Re: According to the mayor of LA, you're an american as soon as you step foot on U.S
If you're from Mexico, then you're Mexican. If you're from the United States, then you're American. If your ancestors are from Mexico, then you have Mexican heritage.
Agreed, and those who have Mexican heritage will have affinity to their heritage and culture. It shouldn't come as a surprise if they wave their ethnic flag, or hang them on their homes or in their cars.
What are you even arguing anymore? This is about if you're here illegally, then you need to leave. Also, if you are from Mexico, and you hate this country, then go back. It's as simple as that. You're trying to use some circular logic about ancestral heritage that has nothing to do with what's happening in this country right now. It boils down to law and order. You're trying to make it into something it's not and then virtue signaling when you face someone who doesn't see it your way. Which your way doesn't even really hold weight as I just explained.
Mexican-Americans don't have to go anywhere. Why would they when a) they're citizens and b) they're on their ancestral homeland anyway?
I'm not virtue signaling anything. You've made your disdain for minorities quite clear numerous times, even right in this thread. There is no need to "virtue" signal on my part.
I've been very clear from the get go. People's anger and hostility is understandable. I'm not justifying their actions of rioting or burning anything. I'm saying the right has a goal within its party to reduce immigration and for some, eliminate its types all together. Why is that so controversial when the data and policy is quite clear on this?
If conservatives wanted, they could fix the immigration system and make it much easier for people to have legal pathways to citizenship or reduce the timeframe. Go ahead and pitch that idea and see how well received it will be.
You are so focused on race. Under your nonsensical system all Black people should go back to Africa?
**** you.
Tell that to Trump who loves Robert E. Lee. What am I supposed to do, applaud that? Am I supposed to vote for people who want to eliminate immigration programs completely and reduce legal immigration? Go and take up the issue with them, not me.
They're the ones who are mad that America is becoming "less white." Imagine taking aim at a person because they think secessionists and pro-slavery fanatics shouldn't be praised at the government level in the US. But I'm the one focused on race? There are 43 African Americans in the US. You want them to be proud of people waving Confederate flags and vote to promote that?
What planet are you living on? What's next, erect statues of Hitler and expect Jewish Americans to applaud?
This guy makes no goddamn sense. :facepalm
I'm actually being quite clear but you don't want to stop for a second to even consider what other people are saying. I completely understand your point and I agree that:
1) Illegal Mexicans should go home
2) If you don't like the US or hate the US, then leave just as you would with any other institution, restaurant, place of employment, etc.
I don't disagree with either of those two, nor am I someone who thinks people should burn the US flag.
But what you're not considering is that people who are protesting are majority legal and legal Mexican-Americans have a right to be upset, protest, and don't have to go back anywhere.
Telling someone indigenous to their homeland to "go back" makes little sense. And their proud waving of their flag is one of heritage. Everyone does it. Mexicans should not be some exception.

How's that stopping people from jumping in front of the line?
I say you take the Full Fascist approach... set an extreme precedent... show the world a few inhumane examples of deportations and that we still have our balls intact,... that we will uphold the appearance of the law.
Suddenly you've discouraged millions from coming over here illegally (which is what is happening right now)
Half the problem has already been fixed.

He has nothing to say about 73% of Republicans who want to reduce immigration.
He has nothing to say about scrapping the refugee program but conveniently granting 1,000 white Afrikaaners refugee status, with 59 of them already here.
He'll say absolutely nothing about Republicans wanting to scrap the DACA program, meanwhile children raised in the US didn't make that choice to come here and many of them don't even speak the language of their place of birth.
He probably won't even condemn the government giving ICE the permission to detain children of illegal immigrants at schools and graduations (even though ICE themselves say they won't do this).
Their silence is deafening.

"They're detaining children of illegal immigrants..."
This type of emotional manipulation isn't going to get us anywhere. When parents are arrested or detained for whatever reason and there is no legal guardian the child is taken into custody.
I would be willing to extend an olive branch to all the honest and hardworking illegals who snuck in out of desperation, so long as they haven't committed any crimes and have a history of honest work. I don't know how you go about doing that though. There's really no perfect system for that. I imagine it would require people to self report and I don't know if that's feasible. There probably isn't a way to stop certain people from falling through the cracks.
Then again you could also take the complete opposite stance. Laws are laws. Everyone that snuck in knew the risk when they came here. It's sad but unfortunately not everyone was born with a ticket to Disneyland. The people that are here already and are being removed are no more deserving than the ones on the outside who wish they could come in.

The libs are in a very compromised position right now. They know they can't condone the violent rioting so they have to pivot. At first they hid behind denial. "There's no rioting happening"... "It's mostly peaceful"... "It's a small area not all of LA is on fire"..."Your social media algorithm is pushing a false narrative". But now they can't deny the rioting so they have to pin it on Trump.
But it's extremely telling that they wont condemn the rioters. They reserve all their vitriol for the right. You would think they would be furious with the rioters for undermining their cause and making them look like villains.
But when the left sees people rioting and looting under the guise of anti-immigration, the left would rather blame YOU for noticing. I have yet to see AOC actually condemn the violence that's going on. Instead she's justifying it and encouraging it.
In the end the left were the violent and deplorable thugs they made us out to be.

And no, my argument doesn't make me look silly. Your argument on the other hand doesn't equate. You live in the US on what isn't your ancestral land. Mexicans living in the Southwest (I'm not talking about illegals here), can mostly trace their lineage back to peoples that existed in the same states or Mexico.
Nothing has changed for them. They didn't go anywhere. It's just the titles of ownership have changed, whether Spain, Mexico, or the US. Whereas in the example you gave, your family is living in an entirely different country on nearly the other side of the world. See the difference?
Lastly, why would they demand citizenship when they already are citizens? My focus here isn't about illegals.
Wrong-O.
That was easy to spot. Places like Germany and Poland absolutely were my ancestral land. I can trace my lineage directly back there. Doesn't mean I can just waltz in there and settle down on my own whim. Because I wasn't born there and they have rules in place that supersede who I came from 100 or 200 or 500 years ago.
Thats literally youre argument which is a joke. Times change, countries change, borders change, you don't get to just revoke yourself to 500 years ago on your own volition. Sorry pal.

The US is stolen land though. If someone walked into your grandfather's home 100 years ago, killed him and took it. Is it the thief's grandchild's home to inherit, or is it yours?
Morally speaking though, I don't really think any land on Earth is property of any human. Earth as a whole is the home to all of us.

A home is personal property, but true the land it sits on would need regulation still. In theory removing all the borders in the world would be one huge country. Laws would still exist. People would still have their own homes and that land, but anyone could travel to their area.

Removing borders means we no longer have countries, which means we no longer abide by the laws of those countries, which means we no longer recognize any property deeds that were issued by governing bodies in those countries.
So if the lines across the globe are being redrawn and no one is entitled to own property, who says you should get to own that parcel of land? There are 8 billion people on Earth who need a home. What makes you so special?

No borders =/= No laws
Not sure why you think that has to be the situation.
Or we could leave the borders and instead view them similar to state lines. Like they just dictate law of the land and not where you can travel. It would be like viewing the entire world as the US and each country is a state. And just like here, your home is yours, but everyone has the freedom to roam your neighborhood.
I think something like that is where we are headed toward eventually. As the world evolves and becomes more global.

Laws are tied to jurisdiction. That is why North Korea is governed by a communist style dictatorship and South Korea isn't. You can't just magically pretend the border that separates the two doesn't exist. If you get rid of the border and combine the region, which laws get to stay in place? Who decides?
Newsflash, not everyone wants to be governed like the United States. In certain countries a homosexual act can be punishable by death. Which governing body is going to tell them they can't do that? Who has the authority?
As usual you lefties propose some fantasy proposition that is totally impossible and impractical. But hey if you really feel like no one is entitled to own land, you are more than welcome to give up your home. It's not yours anyway. It belongs to the Earth. It's actually extremely immoral of you to keep something that doesn't belong to you.

I was just saying that morally speaking, I do no think any human owns land on Earth. It is all of ours. I was not trying to suggest that snapping our fingers and making the borders vanish was easy or feasible. It is a hypothetical. BUT, now that I think about it. It might be more doable than it seems. Different states have different laws. Could make the country borders like state borders. Each country gets to keep their laws. But people can move around freely.
