
My dark horses for the MVP are Soto (who is becoming my favorite non-Braves player). He is arguably the best hitter in the game. And Trea Turner. Turner had a monster season as well while leading the entire league in Hits and Average. Not a fan of Tatis Jr. this year. Lots of Homeruns, but lots of errors and his Avg. and RBI numbers are nowhere near all the aforementioned players.

It'll be Harper.
Riley doesn't have quite the overall numbers to be in the conversation yet. Plus a really high BABIP shows that there might have been a little luck involved for him this year.
But a .900 OPS and 6.1 WAR is better than I thought he would EVER be. So I love it.

Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
Post your postseason predictions...my heart wants the White Sox, lifelong fan and they certainly have the pitching to go deep but if I had to bet my mortgage...Yanks beat BoSox, ChiSox beat HOU, TB beats Yanks and TB beats Chicago in the ALCS. Over on the NL, STL beats LA, SF beats STL, MIL beats ATL and MIL beats SF in the NLCS. TB vs MIL in the World Series, with the Rays winning it all...hope I'm wrong though about my ChiSox but I think they're window is just opening, still not enough playoffs experience to beat the Rays this season who came close to winning it all last year.
Go White Sox!

I like Atlanta in that first round. Baseball has changed a lot. The old saying about you can't win without pitching in the playoffs has almost been reversed. These days, you can't win without the hitting. I have no idea what happens in the American League but I've hated Larussa since Oakland. Sorry TheMan I'm rooting hard against your sox :lol
Dodgers are too good. They win it all again.

Gerrit Cole what a dud. Out after 2 innings. Was lucky to only give up 3 runs as his reliever bailed him out.

Re: Official MLB 2021 season thread...
I feel like MLB should re-seed after the wildcard. No reason the dodgers and giants should be playing in the first round.
If STL wins here though the NL is open. Might be disrespectful to a 107 win team but I still don’t feel like they’re...that good? I don’t know it’s tough.

Yep, pitching has failed us so far...Sox play much better at home so I wouldn't be shocked if they force a Game 5 but I can't see them pulling out a deciding game at HOU but you never know, crazier things have happened.

I had a feeling they'd lose this game. They have been such an inconsistent team this year with the bats it's unbelievable. They're hot, then they're cold again. And Snit is a horrible manager who doesn't know how to manufacture runs. This team doesn't bunt, doesn't move runners over the old fashioned way. They just rely on the long ball.

Snit isn’t about manufacturing runs. He about managing people. As Bobby Cox did
We have a power team and doesn’t do the little things very well because there are 6 dudes who can go off at any minute.
And Max Fried is a fvcking animal

I'm glad their analytics style of baseball blows up in their face in the playoffs. F*cked it up in the WS last year, and f*cked it up against Boston too.

Well my Brewers are out of it , by lowly Braves....
My thoughts NL will win the W-series.
